Ha ha! Too bad that is just a joke. Excellent way to dispose of chickenhawks. Sigh! <g>

Maybe they should take the chicken bone meal out of the dogfood so that our pets don't go batshit crazy before they die.... Just a thought. Read the labels....

    "Waste not, want not."
"A penny saved is a penny earned."

Who knew that the beef industry would take those sayings to such extremes?

The new FDA is getting back in the business of protecting consumers after an eight year drought.

Sigh! Much more than 8 years. It was Clinton who changed the function of those agencies from protecting consumers to advocating for industry. Thus far, the Obama administration has not done more than minor cosmetic changes, but they are still essentially advocates for industry as Obama is an advocate for the corporations, not for the people. We need to see a serious change, not just a few chickenshit cosmetic differences. Either completely revamp the FDA and agriculture departments or eliminate them and start over. The Obama administration is still primarily concerned with taking care of the wealthy, powerful, elite and corporations with no more than small changes for the sake of appearance only to protect the vast majority of citizens of this nation. He is better than Bush/Cheney, but that is hardly a claim to fame given just how disastrous the Bush/Cheney administration was.

As for the Bush/Cheney administration, they are so proud that they never allowed another 9/11. Yeah, except that no other administration ever bollixed (totally fucked over) the security of this nation so badly allowing such a massive major attack, not only on American soil in the lower 48, but in the heart of not only our largest city, but one of the great cities in the world. It is only by the grace of God that the death count was not far, far greater.

Thanks for the reminder. Sometimes I forget how entirely repulsive fast food is.

Thanks for this story. I had my middle school son read it and he has proclaimed no more McDonald's for him. He has been slowly changing his eating habits - more veggies, less sugar and asking to go to Subway instead of McDonald's or BK, but I think this story is the final nail in the coffin. Yeah! It is not going to be easy since they seem to place a McDonald's next to each high school and middle school in the area. :/

People interested in animal rights have known about this for years. Cows have also been fed cardboard.

I still eat meat but buy it from local producers. Grass fed beef costs more but I figure this is the true cost of meat. When you take the cheap way out you are paying for sh*t, cardboard, hormones, antibiotics, and a host of other chemicals that have zero nutritional value for you.

What worries me most about feeding poultry litter to cattle is this:
Most antibiotics used go into industrial animal food. The Salmonella, E.coli, listeria, etc, in poultry and other domestic animals guts become resistant, and are passed in feces, which is then fed to animals intended for human consumption, and the cycle repeats itself. Why is no-one making the connection with the food scares we see almost weekly?
