AMERICAblog: Dear AP: Please stop. You're not helping.

I'm finding the new system rather entertaining. I like it. The indentation works well, for me.
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
What sells in an increasingly infotainment oriented society is of little importance for the functioning of a healthy Democracy.

It's not like there's anything important out there, like the tragedy of Iraq, to report on, I guess.

What? No kidnapped blond white women to report on?
  • Joshau Norton · 1 year ago
The likes of AP, Brian Ross and the "ABC Investigative Unit" should all resign immediately and seek employment more suited to their talents, like writing copy for porn sites. What the hell is wrong with these people?
  • johnosahon · 1 year ago
well, if they can be harassing obama about a pastor who is not running for office, they have a right to question her own crap, after all if another sex scandal occurs again in the white house, the economy , iraq war and other issues will be put on the backside for irrelevant drama, just like the last time.
  • Rab · 1 year ago
Bread and Circuses for everyone while the real issues are tossed into "the not interesting enough for me" category. I think freedom of the press means to the press is the freedom to write about useless crap.
  • nicho · 1 year ago
When you live in a society that considers voyeurism entertainment this is what you get. Trash talking other people is seen as clever. Embarrassing people in public is fun. "Punking" someone is cute. Going through someone's garbage is just "gathering political intelligence." An in-your-face "fuck you" attitude makes you macho.

The country is really very sick -- and politicians and the media merely reflect that.
  • Human · 1 year ago
The whole idea is to make it so that the timeline revelations have exactly the same reaction you had. Peace.

an incident where Bill Clinton laid into Jessica Yellin

i dont think you want to use the term "laid" when talking about Bill Clinton..

The AP...former home of John Solomon, one of my favorite journalists...snark off.
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
Thank you Jax. Crap like this only makes Clinton supporters dig in their heels further, prolonging this thing to everyone's detriment but the GOP. (That might be why the media is doing it?)

tucker is still hurting america by his guest appearances on other msnbc shows. doesnt this guy have any sense of shame? they fired him.

Did anyone really expect the Corporate MSM to be helpful, fair, or honest during this process?

    No, neither did I.
  • Joshau Norton · 1 year ago
No matter what happens in upcoming primaries, there will be no clear winner. The "super delegates" should all be rounded up after Pennsylvania and told to just vote and get it over with. They don't need to prolong this crap by waiting until the convention. There's no way to elect a democrat with a split party on Labor Day.
  • hector · 1 year ago
Don't bother. Hillary has been teflonized from crap like that...Brian Ross at ABC spent HOURS doing the same thing. Rove was the only reader, and was to see if he could hack....

Hillary, Hillary and the blue dress. Who cares? I don't care about any of that. But Hillary and all her minions are salivating that the election is now about race (scarey black men). I'm sick to my stomach as all these "liberals" go out on the talk shows and keep talking about scarey black men instead of scarey Cheney, Bush and McCain. I'm sick to my stomach because Hillary and her best buddy McCain are thrilled because now it as all about race.
  • davidkc · 1 year ago
Sorry, but I say this is all fair game. The post right below yours describes how Hillary is using race-baiting, racially divisive, double-standard tactics, all in the name of proving she's more "electable." Well, if Hillary somehow managed to steal the Dem nomination, the GOP 527s are certainly going to dredge up all of the many, many skeletons in the Clintons' closet, including the Lewinsky scandal. So it's fair to remind people of this now. I thought Hillary was all for full "vetting."

KKKarl Rove? Shouldn't he be in jail, along with numerous others?

The very fact that the MSM hires these felonious scumbags says a lot about the MSM anyway.
  • cambridge1246 · 1 year ago
When I saw this come out yesterday I sent off a blistering email to CNN. I found this kind of reporting nothing more but worse than the tabloids you buy at the supermarket checkout. It was sleazy and totally uncalled for.
  • Webster · 1 year ago
It's the Corporate-distract-the-people-MSM. Of course it's sleazy and uncalled for. We all do what we do best.
  • Joshau Norton · 1 year ago
"I thought Hillary was all for full "vetting.""

Not when the MSM and supposed "dems" are just recycling the old Repug talking points.

I don't have a dog in this fight because I'm not crazy about either one of them. But one of them will be the dem nominee and it's time to get our shit together.
  • Tom3 · 1 year ago
I'd like to see how far away I can throw this Disqus.

It is constantly sending me emails. How do I shut it up??

I'm an old fogey and don't like change. Harrumph.

The AP has done some good news stories too. But they are like everything else in America, divided by Chimpy. Some of the AP people are obviously partisan Repukes and they are constantly violating the AP's own code of ethics.
  • Tom3 · 1 year ago
I don't like the reply thing. It turns this from one chat into a bunch of little chats. I think its divisive.
  • Tom3 · 1 year ago
It actually is divisive in a physical way. When you add a new comment, the new comment is posted above.

