I have to agree with that statement... And if you've been paying attention Tweety started his repositioning a couple of months ago when he was floating the idea of a senate run... The gasbags do know that McCain doesn't stand a chance in a fair fight and they've been throwing him some bones, but they've got their own asses to think about now and they are in 'reposition" mode.

Ya know, if I was an old man, like McCain, and didn't know if I would live through my presidency, I might be tempted to pick someone like Palin who I knew was not qualified, but might inspire dumbasses to vote for me based on emotion instead of logic. Then again, I care what happens to my fellow Americans after I pass on, so I couldn't do it. I think its beyond belief someone would put his self interest first in attaining President by picking Palin instead of picking someone who would keep us safe if something happened to the president. Its definitely not putting "Country First" by picking Palin.

Up at Politico.com and worth reading: Palin's Cold Shoulder. Bottom line: we are all having to learn way too much about the picayune backbiting and mind-numbingly mundane personality conflicts in some jerkwater town, all of it centered on a mayor who gets vindictive with anyone she deems immoral or who won't kiss her ass.

McCain is breaking a promise he made on national television. In July, during an interview with CNN’s Larry King, McCain assured King that his running mate would appear on King’s show shorty after his announcement:
KING: We have a history on this program that whenever the vice presidential nominee is announced, he or she appears on this show the next night. It’s been going on for quite a while. We hope that Senator McCain follows that tradition since I have a hunch he will not announce tonight who that candidate is.
But how close are we?
MCCAIN: I want to say that that vice presidential candidate will be on your show. I will not risk the wrath of Larry King. I want to assure you.
McCain was FOR Larry King, America's most beloved avuncular interviewer, before he was AGAINST him!

We need to create a universal TV Ad for all the Republicans that have gone on record about how there's no way Palin could be a bad choice.
Republicans wouldn't comment on someone based on what they've been told, would they?
Otherwise people would think that maybe they never read those 3 Energy Bills that Tom DeLay held the votes open for.
Every Dem could use the ad and approve the message.

It's nice that they're actually doing some real reporting.
It's annoying, though, that they couldn't be bothered until they were under attack from McCain. As long as Noun+Verb+POW was keeping the barbecue coming and giving them favored status, they were all about helping him win the office for which he is wholly unprepared.
While they're breaking their arms patting themselves on the back for running the Palin thing to ground, they need to smack themselves upside the head for their wholesale abandonment of their responsibilities to the American people in the runup to Iraq, in exposing ongoing government sanctioned torture, in the persistent assaults on the US constitution by Bush and his band of thugs.

'...“and Americans have every right to expect as much information as possible about this person so that they can make an informed choice. ...'
We all pay the salaries of everyone lawmaker in America (except maybe Schwartzenegger- he is apparently working for free). By the current rules of corporate employment we are entitled to know about everything they do on 'company' time. As far as I'm concerned that means knowing every detail of their calender, seeing ever piece of paper they ever handle, and sifting the contents of their computer (at home and in the office). Until America understands that WE are the employer here- they will continue to get away with murder (quite literally, probably).

Not the DN i watched today, Friday, Sept. 5. They fell all over themselves to praise Palin and denigrate the Dems. They ran Palin's speech and talked about great it was and how experienced she is, and ran her blatant lies uncommented upon. CNN wholeheartedly endorsed Palin's many lies today.
At noon they had Obama, live, talking about actual issues and his ideas for solving the problems that God-Appointed Bush has intentionally created, but they cut away from him right when he was getting to the good part to go to Palin speaking live somewhere and she recited her list of proven lies, again, with only high praise for her anti-Americanism.
So I don't know what you guys are watching, but the reporters on the MSM have gotten their dressing down from their superiors for getting 'uppity' and they are all now back to 100% pro-GOP coverage. I'd say the GOPto Dem ratio is about 80-20% for McCain.

