I am proud of my republican governor ...he is reasonable and fair minded in his core.
  • henrythefifth · 1 year ago
Yeah, he did good w/ this. Also, didn't he say ACORN was not a problem a week or so ago?
  • KenyaJ · 1 year ago
He did, indeed. And I'm another Floridian in agreement with jescot.

I just wish Charlie would come out of the closet. It okay to be gay! :-)
  • gallery · 1 year ago
Guess Charlie is kinda pissed that he didn't keep that receipt for the wedding ring he was FORCED to buy when he was in the running for veep.
    Karma's a bitch.
  • henrythefifth · 1 year ago
Yeah, wonder how long his "marriage" will last.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
Olberman just said a top Republican said Crist just blew Fla for John McCain....hah
  • henrythefifth · 1 year ago
Isn't it sad that allowing people to exercise their right to vote=blowing it to Republicans. I am so sick of their voter suppression.
  • DavidinPS · 1 year ago
What makes me think McCain isn't the only ex-marine Charlie has stuck it to.
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
I call on Senator McCain to concede the election, without delay.
  • henrythefifth · 1 year ago
Crist also said that ACORN was not a problem. He's done TWO good things! Whoa, what am I to think?!?!

    Love it!

Rivals Nixon's debate quote: "America can't stand pat."

    Gotta love the double entendre.
  • mungobuh · 1 year ago
To Charlie: I know you have to say that it was a "people decision" but we'll totally understand if you truly mean it the other way around. No matter what, any effort to further the cause of democracy and vanquish the despotic Republicans is a good one.

    "Charlie Crist has flip flopped"

That's not fair. Crist has generally been in favor of expanding the vote. He is being consistent with his previous beliefs and actions. What's cool is that he's sticking to his beliefs rather than helping his party. In a state that's evenly divided, that's a smart position. People will change their positions on issues, but they will not forget who tried to prevent them from voting.

I have a feeling polls will need to stay open past 7pm in Virginia.
    Get ready
  • dacnova · 1 year ago
Anyone know if Crist is still engaged since he didn't get the VEEP nod? Just askin'...
  • fostert · 1 year ago
I'm pretty sure he is. Certainly haven't heard to the contrary. But let's face it, a Cover Wife is always good in politics. You can always say: I'm not gay, I'm married to a woman. Wow, that was weird, I just realized that I now have to add "to a woman." Cool, that didn't used to be the case. Anyway, the Cover Wife doesn't fool any gays or anyone with gay friends. But it does fool right wing Christians. It's perfect for Crist.

I want to know where these ads are playing. I haven't seen one "No" TV ad here in Central California, not one.

After having to wait 2 hours to vote today, I applaud Gov. Crist's decision. However, in talking to the poll workers, they are not as happy, since that also means that their hours have been extended as well, with no relief in the form of additional workers.

What's up with the Hotline early voter poll KO just showed? 047 M46
That can't be right, can it?
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
That might have been one state. I think you will like these numbers.

"Their preference: Barack Obama over John McCain, by 60-39 percent."

We should all commend anyone in their party that puts his or her citizens above party ...I am proud to be a Floridian tonight ( that was just a little hard to say) .
  • paulo · 1 year ago
Maybe I'm paranoid but is this well within the governor's powers? I mean are we going to see a post election challenge of every early vote after Obama takes Florida?
  • Milli · 1 year ago
What a sad day for democracy.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
This is well within the authority of the governor of Florida and has been done before, even by Jeb Bush! This is also a very good example of how Charlie comes through in the clinches and gets himself elected.
  • paulo · 1 year ago
Thanks Indigo, Like I said call me paranoid. The last time my state was a battleground the French and their Indian allies were attacking the English.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
wish they'd do this in New Orleans...i heard the wait is four hours to vote there and people are just leaving...
  • Mark in Florida · 1 year ago
This was a good move by Crist. It will only benefit our side. I will still have a tough time forgiving Crist for putting his signature on that awful marriage amendment petition.
  • kh7463 · 1 year ago
Indiana has extended theirs as well, except the early sites are only in Lake and I believe Marian counties. What I was surprised at is they are opening the sites on Monday the 3rd until noon. Especially in Lake, where they made national news on primary night because they got their numbers in so late.

I agree about the poll workers, I feel sorry for them. Been there, done that. And this election is going to be rough.
  • qi6588 · 1 year ago
Might be that Crist is just acting in his own interests. The Dems would certainly be more tolerant of his orientation. Pity that Larry Craig couldn't have been so high minded or rational.
