Chris, tell our French friends to be cautiously optimistic. The powers that be military complex here have a way way of crushing the people's hopes in this country.

I read the news that the Army is planning its own air force. The US Airforce, which has been heavily infiltrated by the fundies, are furious. The actual grunts on the ground who know what it's like instead of the "celestial" ones.

    Interesting...

Yes, lots of Mormons in the Air Force.

    Lots of other fundies too.

The AF Academy was pretty famous for trying to convert cadets, even Jewish ones, to fundamentalist Christianity.

Of course, most of the other branches of service have officers trying to convert recruits to fundamentalist Christianity too, so it's hard to tell exactly which branch will load up the nukes and try to set off Armageddon.

christianists, the American people much rather prefer a debauched military than a pious one. You know that, too, huh?

When Obama wins this November, there will be worldwide dancing in the streets. And Everything will be coming up roses, as this kid attests: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gXKxipviCY

And let us hope that all the registered U.S. voters overseas have their votes counted. There were major screwups about that in 2000 and 2004, as I recall.

I am a fierce independent and despise both parties personally. However it is good to see people getting along and united for some of the common good. I hope Obama if elected, pans out as advertised.I also think the photo is good.

As noted recently on the “Focus on the Family action” website citizenlink.com, conservative fears of a supposed return to the Federal Communications Commission’s long-defunct Fairness Doctrine remain unabated. In a post entitled “Take Action: Ask Congress to Protect Talk Radio,” Managing Editor Jennifer Mesko recently wrote, “Democrats have threatened to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine which would force conservative stations to broadcast liberal viewpoints.”

In response, says Mesko, “Radio broadcasters and some members of Congress are calling on Democrats to celebrate July Fourth — dubbed “Radio Independence Day” — by pledging to protect the airwaves from censorship.”

I still think the only thing that separates the ancient Roman Senate from the US Senate is that the togas have been tailored into the suit and tie!!
