Like we miss Cholera
He wasn't tortured.
It was nothing but "fraternity pranks."
Also another point is that torture doesnt work. They tortured McCain for years and got no information out of it (supposedly, we will never know if McCain broke since he obviously would never admit it..)
True, but it gets worse. John McCain voted for the Military Commissions Act, which defines the treatment he received in Vietnam as not being torture. So even McCain thinks he wasn't tortured.
it is true, it points up bushco's colossal failure to condemn torture, and it destroys McCain's use of his POW status as qualification for president.
That's right up there with "Gee, Mrs. McCain.....that CAST has sure been on your SPRAINED wrist a long, long time"
Guess that would insinuate frailty. Think he'll jump with H.W. ?

I like her more after seeing that.
McCain's politics is a completely different story. All the negatives apply, evil, wrong, dispicable, sickening, liar, criminal, cheat, pond scum, and even worse, Republican. But that is distinct from his having served in our military and been a POW. There are those who have such records and deserve our condemnation, those being the SwiftBoaters, but I don't think McCain was ever one of those. We are liberals. Let us never abandon those standards or we might was well be Republican and neocons as there would be no difference and no reason to oppose them.
And another point: STOP DEIFYING MILITARY SERVICE.!!!
Admittedly, most of these issues seem not to have any traction. The principle of the repeating things often enough applies and given enough repetition, people will be convinced because these issues are true. The Republicans are highly effective using repetition to convince people their lies are true, such as the absurdity about the liberal media. We have truth on our side and repetition should be even more effective for us. But rolling in the filthy, stinking pig pen over lies about McCain's service record are unworthy of our side. We have mountains of real issues that are available to attack McCain without resorting to dishonest Swiftboating crap about McCain’s service record. And, lies boomerang when people realize we are lying.
The reality is we need to be persistent. One telling isn’t enough. The Republicans know that and they use repetition highly effectively to push their lies. Just because we tell the truth, we can’t expect that everyone realizes it or that they even hear the truth the first time. Republicans only have lies. We have the truth. Let’s make effective use of being on the side of the good guys. We might even be effective in converting Obama to a White Hat. <g>
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
We MUST NOT let this drop! We must chant this on the streets and include it in every letter to the editor. It matters not that this seems like something Karl Rove would do. It is TRUE, and Rove never dealt with truth.
My step-father, AJ Myers, Colonel USAF, suffered the same kind of treatment, and at the same time as McCain, at the same place.
Once he was re-patrioted, he differed with McCain on whether there were any US military personnel remaining in southeast asia. He was very disappointed that Nixon and Kissenger declared that they would not go back into the area to look for missing soldiers. He was convinced our government chose to abandon them. Read the book, Kiss The Boys Goodbye.
