Somebody needs to ask McCain if he is still leading the Republican side on the question of The Bailout?

BoA to close credit cards for approximately 60% of customers?
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
OMG, that is going to affect a lot of people. I am sure other banks are going to follow suit.
  • bumpkis · 1 year ago
I've had a running battle with BOA trying to close my accounts with them for a few months now. This latest action by them does not surprise me.

"He put a lotta political capital on the line with this bailout bill." In McCain's own mind, rather, McCain put his schlong on the line, while Obama didn't.
  • interlude · 1 year ago
John McCain and the Repubs have politicized this, and it is ludicrous to blame Obama.

    however, look at the vote:
    Yeah 207 (141 D, 66 R)
    Nay 226 (94D, 132R)

where is Pelosi's leadership? 94 dems voted against the plan
where o where is Pelosi? when will dems learn to lead?
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
you know what, I'm thinking that the number of Dems voting NO was a direct result of the number of Repubs voting YES...

the dems didn't want to be the only ones holding the bag on this piece of crap...
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
In this case I am glad they didn't follow. Nobody likes this bill, nobody. By all accounts I have read the bailout would have helped but problems would still persist. Had the Dems approved this without bipartisan support they would have OWNED the problem.
  • interlude · 1 year ago
i am not sure the bailout was the right thing either, just saying if the dems were saying it was they should do a better job

I only use them to pay my monthly Earthlink account. I wouldn't mind a bit if they closed it. I was one day late with a payment last year and it cost me $15.00. Needless to say - now the check is in the mail the day after I get the bill.

Earlier today, NPR ran tape of an interview with John Boehner, who described the failure of the bailout package as a failure of leadership by Bush and McCain, saying the Republican party was in worse disarray than he had ever seen and the afrementioned "leaders" were to blame. That was before the Republican strategists put a spin on it, and Boehner changed his tune to blaming Pelosi for the loss.
