AMERICAblog: Did you hear the one about the fish and the oil platform

  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
Breathtaking. Pre-senile dementia, I'm tellin' ya.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
CNN. Now...Morgan Stanley failing...maybe bought be Wachovia. Asian markets falling. WaMu failing.

But, hey, everything is okay!!!! No problems!!! A-OK!!! Tomorrow is another day! Keep your sunny side up! Herbert Hoover for President!
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
I am so glad I pulled all of my money out of Morgan Stanley almost two years ago. I'm considering doing the same thing with my bank. Only problem is that most everything is automated and pulling money out would throw all that out of whack.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
Don't pull out! Oh wait, wrong subject! Why pull out of your bank? And do what with your money? I checked out of uninsured accounts to put the funds INTO banks for FDIC. Too much exposure otherwise. Can always reinvest later. Still have too much exposure in stocks, check out of those now and big OUCH.
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
The only reason I'm leaving money in the bank is because I have automatic deposit and it would really mess things up. One has to cash the checks anyway so I'm not leaving a significant amount in but enough to continue transactions and paying the bills. I do not trust this government to do the right thing when it comes to the common man. Try reaching your money if Bush declares Martial Law.

why does he want this job? he has 12 houses and $100 million and very little quality time left.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
my guess is to show the repubic toughguys that he's not a pussy.
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
for the first time i can remember, an AOL reader poll is going against mccain. AOL subscribers are overwhelmingly conservative (and presumably white).

losing $750 billion will change your mind!
  • lauren1959 · 1 year ago
MSM needs to play things like this....
  • mf_roe · 1 year ago
What type of ignoramus could draw confidence from a performance like that? McShame's supporters scare me worse than McShame himself.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
    a confident ignoramus?
  • mf_roe · 1 year ago
That does define McShame voters well.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Isn't he the same guy that was an auto-industry town and told them that those jobs weren't coming back?

A little straight talk is what I believe he was giving them.
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
OT: big swing to Obama in NYT/CBS poll:
    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/09/17/opini...

1/4 of hillary women prefer mccain. so exactly what are their issues?
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
    He sounded kind of uppity.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Have yo noticed that he didn't have the top of his head spray-tanned?

    It's burnt all to Hell.

I'm just glad that typing while intoxicated isn't a crime yet.

Speaking of typing, isn't it neat that McCain doesn't know how to use the series of tubes and went on to invent the Blackberry?
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Typing while intoxicated is basically intuitive... sometimes gratifying.......
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
sure, just ask him what QWERTY means and we will see how much he knows.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
If Obama wins? What's he gonna be in charge of? The dirty dishes?
  • kirkaracha · 1 year ago
We can't bust heads like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to tell them stories that don't go anywhere. Like the time I took the ferry to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe so I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on them. "Give me five bees for a quarter," you'd say. Now where were we, oh ya. The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because if the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
    . . . don't stop now, it's just getting interesting . . .
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
yeah, I kind of wondered what he or she is running for. I was thinking of voting for him/her.
  • WPE · 1 year ago
Something was called "yellow fatty beans", but I can't pull it. Oh, this is going to bother me.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
"It's not a healthy thing, obviously." Yeah . . . I'd say that sums it up.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
    I think you misunderstood.

He was actually telling a story and then he realized that Sarah has a tanning bed.

Senator Phil Gramm was a senior adviser to John McCain just a couple of months ago. Remember the "nation of whinners," remark? He was the chairman of the senate banking committee for a while (now he's employed by UBS, surprise! not.) and made a few contributions to our country, like the Enron loophole and that one law...what was it called... oh yeah:
The Gramm-Leach-Biley Act, "An Act ... providing a prudential framework for the affiliation of banks, securities firms, and other financial service providers, and for other purposes," reversing parts of the Glass-Steagall Act, passed after the Great Depression.
Passed house: 221(R) and 6(D) in favor, 202(D) and 1(I) opposed. (Roll call 264, 1999).
    Passed senate: 53(R) and 1(D) in favor, 44(D) opposed. (Vote 105, 1999).

