An endorsement from Powell? Powell the Mai Lai cover up guy, the WMD at the UN guy the Bush enabler. Powell sold his credibility for nothing. Powell is a stink Obama would be wise to avoid. A lot like Justice Thomas vouching for Obama's eligibility.

That's very good news. I live in N.California Wine Country and I would guess 70% of our county will vote for Barry. So, I can't tell by listening or looking around, except I haven't seen a single McCain sticker.

Plenty of McCain stickers all over Dallas...some Obama yard signs...I figure that Texans worry more about being taken out by drive by white trash shootings on the road than in their homes.

Bill Kristol: "He may well give a speech at the Democratic convention."
Powell: “I do not have time to waste on Bill Kristol’s musings. I am not going to the convention. I have made this clear.”

Yours truly had forecast this as early as February in my blog:
Saturday, February 9, 2008 A Colin Powell Endorsement for Obama! Is it possible that the former Secretary of State Colin Powell, a Republican could endorse Barack Obama for President?
Colin Powell was very candid in his interview with Wolf Blitzer on CNN. He made it very clear that he will vote for the best candidate and not necessarily a nominee of his party. He also talked about Obama rather fondly.
Colin Powell may be reminiscing about the time when he was asked to run for President and he declined. I guess he feels Obama is competent, charming and fresh and could the take the country to a new direction so why not support him. Though not a done deal yet, but it seems very likely.
Colin Powell also has to wash off his own embarrassment of that Iraq war speech that he made in the UN and this may be the perfect opportunity to do the right thing. Despite that UN debacle, Colin Powell is still one of the most respected individulas in the United States and around the world. His endorsement will mean a lot for Obama. Imagine the experience he could bring to Obama's team as Secretary of Defence, charged to put an end to the war that he started.

I don't think it matters now. I think powell is in a similar situation to burt lancaster in 'judgement at nuremberg'. To paraphrase the character lancaster played: 'I have made my life excrement' http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055031/

Powell's endorsement is an indication that he doubts the ability of the Bush Pardon to protect him, he's trying to buy immunity.

This is far more true than Powell suddenly acting in the interests of his country.

Powell has always served his masters, sadly that has never included the American people His willingness to serve as a Token for Bush defines him.

I did not like Powell's role selling Bush and Cheney's bloody war, but an endorsement by Powell for Obama, would give the Republicans a well deserved slap in their face, and give Obama the boost he needs.

Powell endorsement = kiss of death. Dems will say he's a Bush flunky, My Lai veteran, lied us at the UN into Iraq War; Repugs will say he's a traitor for abandoning his party, plus (under the radar), he's black, just like the Ob(s)ama candidate. Please Obama, be gracious if he moves towards the Dems, but under no circumstances allow him to be a poster boy for anything you want to achieve, if you wish to somehow override all the political machinations that are determined that you will not be President

If he truly wanted to help Obama all that is needed is a full confession of all the crap he pulled on Bush's behalf. Exposure of the Bush Treasons is what we need.

As usual, Hamlet-like indecision, which we're supposed to find enthralling. Ignore him. He's so 2002!

Ms. Greenspan said this afternoon that it is NOT TRUE that Powell will speak at the Dem convention and he hasn't decided yet who he will back, Obama or Mcshame. He will wait til they pick their VPs to decide. Holy shit on a cracker, isn't that special!

Obviously it's not going to happen at the convention, but this inevitable endorsement can still be an effective one down the stretch in the fall.

I'm not sure what all of you are talking about. If you've been keeping up, Powell was the only sane/intelligent member of the Bush administration. That's why he's not in it anymore.
