AMERICAblog: Crazy Michelle Bachmann's hate-filled comments, which she now denies, resulted in over $620,000 in contributions to her opponent

  • Busboy · 1 year ago
The people in Minnesota love to tax the working man. It's amazing that Michelle ever got elected in the first place. Time to tax the money in the savings account like Jimmy Carter proposed. A "tax on capital" should even the playing field...
  • Hurrycane · 1 year ago
What on earth does this have to do with Bachmann's McCarthyist remarks?

    Nothing.

Typical Republican maneuver... if you don't like the subject, just change it...
  • Fireblazes(CheetohsandCatfood) · 1 year ago
Busboy is an ignorant old troll. He cannot help but spout inanities like his heroes, McCain/Palin and their campaign to nowhere.
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
    bb is actually Americablog's pinata!

He's like the little pest or annoying know-it-all kid hanging around, but it's kinda fun to have him here and say things for comic relief. It fun to laugh at him.
  • Mickey7 · 1 year ago
I moved from MN to AZ three years ago. Low taxes here in AZ. Also worst educational record in the country, crappy beyond belief healthcare and a majority population who can't read the headlines in their own right-leaning newspapers. Yeah, that 'taxing the working man' stuff so that you can have a healthy, educated populace--that really sucks.

Minnesota is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited, with lovely people everywhere we went (we once drove all the way from Minneapolis to Thunder Bay, Ontario, with Lake Superior as the backdrop most of the way--fantastic trip). I was so troubled after hearing Bachmann Friday that the first thing I did Saturday was go directly to Tinklenberg's web site and send him the little bit that I could spare.

Is this woman a meth addict? Her eyes are spooky.
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
I mentioned that in one of the post when she first said gave her interview with Tweety.

Seriously, she reminds me of that other crystal meth freak: Ann Coulter!

    Bachmann’s “anti-American” remarks prompt write-in candidacy of GOP’s Immelman

The St. Cloud Times reports that Aubrey Immelman, Ph.D., a professor of political psychology at St. John’s University and the College of St. Benedict, registered yesterday as a write-in candidate. On his campaign site, Immelman references Bachmann’s words to Chris Matthews:

" And, as if incumbent Rep. Michele Bachmann’s enthusiastic support for these policies is not damaging enough, she now appears to be calling for a witch hunt to “find out [which members of Congress] are pro-America or anti-America.” We cannot tolerate this festering brand of neo-McCarthyism in our midst."

While Immelman garnered only 14 percent of the vote in the Republican primary, his entry may shave off support from Bachmann, who last week lead DFLer Tinklenberg by just four points, according to a Democratic party poll.

    That's great.

The few remaining sane Repubs will go third party, the nuts will go to Bachmann, and the remainder will go to the Democrat.
  • MnDem · 1 year ago
Good for El Tinklenberg. He's a good man who's more conservative than twin city dems, but fits that district very well. I didn't catch the local news the last couple of nights, but even my very non-political sister mentioned to me after church this morning what a nut case Michelle is.

The republicans will now have to pour lots of money into a race they thought was safe, and that means that there will be other races they will have to back away from.

Also, Michelle Bachmann will have a tough time going negative, since El is a minister, and central Minnesota Catholics and Lutherans will not take kindly to her (or her surrogates) attacking a minister. Should be a fun race to watch the next two weeks.

All this racist talk reminds me that just a couple of days ago a friend got a job doing the wardrobe for a Public Service Awareness campaign -- the basic message of which is that "brown people are not bad." The stories are people in situations where they encounter vaguely Middle Eastern or Hispanic people who look kinda threatening but then turn out to be good samaritans.
  • BarrieT · 1 year ago
Extraordinary that such a campaign should be necessary in 21st century America.

her misspelling of her own name suggests home schooling. or were her parents illiterate?
  • EllaDisenchanted · 1 year ago
Whoa now. I'm in a homeschool group of over 200 Democratic/Progressive home educators.

