wait a minute.... they prayed for God to flood Denver with torrential rain.
A hurricaine heading for New Orleans just in time for the RNCC??
Why does God hate repugnicans?

Ye ah, talk about timing. And wait until it gets out that one of Jeb Bush's cronie parnters owns the company that got the no-bid to fix the pumps and THEY DON'T WORK! Dkos has a diary on the whistle blower up right now.

Ed Schultz just said, the RNC is saying McCain may not give an acceptance speech, he will probably go down and inspect the damage. They've already said Bush won't be giving his speech because of the hurricane. Oh the irony. And the utterly pathetic pandering.

OK.. HUGE story comming out : Putin is accusing US of orchestrating war between Georgia and Russia in an effort to sway the election to John McINSANE.
This is huge folk. bye bye Johnie......My friends.
.....Iraq war= one trillion dollars starting world war three= Priceless.
jcgraham77

that was obvious from the get-go

Yes, Tom Hartman of Air AMerica has been saying this for about a week.
Just look at all the people who went to Georgia one week before the war started. And now Cheney is there and Cindy McCain is there.
As Tom Hartman said.......a ginned up war to make McCain look like the war hero.
CNN is reporting an interview with Putin where he says that the US encouraged Georgia to start the war to benefit one of the American Presidential candidates (guess who?)! Familiar Rovian tactics - insane, but familiar.
HereinDC

Air America's Thom Hartman has been listing all the people from the Bush and McCain who have been dealing with Georgia the week before the war....
And why George Bush was the first President to ever go to an Olympic NOT on American soil...and heo Bush then got to meet Putin.
Too too many things add up.

You KNOW the Republicans egged Georgia into starting that war with Russia. You KNOW it. And look who was just in Georgia yesterday: Cindy Freakin' McCain, in all her plastic glory, wearing age-inappropriate BLUE JEANS for Christ sake.

Wonder if they'll roll out their veep during Obama's speech?

How ironic that evangelicals prayed for torrential rains during the Democratic Convention and Gustav ends up :
1. During the Republican Convention 2. Gulf of Mexico 3. Republican Governor of Louisiana 4. Republican Governor of Florida 5. VP GOP choice is from Louisiana 6. VP GOP choice is from Florida 7. The exact same week as Katrina 2005 8. Landfall hits when Cheney speaking at GOP Convention 9. Landfall hits when Bush speaking at GOP Convention 10. Aimed at Oil Rigs 11. GOP claiming no oil spilled during Katrina.
What are the odds?

Ha! I still wonder if the homophobic freaks have noticed that the gay neighborhood of New Orleans was the ONLY part of the city that was not badly damaged by Katrina. God loves the Gays!

Gustav is headed into the Gulf while Hanna is on her way around the Bahamas, headed toward the Florida peninsula. It isn't karma, it's the late summer weather pattern. There is no god, there is no cosmic vengence, it's just the weather. Right wing fundies and moralistical lefties see vengence where there's just the weather. Funny how that works.

Remember--McCain's birthday is tomorrow. If elected, at age 72, he would be the oldest person ever voted in as president. I say the liberal blogosphere should all wish him a happy 72nd birthday tomorrow just as a friendly reminder that he is in fact a decrepit old man.

Maybe there is a god after all...Sunny and 70's in CO tonight and a Hurricane for the Republican Convention. What do you think he has against McCain's birthday? I'm sure somehow they'll attempt to blame Obama and the Democrats for it. Maybe the crowds due to his celebrity created too much heat in the gulf...and by the way he was in a prison camp for five and a half years.

This could go several different ways...the hurricane politics that is. To rememdy the situation the Dems need to:
1. Send Pelosi back to Washington to be ready to do whatever they have to do at the Federal level and have a press conference letting everyone know we are ready and have ample federal dollars to move to the affected areas. 2. Obama should acknowledge the concern we have during his speech--and reiterate that the Dems are ready to act on this disaster unlike Bush and McCain were...maybe even point out what they were doing. 3. Dems such as Michelle or the Clintons (surrogates) need to be ready to tour the area. 4. If possible Obama needs to be ready to fill sandbags along with Biden...ready to be on the next flight down there.
These are my basic thoughts...totally free of charge to the DNC to use since they probably won't have any.
Mark in Florida

yeah, but then the sand bag thing looks way too photo oppy
ProgressiveTroll

ProgressiveTroll

Not saying they shouldn't go back to Washington. But you know how those idiots will spin it after all their blustering about the "energy crisis". And during their wonderful convention. That half of them aren't going to anyway. Obama did fill sandbags in Illinois in the flooding there a few months ago. It was wonderful to see, compared to McSame and GeeDumbya with their cake and guitars and Condi with her boots. I too, hope there is a lot of Katrina reminders tonight, maybe not so much from Obama, he just needs to say what he's going to do. But everyone else needs to really hammer McCain and all the Repubicans on how they treated the victims of Katrina. And on the 45th anniversary of Dr. King's speech as well. Everyone seems to forget how bad these people were treated and have been treated for the last three years. It literally makes me physically ill to this day.
Mark in Florida

me too. I guess McSAME will have another cake ready.

Speaking as someone who just endured a bad tropical storm, my heart goes out to New Orleans. This looks bad folks....supposedley it will make landfall in N.O. as CAT 3.
Ah, the Irony. This does not bode well for the Neocons. They don't want to see black folk up on the roofs again..... or does the Republican party still use the word Neeegro.

McCain is going to put a commercial out when Obama does his speech. How freaking sad. If he wanted to use this strategy he should have carpeted the airwaves with commercials from the beginning of the convention. Its just too late now. This upcoming one will just cause us to laugh at him. The convention has been a success and he won't be able to stop the momentum. The republicans are going to suck next week. They don't have the energy, the talent, or the excitement to beat the Dems. An auditorium full of Karl Rove sickos and numb from the neck up "delegates"........yeah, that will work. Oh wait - they have Dick Cheney to save the day!!! I can't wait to see McCain implode.

Not that I'd wish such things on anyone, but a truly poetic cosmic karma would deliver a hurricane to New Orleans again just as St. Paul gets issued a tornado warning. As I say, I'm not wishing for it, but it would be an interesting way to get the low information voters' attention, you gotta admit.

However, for the record, I'll just settle for microphone feedback, dead airtime due to confusion in the schedule, and power outages at the RNC convention, and will leave the inclement weather alone.

I was in NOLA a few weeks ago-God help those poor people;they've had enough trouble for twenty lifetimes. Now, my karmic scenario involves massive hurricane damage to all of the gulf's evacuated offshore oil rigs--that would give the thrill-drillers something to cry about!

I guess the best birthday gift anyone could have given McPain, was Obama's rather well received, wonderful speech, yesterday. He took on McPain and the rethuglicans head on, and answered almost every negative thing they have been chanting these last few weeks. McPain can NEVER top that, and whatever he says against Obama, will pale into insignificance next week. Obama pulled this off brilliantly. There is no doubt he is someone solid, with good judgment, wisdom, and the ability to unite this whole country, after the sorry way, Bush, Cheney, and Rove, divided this country. Most of all, we can raise our heads in pride, because we will have a President who will be a great orator, and not a stammering, incoherent, buffoon.