But when you reply, the reply is posted below.

So the blog is literally going in two directions at once.

    Its making me dizzy.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
I predicted yesterday this would happen: where was Hillary when the Eleven Blow Jobs were occurring? If Monica was smoking Bill's cigar in the same house Hillary was in, and she didn't know, how can she protect MY house from invading horny interns?
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
The West Wing is hundreds of feet from the Residence. Even within the West Wing, the President can quickly arrange to be insular.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Yes, but Hillary needed to be more vigilant and she wasn't! She should have been on roving patrol! We can't trust her to be awake at 3AM or any other time to guard our houses from invading horny interns!!
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
I don't hold anyone responsible for a spouse's infidelity and I can't imagine how it predicts someone's competence in another role.

They're having an orgy with the info that has landed in their laps--with fantasies that they are investigative journalists.
  • martha · 1 year ago
I'm not a computer geek, but this comment thing sucks. There is no continuity.
  • Tom3 · 1 year ago
Have you been in here when there are over 100 comments?

How are you going to keep up when new comments are sprinkled up and down seven pages of scroll??

    reply sucks.

When do they target McCain with this type of crap? When?

Because there are lots of juicy bits there. Jucy, felonious, mafia connected, immoral bits to play over and over and over again.

damn, someone already has my user name, hahah
  • Tom3 · 1 year ago
Add New Comment works great. Keeps everything in line the same way Haloscan did, but better. Disqus seems to be a more stable program.

    reply still sucks.
  • devis1 · 1 year ago
I'm not liking this reply thing either but there is a very noticeable reduction in trolls.
  • devis1 · 1 year ago
The trolls may need a training seminar before they can re-infiltrate.
  • Tom3 · 1 year ago
The only bad thing about this new chatroom is that we can't just change nicknames and pics on the fly. But thats the price of progress I suppose.

I haven't tried this yet on the pocket blogger. It uses a simple IE without activeX or java. Halo worked on it. I will have to test Disqus on it.
  • Tom3 · 1 year ago
Maybe if we made it so new comments are at the bottom.

Then both comments and replies would post in the same direction.

And stop the spinning in my head.

    reply still sucks.
  • butchcjg · 1 year ago
The Lewinsky thing seems relevant to me. Hillary claims that she was Bill's confidant and co-President, that he was consulting her on major foreign policy issues and that this makes her "presidential." Yet, for 4 years of that presidency he was either actively lying to her, cheating in the next room, or sleeping on the couch. How much of a confidant was she then?
  • Tom3 · 1 year ago
The Kossacs have this double posting method. They also let you choose how you look at at the posts. I always do it flat by time.

I'm an old linear thinker I guess. The trolls will really hate this.
  • martha · 1 year ago
I used to like to go to the new post and back to the old post to see the comments but now you have to go thru a zillion steps.
  • Tom3 · 1 year ago
This reloads very fast, quicker than Haloscan did.

    And it is more stable.

But the two-way commenting is like playing 3-D Spock chess after playing regular chess.
  • martha · 1 year ago
People don't want their comments to go off to one person. They want to respond to a thought and have someone respond to their thought and on and on.
  • martha · 1 year ago
Obama tried to open the conversation yesterday and today Americablog put up roadblocks to real conversation. I found it interesting that posters tonight are happy that there are not so many trolls. I have no problem with trolls. The patriot act got rid of the trolls in our government. Yes, I was a troll in fighting our govt..
  • Demo_Dave · 1 year ago
John McCain has to be the happiest man in the world....Go figure we thought the Democrats had it in the basket this year. Obama won't and can't win at this point. The Wright situation is not going away. I live in a small town and every Obama supporter that I know is now reconsidering voting for him. You guys are beating up Clinton so it looks like eight more years of the same.
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
Remind your Obama supporters this is only March. By the time the general rolls around, people will once again be panicking about the cost of living and drum beat for war in Iran (if they haven't already attacked by then). This too shall pass.
  • kevinbgoode · 1 year ago
I already assume the Associated Press has endorsed John McSame.
  • Bluestocking · 1 year ago
In all honesty, I think you're giving the AP far too much credit. Frankly, I think it's safe to assume that whoever wrote that story didn't want to help -- but rather the reverse.. As it happens, I don't especially want Clinton to get the Democratic Party nomination -- but this story was nothing more and nothing less than a cheap shot and a not-so-veiled attempt to sabotage Clinton's candidacy by reminding people of the Monica Lewinsky scandal. ENOUGH, already!
