Palin only spoke in generalities, and did alot of "pass" that she must think this is a game show..

I think she bombed. She wants to be Dick Cheney. Has she ever seen his poll numbers??? Does she actually think she can change the Constitution????

25,894 American say that Biden won (77.4%)
6,613 American say that Palin won (19.8%)
And 939 American say it was a tie (2.8%)
Not a good night for the old man and the republican party!

biden won.
but where was the abortion question? Did Ifill get spooked by the McCain criticism?
Palin was clearly coached and scripted, and I wouldnt be surprised if her "notes" were complete written answers, for her to recite no matter the question.
I bet a word count would find that she used a few words a lot, and the rest hardly ever.

Did Palin really talk about our children's, children's children?
It was over in the beginning when she talked down about health insurance, like no one in this country wants health insurance. But yeah, the Cheney stuff and wanting to change the Constitution was a dead ender.
ProgressiveTroll

Did anyone else notice how she would talk with her accent and hillbilly talk and then go back to talking seriously. I agree with Paul Begala. She doesn't know anything about John McCain, she's running for 2012.

What is the point of a debate when you state right up front you will not answer the questions? It isn't a debate at that point it is a stump speech and an opportunity to jab your opponents. At what point does a moderator intervene and demand answers to the questions.

Wow. Ed Rollins thought Palin did better. What a shocker. And that whole notion that she'd really like to have the VP's role expanded is ludicrous. Polls at both CNN and MSNBC show about the same results - Biden 78%, Palin 22%.
Palin, word salad. seemed confident, alphabetic hash. Said nothing. Appeared tough. Caught the base. The rest of us said WTF!

Was Palin on Bennies?
Her machine gun mouth spit out rapid fire cliches, buzz words, patronizing cow dung that was so deep you needed waders. If the winner was the person who burped out more words, she edged out Biden. But if the winner was the person with the best answers, the most direct answers, the most Vice Presidential answers, clearly it was Biden.
But Biden shined! His calm, direct answers gave him the superior score in this debate.

Clearly, the bar was SOOOO incredibly low and this seemed to make every conservative and television pundit giddy. She wasn't awful, but because she was OK, she looks great to all these people. She wasn't great. She wouldn't answer questions. She seemed caught speechless a couple of times. She said a general's name wrong a couple of times. And where does McCain/Palin stand on deregulation? We'll never know -- she wouldn't talk about it. Even if she said the right things sometimes, it was CLEAR that it was mostly rehearsed material. And finally, almost everyone is ignoring Joe Biden's very good performance. That's the biggest crime of all.

im sorry, that was a flop for Palin
if you cant or refuse to answer questions, YOU FAIL
god, why is that so hard to understand! It's like an exam.. if you dont answer the questions, YOU DONT F#CKING PASS.

Glad Biden got in the quip about Spain.

I was really glad about the Spain part as well. It clearly proved that with McCain/Palin, it's Bush/Cheney all over again. She reinforced that over and over and over.

I am not a big fan of who "won" or who "lost"as much as what policies were more believable and how much learning or enlightenment came from each candidate.
Palin did better than the Couric interviews. However her performance was still pathetic. She dodged questions or answer in banal platitudes. Biden, I thought was much more multi faceted, and knew nuances, even though he could had been speaking in 1964 Democratic convention, that I kind of worry would turn off some independents. Myself, I like the more liberal, the better.
However, Palin clearly showed she was clearly not ready for this position. She made mistakes, many of them will be dissected, especially the McKiernan error, which is a big, big mistake, basically lying what the commander of US forces of Afghanistan stated, but I hate to say this, she has TV presence, even though she wasn't making sense much of the time.
Biden was much more persuasive.

Sorry, the independents are the Kingmakers of Presidential politics and they are deciding that they want a change of direction.
Basically as Edwin Edwards said about winning the governorship, he could only lose if he was found in bed with a dead woman or a live boy, Obama is getting into that territory.
All indicators that the Dems are going to win big, with the help of independents, the same formula that change Congress in 2006.
This election is a referendum of eight years of the Bush Administration as much as it is about McCain.
Anyway, a good weather indicator is if Joe Lieberman believes strongly on something, go against it, and you will win.

What does the graph mean? There's not ALT text to explain the details. Shame on you, John, for hosting a site that isn't accessible to the vision impaired. And to mostly fully sighted Dems that cvn't read images at a glance.
