AMERICAblog: Distraction Alert. You know it's coming.

someone famous will probably die again
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
Maybe, but it won't distract from the economy.
  • anonone · 1 year ago
The hacked e-mail account is the distraction. This has Rove’s fingerprints all over it. Remember the stolen debate video? Remember the Dan Rather - Bush National Guard Letter? Every election they pull some crap to slander the dems and make themselves appear to be wronged to distract from the issues. I think this is a dirty trick they pulled on themselves to distract the public from the tsunami of bad economic news.

    Another "huge" "game changer"?
    Oh, pa-leez!
Financial crisis and increasing sovietization is wrecking the hide-a-Bush stratigery in the critical months prior ro the election.
Johnny's tried and once true scandal du jour method took way too much media rope these last few months to do anything but hang.
    Hang, baby, hang!

"Cillizza does what Drudge tells him to do" and "The Fix" regurgitates Drudge". This all sounds very Treasure Island Media! Did they meet on Manhunt? Politics and kink. I like both.

Certainly we have all been waiting for an "event" of this type. I'm just wondering how it might get steamrolled in a voluminous news cycle, how it can be drown out and how transparent it might be to people at this stage. All depends on what it is.

    Treasure Island Media

Howard "Chi-chi" Hawkes' all-male production of "His Trick Friday" starring Larry Pant and Jose Lind-Hussle as 'Hildy" Cillizza. Rated XXX but still fair and balanced.
  • martha · 1 year ago
OK What are they going to pull? Why are you being so coy? Get it out there - so we can fight it.
  • reelactor · 1 year ago
So if they really have Michelle on video saying "Whitey" we're likely to see it soon. I think they might have to wait for the Sunday talk shows, The economy will be pretty hard to move off center stage until then. Whatever they have, it better be good, I don't think the people are too interested in bs right now.

OT - Charlize Theron coming up on The Daily Show. Tell John A. He doesn't know too much about her. :o)

Obama just has to keep running his ads and it won't matter. He has new good ones on social security, equal pay, and the economy that I hope will all be running in the swing states non-stop until election day.
  • MnDem · 1 year ago
I'm glad to hear he has one coming out on Social Security. I think a lot of seniors in my area (pretty reliably Dem) are nervous about Obama. Hopefully he'll tie McCain to privatizing Social Security and what would have happened if all of their money was in Wall Street.

The e-mail hack has Rove’s fingerprints all over it. Remember the stolen debate video? Remember the Dan Rather - Bush National Guard Letter? Every election they pull some crap to slander the dems and make themselves appear to be wronged to distract from the issues. I think this is the dirty trick they pulled on themselves to distract the traditional media from the financial tsunami.

It all depends on how damaging the emails are. If the upside of rove letting them get out is not bad, then yes, its used as a distraction, if the down side is that they are damning and rove had nothing to do with it, then more shit is gonna hit the fan for pallllin.... i hoping for the latter.
  • jescot · 1 year ago
Joe -Operation Distraction is already on .....Hacking Palin's computer is classic Rove. Claim someone stole something from your office etc ...sound familiar?
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
Don't repeat that story you just posted.
    Nobody talk about "that" again.
Move on to the next story.
If you hear some funky story...DON'T repeat it or post it on here.
  • donotmakemecomedownthere · 1 year ago
Yep. "More secret e-mails to come in a few days!" is the dead give-away.

    Rove, Rove, Rove your vote,
    Ignorantly down the drain....
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
seems to be. its redlined on Drudge. yet a stupid ploy if correct. who would really believe a Governor would use Yahoo to send sensitive emails and then purport to be so "security knowledgable"???? Yahoo for sensitive mail = I can see Russia from my house.
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
    I agree. It's too fishy.

My God, when when WHEN is the Obama campaign going to put out an ad listing all the former major companies that have evaporated under the watch of Bush/McCain and their policies?? Off the top of my head, here's a start:
    ENRON
    ARTHUR ANDERSeN
    FANNIE MAE
    FREDDIE MAC
    BEAR STEARNS
    MERRILL LYNCH
    LEHMAN BROTHERS
...and we're still waiting to see about AIG, Morgan Stanley, WaMu, Wachovia, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, and who else? Will these names even survive to Election Day??

Obama has been very good at counter attacking and I think him and his team will handle it well.
  • Joneses · 1 year ago
    1. Obama was not born here in America.
    2. Michelle Obama is a re-creation of Angela Davis.
    3. McCain gives up and appoints Palin as the lead for President regarding the GOP.
    4. Cindy and John are really not legally married, but that's ok
    5. Troopergate has been dismissed because Rove, I mean the Dems hacked Palin's e-mail.
    6. Palin must step down for family reason.

