In another sign of the struggling times, blogger Caveat Emptor notices there's a new Payday America is going up on Eat Street in Minneapolis. Like pawn shops, payday loan outlets are seeing a major uptick in business as the economy slumps.
• AT&T is catching heat this week for charging its customers a $2 "administrative fee" for paying their phone bills at an AT&T store. The Red Tape Chronicles says these types of extra charges are fleecing the 10 to 12 million Americans who don't have bank accounts.The good news? These customers are "lucky," according to one AT&T employee. Because the administrative fee is now going up to five bucks.