The Media has not only the right to ask questions, but I beleive they also have the professional obligation to check facts and expose untruths. CNN is doing just that. On that note can we expose the new strategy of the McCain campaign for what it is. McCain is now running on a platform of: 1) Copy Cat Tactics and 2) Lies.
1)The Copy Cat Tactics: It has become blatantly apparent that although they condescend and insult Obama they are borrowing and stealing, not a page but the entire book, from his message and his theme and regurgitating it shamelessly. Suddenly McCain abandons his own mantra of ‘Experience’ that he was pedaling for the past several months, and is no longer for experience, but for changing Washington. Suddenly McCain’s experienced friends and colleagues in Washington are in his words: selfish, bureaucratic and overspending. Furthermore, suddenly the McCain camp is now mimicking slogans and themes that have been a part of Obama’s message and platform for the last couple of years. Obama has been chanting “Change” for months, and McCain is now mimicking Obama with the same message “Change is coming to Washington”. Obama energized, empowered and encouraged millions with a can do spirit and message of “Yes we can”, McCain has adopted the synonyms phrase “We can do this”. Finally, McCain had long submitted the “fundamentals of the economy are basically sound”, now he is regurgitating with a straight face what Obama has been saying to the people for months, “everyday Americans are suffering and that their economy is not sound but devastated.” In sum McCain is running on Shameless Mimics and mindless Copy Cat Tactics with no original message of his own.
2)The Lies: Lieberman, Juliani, McCain etc.. all looked squarely at the camera this week and shamelessly lied to the American people repeatedly. The BIG LIE #1: “Obama has never reached across party lines to get anything done.” The BIG LIE #2: “Obama has 0 experience and 0 accomplishments, and Palin has more experience than Obama.”
Let us tackle BIG LIE #1: “Obama has never reached across party lines to get anything done.” There are 3 major examples I can quote off the cuff to defunct this lie. On significant issues such as Ethics, WMD proliferation, and Immigration Obama has reached across party lines. Here are some specific examples: A) He worked with Republican Tom Coburn to pass a law with a measure to rebuild trust in government by allowing every American to go online and see how and where every dime of their tax dollars is spent. B) He worked with Republican Dick Lugar to begin a new generation of non-proliferation efforts designed to find and secure deadly weapons of mass distraction around the world, traveling to Russia with Lugar during this effort. C) He worked with John McCain himself and others in the Republican Party on immigration reform.
Let us tackle BIG LIE #2: “Obama has 0 experience and 0 accomplishments, and Palin has more experience than Obama.” Obama has 12 years of unquestionable experience: more specifically 8 years as state legislator (serving in the Illinois State Senate) and later 4 years (serving in the US Senate). And during his service, he made major impacts including: securing the State Earned Income Tax Credit for countless families, expanding early childhood education, getting Iraq and Afghan veterans disability pay they deserve, and reforming the American justice system with regards to interrogation transparency. These things have impacted and will continue to impact countless of everyday Americans.
While the aforementioned 12 years of experience are self explanatory and don’t lend themselves to dispute and analysis, let us breakdown some of Obama’s additional years of related work, educational, and life experiences. In fact, although it is ridicules to compare credentials for Obama and Palin (as she dared had done this week) the facts need to be stated, so let us compare them in real terms.
Comparison on work experience – While she was busy perfecting her hand wave for her beauty pageant competitions (for Miss Wasilla and Miss Alaska respectively), Obama had written his senior thesis on “Soviet Nuclear Disarmament” as a Political Science and International Relations scholar at Columbia University, (one of the most respected institutions in the country). And while she was securing her place in the world as “miss congeniality” Obama was turning down lucrative job offers, and going to Chicago, to lead a successful voter registration drive, work for several years with Christian churches in Chicago, and helped devastated communities when steel plants closed. While she was tinkering with a career in entertainment as a sports caster, Obama went on to earn his law degree from Harvard and became the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review (one of the most respected journals of legal scholarship in the country). And while she was busy hunting fish and deer, Obama was defending civil rights, as a civil rights lawyer, and professing constitutional law at one of the top university’s in the country.
Comparison on life experience – Even during his very early years, Obama had already been to 3 continents and lived in various cultures different than his own, which have expanded his horizons and jump started his understanding of the complexities of this globalized world - which he then continued to expand (through education and travels) for 25 more years thereafter. Palin just recently got her passport. Need I say more? Although some in her camp have claimed that Alaska’s proximity to Russia qualify her as having world experience. Go figure.

The problem is that the McCain campaign didn't vet Palin so his pundants have a hard time answering any question about her. McCain has zero judgement, if he thinks he can present her for the second highest office in the free world, and not to have vetted her. Where's the COUNTRY FIRST in all of this?????
