Obama is what America needs after eight (16 if you count the Clintons) years of lies and misleadership. Obama is a breath of fresh air.

Obama has a great smile. Bush has a stupid smirk. The Clintons have their stains and wagging fingers.

I have to say, Americablog has been super the last few weeks. Thanks, John for some great blogging, and that orchid was a beaut.

How come everyone thinks any of this will make any damn difference? Nobody comes within sniffing distance of the White House without the corporate stamp of approval on their ass. I will bet you that troops will still be in Iraq at the END of Obama's or Hillary's, or McStain's term. The system is rigged. If voting really made a difference it would be illegal.

Obama has quite an interesting and beautiful vision to move the United States forward.

Here is an example of the vision McCain and the GOP have for the United States:

A majority of the House GOP has voted against motherhood.

On Wednesday afternoon, the House had just voted, 412 to 0, to pass H. Res. 1113, "Celebrating the role of mothers in the United States and supporting the goals and ideals of Mother's Day," when Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R-Kan.), rose in protest.

"Mr. Speaker, I move to reconsider the vote," he announced.

Rep. Kathy Castor (D-Fla.), who has two young daughters, moved to table Tiahrt's request, setting up a revote. This time, 178 Republicans cast their votes against mothers.

178 Republicans actually voted against Mothers' Day.

Apparently, this was part of a general attempt to prevent the House from getting anything done...

    Obama/Webb.

Yeah, Webb hasn't been in the senate very long, but for a change agent like Obama, that's a good thing.

Besides, Webb is the only pol who can believably call McCain a little wuss.
  • 1billinnj2 · 1 year ago
the clintions will still try steal this nomination.
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
DC, you can bet Todd Tiahrt will be discovered in a sex scandal soon.

That would serve the idiot right. Wonder how that made HIS mother feel? And his wife? Oh that's right...women mean nothing to fundie men.

This is GREAT news! You can practically feel that there is real hope for our nation now.
I have no doubt that Sen. Obama will beat McSame by huge margins in the general election. People want change, fresh ideas and solutions.
Stand them side by side, McSame represents all the failed policies and ideas of the past and Obama represents all that the future can be for the betterment of us all.

    Obama '08!

(Psssst....Hillary. See that door? Use it.)

But Hillary is promising everybody a free half tank of gas!

    Doesn't that mean anything?
  • debrazza · 1 year ago
Now someone just needs to tell Hillary that the game is over. Talk about last throes. This is just a full on hissy fit.
  • Coming Undone · 1 year ago
The Clinton's will say that West Virginia is a game changer again, because poor uneducated white people will never vote for Obama. What if poor uneducated white people would never vote for a woman?
Hillary will tolerate racism but not sexism.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
I know the Superdelegates running to Hillary was another Clinton pipe dream.

They know the Clintons all too well.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
What if poor uneducated white people would never vote for a woman?

    ----

    Funny thing is, they won't.

In the white trash lexicon: White woman beats black man, but white man beats them all.
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
Two things I'll never forgive the Clintons for: Hillary's protection of Bill's personal mistreatment of women, and their pandering racism.

I would expect real progressives to be better than to exhibit that kind of behavior. Of course, you choose candidates based on what you know, and some are able to keep secrets very well, depending on their persona and can put on a certain kind of face when necessary.

I don't believe any of that about Obama. What you see is what you get. If he could survive Chicago politics without any major scandals, he can survive DC. He has the strength of commitment to the voters to do that.

i do not forgive bill clinton for don't ask/ don't tell. and the defense of marriage
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
1billinnj2, I should have clarified that as personal traits (which I don't divorce from the political, though); and I agree with you, along with NAFTA, repeal of Glass-Steagall, and a few others policies while in office, as well as Hillary lying about her "experience and qualifications" (she, who until NY, had never held political office but did hobnob with a corporate law firm, Walmart, lobbyists, etc., perfecting her corporate bona fides).

When Obama wins the election in November, the world's largest celebration will take place. There will literally be dancing in the streets WORLDWIDE.

    Must see!

Today was National Lettercarriers Food Drive day. I used to pick up 18 - 20 mail tubs of food, this year I picked up THREE. The economy is fixing to change this country and the result will be unreconizeble to most people. Rally around the one you can trust.

talking heads are now delighting in saying "it's over" but they would have done us a far greater service by saying that months ago when it was over instead of delighting in the higher ratings that taking the irresponsible bait offered by Hillary and the Republican machine that Hillary was still "in it" running neck and neck with Obama when she wasn't (and everyone who follows this stuff knew she wasn't)

hopefully two months late won't mean four more horrible years

Hillary and Bill are still telling people that she can and will win this nomination. If you listen to Hill and Bill, according to them it is a tie and they
have the edge and states like West Virginia and Kentucky can win it for her.

They tell voters don't listen to the media or pundits, basically just listen to them. The Clinton's are not going away because they still believe that the racism in America will win the nomination for them.

    From Hillary

As more voters make their choice for the Democratic nomination, there is growing interest in the facts and myths about the race to reach 2208 delegate votes - the number required for a candidate to secure the nomination with Florida and Michigan included. The Obama campaign is claiming, without precedent or justification, that automatic delegates (commonly referred to as super delegates) should switch to Sen. Obama based on arbitrary metrics, with the aim of tilting the delegate balance in his favor. The fact is: no automatic delegate is required to cast a vote on the basis of anything other than his or her best judgment about who is the most qualified to be president.

FACT: There is a clear path to an overall delegate majority (pledged + automatic) for Hillary Clinton after all states have voted -- with or without Florida and Michigan.

This is on Hillary Clinton's website under delegate facts.

All things considered, this has been and promises to be the best presidential election any of us (even those in HRC's demographic) will remember. What a great campaign and what an awesome candidate Obama is! I can't wait until he and Michelle move into the WH!
  • nsr · 1 year ago
I left a snide comment about Bill in connection with the half delegate, but came back and cut it. I did believe in him once, and I just can't stay mad at the big jackass. Besides, Obama's won.

I just want to say that whoever does that Democratic Convention Watch website is doing a GREAT job. Very well done.
  • GrahamCrackerDC · 1 year ago
Sad to say, but Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic nominee.
  • John Aravosis · 1 year ago
LOL What are you, high, Graham? Dude, seriously, trolling without an ounce of credibility isn't real trolling. Just ask Busboy. :-) You gotta have at least 1% of your story right in order to piss people off. No one here thinks Hillary is going to win it. We're just worried that she's making it so Obama won't win it against McCain in the fall.
