Just heard BBCAmerica talking about the McCain debacle. The reporter said McCain was trying to appear presidential, the only trouble is that it is difficult appear presidential if you are dragged kicking and screaming into the debate.

shows that Bush really doesn't know history. It started in the early 80s under Reagan, with the deregulation of the S&Ls, before the '89 bailout... $160 billion that time... and McCain was one of the Keating Five who helped rob American taxpayers back then...

I believe Obama sees politics as a necessary evil, not a lifestyle, like McCain's crew. But, when he's forced to parry political attacks, he's proven himself to be pitch-perfect in his responses. Let's face it, there is no choice but to show up when the President calls you to a meeting. But, I feel pretty comfortable with Barack Obama talking sense at the meeting and staring down the smirky Dick Cheney while he's at it.

Don't be surprised if the big meeting on Thursday in Washington, DC, somehow gets extended to a three day meeting, sadly preempting the debate. Oh, and why do we have to look to comedians to hear the truth in our country? Someone (a little French Emperor) once said that a newspaper was more to be feared than a thousand bayonets. He sure wasn't talking about the United States.

I wonder how far McCain is from conceding the presidency to Obama weeks before the election. Seems to me that blowing off Lettermen was just about there. He can't face the music. He knows if he lets the election go through he is going be humiliated like no other candidate for the presidency has ever been. He might as well have conceded and won't even be able to go another week with the kind of pressure the "liberal" media is going to apply before he turns tail and quits, even announces he is now a French citizen..

This letterman thing is completely horrible - on cbs's part. Doesn't anyone realize cbs was the only news channel to not cover this? Why? Because the Couric interview was not live as Letterman made his viewers believe, it was taped 6 and half hours earlier. By the time letterman had his show McCain was gone. Letterman is the real liar.

Nmpet - before you go accusing Letterman of "being a real liar" numbnuts - they tape all the late night shows in the late afternoon about 4 PM, if you ever get the hayseed out of your brains and go to the shows taping in NYC and Burbank,CA - in the case of Leno, you would know this isn't really a live show. In the case of Letterman chances are pretty good he blew of the Letterman interview as stated.