Be specific when you paint with that homeschooling brush. We're not all radical religious folk, some of us are just educated hippies. ;o)
  • Paul_In_SF · 1 year ago
Just to put all this into perspective, here is Tinklenberg's fundraising figures as of last week:

    Tinklenberg for Congress FR:

    Total Q2 $271,342.28
    Total cycle: $531,419.96
    Cash on hand: $225,238.01
    Spent Q2: $147,000
    Debt: None

Me thinks that there is major budget rewriting going on tonight in El's campaign office! If I read this correctly we have just more than doubled all the money he had total to run this campaign.
  • bkmn · 1 year ago
First, I have never voted for her, I live in a different district.

Second, I have never supported her.

Third, I hope she goes down for this. Bachmann, like Sarah Palin, both believe that their religion is the only true one.

I would love to see her and Sarah go toe to toe and debate about which one's religion is the "chosen" one.

We all know that the rest of us sinners are doomed to a lifetime in hell after all.

I don't even know the dude, but I gave $25... just because I
[To Paraphrase Captain Hook... ] I HATE, HATE, HATE that bitch.
Can I say Bitch? Is it OK when talking about her?
    Anyway.. I gave $25.00 plus a $2.00 Tip.
    GO DEMOCRATS, GO!!
  • MnDem · 1 year ago
For those of you reading this who live in Minnesota, do any of you think that part of the reason people vote for her is because of the name "Bachman"?

I live in a small, first ring suburb that's more small town than suburb. I know that there are families here whose names are very familiar to people who have lived here for many years, and people will often vote for those names without knowing anything about the candidate.

I know Michelle Bachmann is not related to the garden center Bachmans, but I wonder if just having the same name gets her votes? Especially two years ago, when she first ran for congress.
  • IAmATVJunkie · 1 year ago
Good point. I think this happens all the time.

For me, the occasional county judge gets voted for based on such criteria, but not my member of congress.
  • MNUSA · 1 year ago
She was endorsed from the pulpit by "The Winner's Way," mega-church owner, Mac Hammond.
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
Funny stuff indeed. She flat out denied it...chuckle. That's the beauty of the internet and instant play back.
  • henrythefifth · 1 year ago
I donated $50 when I saw her latest BS!
  • IAmATVJunkie · 1 year ago
I was one of those who saw this happening on the TV and I'm still looking for the bottom half of my jaw.

That she's denying it, even though it's everywhere, is so emblematic and at the same time so funny, I don't know whether to laugh or ... well, laugh more.
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
    That's funny.

A republiCON liar ... who knew!

    LOL
  • bill__free · 1 year ago
Why does it say $269,000+ when I click on his act blue link?
  • Paul_In_SF · 1 year ago
Because not all the donations were funneled through ActBlue. Many of the individual contributions were made directly to his campaign.
  • Kcunac · 1 year ago
    This is great.

The Dem, last poll, was only four points behind. Hopefully between her idiocy and the write in alternative, the vote splits in the Dem's favour and Beatitudes Barbie can devote herself full time to praying and fasting.

What in the hell is wrong with Minn? Coleman, and now this psychopath. How sick - what a couple of losers - so much for critical thinkers - maybe it gets too cold there.
  • MNUSA · 1 year ago
Hey, we also elected Paul Wellstone, Walter Mondale, Hubert Humphrey and Eugene McCarthy. Also, two years ago, besides Bachmann, we elected Amy Klobuchar, Tim Walz and Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to the House of Representatives. Minnesota is also the only state that elected a Socialist governor, Floyd B. Olson as well as a professional wrestler, whose name shall remain unmentioned. It can be a quirky state.
  • red_dwarf · 1 year ago
Point taken. Paul Wellstone, for starters, was a real hero (whom I personally believe was assassinated by the GOP). But Coleman and Bachmann - you guys need to get out of the ditch, right behind CT.
  • Cpeterka · 1 year ago

I'd like to know what other BS she said in the interview where she denies calling Obama anti-American. The tiny clip is not enough.

Michele Bachmann might regret inviting the media to investigate members of Congress and who they associate with:

Unfortunately she's my Rep., I've seen her in debates, and her stupid comments and behaviour are well documented. Yes, I'm embarrased as others are, but finally, she crossed a line the media can't ignore.
