Latest numbers from Alaska have been posted.
    Begich: 132,196
    Stevens: 131,382

If this trend continues, Begich should win the final tally by several thousand votes.

Shockingly, in the race for the at-large House seat, Don Young continues to expand his lead which now stands at over 15,000.

There is no easy way out of this. Its austerity and substantial devaluation of the US$ in the cards. People seems to be assuming that the US will somehow digest this gawdawful mess and recover in a year or two. But there is a real possibility that that will not happen and the impoverishment will be long lasting. Is it not up to the Chinese government currency traders to determine the outcome? I think so; and their masters have aspirations as it were.

As Jim Morrison once sang, "This is the End, my only friend, the end......"

I just love it. We've been together 25 years. We have no credit card debt. We pay our mortgage. I work hard and for years have put 25% of my income into my 401K for my retirement. The result: Our home value has dropped over 40%, I now have less money in my retirement account than I put into it, and my marriage was just voted down. I just love what the GOP and their "family values" have done for me! Throw in the war, and I'm just tickled pink.