If you drink enough, can you figure out how many years it will take to bust the DOW at 500 points a pop?
  • SuperPatriot · 1 year ago
So basically, what he's saying is that man and fish can co-exist peacefully? :)
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
Serious question: What the fuck is that old fool babbling about? Did I miss something?
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Something about a fish, oil, platforms and danger.

    Turns out it isn't healthy.
  • njprogressive · 1 year ago
yeah i was wondering the same thing. he kind of jumps around there. damn alzheimer's
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
If McCain had 26 years to learn the Economy, how can he now blame Obama that has only been around for 3?

These companies have been flailing for more than 3 years, by far.

Why didn't the Keating 5 investigate it? They're all still alive.
  • mf_roe · 1 year ago
Still well paid I'll wager. Lets ask for testimony from victims of the S&L meltdown do they feel they were well served by McShame?
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
If it wasn't for money, John McCain wouldn't have a single testimonial from anyone.

I'm sure there has got to be at least one family that doesn't mind that John McCain was to be taking care of wounded soldiers and ,yet, he let them lay around Walter reed in their own piss and got Bob Dole to cover for him. Did you see any Republicans object to "Good 'Ol Bob Dole" leading the investigation........only to have McCain use Walter Reed Middle School at The Convention?

That whole Walter Reed Middle School Bullshit should never die.

If you drink enuf, can you make Suze Orman go away? I don't care if she is a lesbian. She just isn't helpful and I'm tired of her in black pleather.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
She'll go away. There's no such thing as "kinda Republican", and everyone is catching on.

All they have left is bombings around the worl that didn't exist last week.

Time for those color-coded terror alerts.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Maybe he was talking about incontinence. I bet he knows not to hold pee. Senator Vitter told him that.

Usually Senator Craig lets him know when his bladder's full.
  • Coming Undone · 1 year ago
John McCain sounds like Bush's elderly grandfather trying to explain something George told him, because the point in the story is basically fish is some good eatin!
  • eclecticbrotha · 1 year ago
So what was the moral of that story? "Its not just an oil rig, its a meal?"

God, the guy's spouting complete gibberish. "Not only is it helpful for energy, it can be some pretty good meals as well?"
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
I think he told the fish that it was no Jack kennedy.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Wonder what he'd say if asked if Sarah knows Qwerty as well as him?
  • Coming Undone · 1 year ago
Wi-Fi for John McCain is Wi- I- Fi - another wife.
  • donotmakemecomedownthere · 1 year ago
    The whiteness is blinding!

Another fish story from the McCain campaign.
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
He can't even keep his thoughts in order. vacillating from oil rigs to fish to Cuba and China and trying to tie it all together with the equivalent of "you should be scared." He's right on that account, we should be very afraid of him becoming president.
  • Mike · 1 year ago
I work for an oil company (and have been offshore) -- and YES, fish do happen to like the rigs in the gulf as they provide protection in the open ocean. When platforms are due to be decommissioned, they are cleaned out and imploded into artificial reefs that provide habitat... and yes, some companies allow you to fish off the platform, but most platforms are too high up to do it safely.

McSame on a rig in the Gulf of Mexico though is about as inspiring as Dukakis in a tank.
  • Msinformed · 1 year ago
I've been on party boats in the Gulf that have tied up to oil rigs to fish . It's crazy...McCain said something that wasn't a lie.
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
    That was gibberish.

Someone posted that earlier.....but that really hit the nail on the head.

    That was gibberish.

It was like watching a comic act on a Thursday Night at the Waldorf, Maryland Holiday Inn.
  • jsdc007 · 1 year ago
And with the oil from the rigs, you can fry the fish and have yourself a big ol' fish fry.
  • whomod · 1 year ago
Wow. 48 comments here and my JeffGannon alt is the 1st on to post something on YouTube??

    slackers! ;)
