I suggested this weeks ago. Better late than never.

My fear is that Americans don't care if McCain lies. They just don't want a black man as President. They would rather vote against their own interests.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
I am still hoping that you are wrong on this point, but we will see come November.
  • BarbaraGordon · 1 year ago
This is exactly what is making me nervous. I hope that the people who feel this way are primarily concentrated in red states which Obama was not going to win anyway. To counteract this in states like Ohio and Pennsylvania, we are going to need a huge turnout of African American voters AND poll watchers AND election lawyers to make sure that they are allowed to vote.

Its hard to gage the "Bubba" factor, but its real. Since the rePIGs have historically promoted racisism and homophobia, one would expect this factor to be higher then the law of averages might suggest.

About time someone did something right - a lie counter. Good.

Listening to Ed Shultz right now. He did a townhall in Alaska Saturday and he's playing the townhall on his show today.

It really is amazing how truthful people are about Palin.

A grandson visits his grandpa out on a ranch and they take a ride out on the range.

Grandpa, what do you call those cows? Those are Black Angus.

What about those way up on the hill? Those are called Mavericks – they are unbranded and aren’t owned by anyone right now.

What about those lying down there in the mud? I just call them McCain/Palins.

They should set it up so people can paste the code for the image on their web sites and MySpace pages and it automatically update with each new lie.

It's a start. Democrats, TAKE THE GLOVES OFF. The one thing I see from the polling data that leaps off the page is that people support the perception of strength, even if the reality is you come across as mean. We Dems like to say how voters don't respond to negative attacks, but they do.

My new world view is I'd rather see Obama take the oath of office while cleaning the mud from under his fingernails than to have him watch it on TV. Principles and honorable campaigning have left the Democratic party with 30 years of having only 2 POTUSs. This country is broken, by the GOPs hands, and it's time to wrestle the wheel from their cold-dead hands.

According to Crooks and Liars, push polling has started in Florida:

"Key West resident Joelna Marcus received a phone call today. She was asked if she is Jewish, and she replied in the affirmative.
She was asked if she was religious.
She was then asked if her opinion of Barack Obama would change if she knew that Obama had given lots and lots of money to the PLO."

Remnants of Bush's push pollling about McCain's daughter in North Carolina in 2000. He never forgave Bush for that, and now he's doing the same thing.

Again, this is an election, not a college debate tournament.

I no longer consider the Democratic party or its candidate as being deserving of our support. There is just no excuse for its weak response and failure to show even a minimal amount of backbone. This morning is just one more example of a party that is totally out of touch with our society and the needs of its people. I say that against the background and agreement that the Democratic platform is exactly what this nation needs.

    1. The Democratic party was placed in charge of Congress to stop the war in Iraq. Instead, it caved every single time to the Bush administration's outright lies that his veto of spending legislation with even minimal and aspirational time lines would demonstrate that the Democrats failed to support the troops. I am sorry but these people make me puke for their absolute lack of courage. When Bush vetoed FISA legislation until he got telecom immunity, the Democratic cowards failed to call him on it. Failed a full court press of how the President hated his country and placed us all in danger. No wonder why we see congressional approval levels so low. We will not even force the Republicans to actually filibuster to show the public how the Republicans are obstructing legislation. I puked again and realized that Democrats in Congress really are girlie men.

    2. Do we really even need to go over the records of Dukakis, Gore and Kerry with their failure to really fight back? Do we really see any difference with Obama. This is not about a higher road. This has gotten to the point of truly public humiliation of the Democrats as being nothing more than little sissies. And you know something, they are gutless wonders who will take the lies, distortions and humiliation while still failing to take their gloves off.

    3. This has nothing to do with clever campaign strategies. If these Democratic fools have so little self respect so as to take the truly, truly denigrating comments, ridicule and mockery without taking the gloves off to truly call their opponents out; then why the hell should we believe that they would ever, ever be capable of standing up to the corporate special interests or the Republicans in Congress.

    4. It is galling that the Democrats will let this happen over and over to them. This is a lesson that is spoken after every defeat and never acted upon. They lied, they mocked us, they made us look like sissies and we should have struck back. Yet they never do because the Republicans are right. The Democrats really are weak and have absolutely no spine. THE DEMOCRATS ARE NOT FIT TO GOVERN BECAUSE THEY ARE WEAK AND CRAVEN INDIVIDUALS,. THIS IS THE ONLY REASON WHY REPUBLICANS DO THIS TYPE CAMPAIGNING. THEY REALIZE THAT IN THE END, MOST WOULD NOT VOTE FOR SUCH COMPLETE LOSERS AND COWARDS. THAT IS WHY THE TACTICS BECOME THAT MUCH MORE BLATANT IN EACH ELECTION CYCLE. THEY KNOW THAT WE WILL NOT FIGHT BACK.

So lets hear your little pathetic responses as to how we are finally doing the job or that the corporate owned/right wing press will turn against McCain or that the polls will turn around. Let's hear the cowards excuse that fighting back (no matter how justified or how fairly done) will cost us the high road and election - just more cowards talk.

I have given up on this country. We deserve to become the fascist, corporate owned, theocratic state that we are becoming because the Democrats will not fight.

    Speaking of lies:
CAN ANYONE TELL ME EXACTLY WHEN, AND TO WHOM, SARAH PALIN SAID “THANKS BUT NO THANKS”?

This lie keeps being repeated but I haven’t read or heard of anyone asking just when and to whom she said it to.

I want to know…I think America wants to know…

    OBAMA, OH-EIGHT, OR ELSE!
  • ezpz · 1 year ago
Ugh! This is lame. Do they really think people will sit and read all this??
    IF so, then what?
The McCain supporters won't read it.
The Obama supporters don't need it.

They need to take it a step beyond 'liar liar' and fact checking.

Jared Bernstein has some wise words of advice that I *hope* the O camp will hear AND heed:
About how to handle the lies, Jared writes::

"So how do you beat these folks? .... while it's a race against time, the stakes are so high that we've got no choice but to devote all of our energies to establishing this simple meme:

They're telling lies, and liars make fatal leaders. I don't just mean fatal in terms of fiscal recklessness and more economic failure. I mean fatal in terms of decisions that could cost people their lives. Sound familiar?"

    "Liars make fatal leaders."

    Bingo!

Just to clarify my last comment.
It's fine to have a website to debunk the lies, but they need to go further.
They started to, but they need to take it a step further and point out the dangers of lying:

    ""Liars make fatal leaders."
