AMERICAblog: CREW files ethics complaint against McCain over undeclared gambling revenue

Now ask yourself another question. Has anybody resigned, from either the public or the private sectors (overlapping so lavishly as they now do)? Has anybody even offered to resign? Have you heard anybody in authority apologize, as in: “So very sorry about your savings and pensions and homes and college funds, and I feel personally rotten about it”? Have you even heard the question being posed? O.K., then, has anybody been fired? Any regulator, any supervisor, any runaway would-be golden-parachute artist? Anyone responsible for smugly putting the word “derivative” like a virus into the system? To ask the question is to answer it. The most you can say is that some people have had to take a slightly early retirement, but a retirement very much sweetened by the wherewithal on which to retire. That doesn’t quite count. These are the rules that apply in Zimbabwe or Equatorial Guinea or Venezuela, where the political big boys mimic what is said about our hedge funds and investment banks: the stupid mantra about being “too big to fail.”

good article by Christopher Hitchens who used to be left but became right when he had to get his U.S. citizenship.

    Bears reading the whole article.

excellent point. tells you something about the 'me-first' people who are in leadership positions in our society , doesn't it? sort of a 'social capitalism' ..

Yeah, besides the psychotic (as in unbalanced) anger problems, there does seem to be a money reporting problem and apparently tax evasion as well. I guess he and Sarah Palin are a better match than one would think (she who cheated on taxes for the last two years.)

Knowingly filing a false report is a crime punishable by up to five years in jail.

another 5 + in a cell might do him some good... he seems like he needs a refresher course.

The queasy part of the law is that if losses = winnings then you do not have to report it. But if you win a taxable amount, used to be over 600 dollars then you must report it. That amount is much more these days I am sure. He is a liar of course he cheated.

Doesnt it strike anyone as odd that one of the wealthiest men in the senate is gambling?? I mean really does he need any more money??

Or, could it possibly be he likes the thrill of gambling?? He lives for the up and down of it all? Maybe that's how he's running his campaign, as a thrill ride? hes a gambler alright, look at his choice for VP.

I hope CREW nails his ass to the wall with incontrovertible evidence!

In the mean time, the other "casino" is tanking.... The irony is to rich.

It is not so much the gambling. When you are a high stakes gambler you get wonderful perks!

Watching McCain on TV.....he's really making a hash out of the mortgage crisis.

It's obvious he doesn't know jack about economics.

Obama should start saying "What John McCain doesn't understand......" every time goes after McCain on economics.

It would drive McCain nuts to have his phrase turned against him.

McCain is living in a crystal cathedral while catapulting boulders at Obama. As nasty as McCain has become, he deserves everything he gets.
