The plan right now is for a dignified McCain to parachute onto the White House southlawn with red and blue smoke flares attached to his feet...

Or he will actually drive the Straight Talk Express bus straight through the wall and fly through the windshield in full POW drag screaming fight, fight, fight, drill, drill, drill!

Whatever it is has to be limited in scope just to fit within Cindy's pinpoint pupils, for one thing!

She'll be working the accelerator and brakes and rubbing grandpa's thigh to keep him calm and Sarah has loaned him a pair of knock off designer eyewear so he hits the right building.

Funny, wonder if this means the debate is "back on". Or if mccain's campaign is too disorganized/frantic and still bails, making it clearer than ever it had nothing to do with the economic crisis and everything to do with his failing campaign.

Of course McCain isn't there, this is just a diversion to keep the media from focusing on the Palin/Couric interview and to keep Obama from his debate preparations. We all know McCain will show up at the debate, that's all he's doing right now is prepping himself, he has no interest in the economy (unlike Obama who has submitted 5 pieces of legislation this year on it, McCain none). McCain was hoping to get the VP debate delayed and if that didn't happen then he figured a few days of keep Obama off his game would help McCain in the debate on Friday. It's purely political this move and the Press better start calling him on it.

Looks like Boehner is now saying the house repugs aren't on board this bill.
I guess the democrats will have to pass Bush's plan without them.

Obama should show up no matter what. If there's an empty podium next to him he should still have a question and answer period saying that at least the American people deserve to know something about ONE of the candidates.

I have heard segments of the Palin-Couric interview, and boy, it seems like the gift that keeps on giving!!
Palin has displayed outrageous ignorance and utter incoherence on 1. McCain's history of reforming legislative proposals, 2. the reasons the economic bailout is essential, and 3. her 5th grade Geography class foundation for her foreign policy savvy.
What other areas has she shined brightly in?

Apparently there is no urgency in the stock market crisis. Bush & the GOP are using scare tactics again. Who cares if your retirement funds, and mortages go down the tube. They are rich anyway and can care less about the American people as long as they can win by any means necessary.

Well, it didn't take long for congress to cave into the cries of Paulson, Bernanke and the President in order to saddle the American tax payer with this burden. Isn't that always the way these things work out? It's always a problem when you have more workers than than masters of the universe at the top of the pecking order and this problem will never change in this country unless we actually were ruled under the Constitution. it would have made more sense for the taxpayers $700 billion to be used to shutter the Federal Reserve once and for all rather than as in the past having a nation begging hat in hand for dollars printed out of thin air from a private banking cartel. Some day hopefully the American people will wake up and turn apathy and outrage into something a bit more constructive. Now apparently isn't our time. This agreement still changes nothing for the individual. Their still hanging by a thread. Living on make believe credit, and now the biggest financial addict in the world just got another fix in order to get him to the next crisis which is the toxic dump known as derivatives according to Warren Buffet. He must have known that the fix was in if he was willing to commit five billion of his own funds for Goldman Sachs. The reality is that you get the government you vote for and we have just been royally screwed.

Why are the Democrats carrying the water for Bush and Paulson? They should be demanding more hearings with people NOT from Wall Street and the Bush Administration to get alternative ways of dealing with the "sky is falling" situation. The Repubs are obviously trying to distance themselves from this mess, while the Democrats seem gung ho to bail out Wall Street.
I guess the democrats will have to pass Bush's plan without them.