OK, thats it. But I hope the Dems are ready, and I hope for America's sake, we the people are too.

You know what I'm talking about, you know that little event, The U.S.'s own "Reichstagg" fire.

Who could have predicated a conspiracy of men would create terror on US shores for a profit??

I would wager the Palin e-mail scandal is that diversion.

Obama or the DNC on should actually issue a Distraction ...like a tornado or hurrcane watch...that would pre-frame the ensuing scare in the voters minds.

Any sort of strawman argument, circular reasoning, or distraction by the McCain campaign will drowned out by the noise about Wall Street, and if the Dow will dip even more in the next couple days.

The shredded remains of classified govt documents from Area 51 are found in Obama's personal dumpster, along with pics of him shooting hoop with an ET at the Y.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
if it is email, the scam is gonna be real interesting. these days it is real easy to track a hacker, find an IP address and get info from ISP providers. so, they would have to strawman scapegoats - all very Watergate, but they would do it.

Don't worry. I have pics of Todd in drag as "Hot Chocolate" singing, "Oh Happy Day" at the Nome Nob.
  • percol8r · 1 year ago
If the email thing gains traction, great. It just conjures up the Bush administration's lust for wiretapping and spying on Americans. I'm not sure what McCain has said about it -- but I'm willing to bet he has defended the Republican administration. Again, he'll be on the wrong side of an issue about which most Americans feel strongly.

An effective Obama response: Why is the GOP suddenly big defenders of privacy? Why do they grasp the significance of a situation only when one of their own is violated? Where was the outrage when the current Republican adminstration reserved the right to violate the privacy of ordinary Americans? Why didn't John McCain act to secure citizens' privacy rights then?

The REPUKES have no clue how to spell HYPOCRISY, that's why....
  • percol8r · 1 year ago
I thought I was going to have to stand corrected. But, John McCain, the panderer doesn't disappoint.

    In 2006:

"WALLACE: But you do not believe that currently he has the legal authority to engage in these warrant-less wiretaps.

MCCAIN: You know, I don’t think so, but why not come to Congress? We can sort this all out. I don’t think — I know of no member of Congress, frankly, who, if the administration came and said here’s why we need this capability, that they wouldn’t get it. And so let’s have the hearings."

    This past June:

"Back in December, when Mr. McCain was asked by The Boston Globe whether he believed that the president had constitutional power to conduct surveillance on American soil for national security purposes without a warrant, regardless of federal statutes, he replied: “’There are some areas where the statutes don’t apply, such as in the surveillance of overseas communications. Where they do apply, however, I think that presidents have the obligation to obey and enforce laws that are passed by Congress and signed into law by the president, no matter what the situation is.”

But this week a senior adviser, Douglas Holtz-Eakin, wrote in a letter that was posted on the Web site of National Review that Mr. McCain believed that the Constitution gave Mr. Bush the power to authorize the National Security Agency to monitor Americans’ international phone calls and e-mail without warrants, despite a 1978 federal statute that required court oversight of surveillance."

If it is about those yahoo emails... using an email provider like Yahoo for government business shows a shocking lack of common sense. Please repeat along. Stupid to put the a Governor's business on Yahoo. Idiotic to use Yahoo Mail for her business as governor. A casual disregard for the business of the Alaskan people. Why would anyone use a commercial email provider to conduct state's business when the state has a SECURE system for just this reason. This would be like President Bush using Yahoo Mail to communicate with the National Security Advisers, reckless.
  • High Crimes & Misdemeanors · 1 year ago
NanoPlop, Are you being snarky, or are you not aware of the Rove email scandal using a private email account??
  • NanoPlop · 1 year ago
Snarky? Me? No no no, never ever ever. I figured plenty of people were already posting this entry from Wiki: In 1986, just before a crucial debate in a campaign, Rove claimed that his office had been bugged by Democrats. The police and FBI investigated and discovered that the bug's battery was so small that it needed to be changed every few hours, and the investigation was dropped.

Two prongs are better than one. Voila': A government official that thinks it's ok to rely on publicly available free email for Government business is an amateur. She's in over her head.

Of course it works better when two different people post. It just makes the one post appear cluttered.
  • MobtownShank · 1 year ago
My problem with posts like is that they read like this: "Being an insider, I have access to a lot more insider gossip than I ever share with my readers. And in this instance, I know something you don't. To prove it, I will hint that something's going to happen tomorrow. Wait and see. When it does, even though I know what it is and didn't tell you, remember that you heard it here first."

Look, we come here for info. Just tell us what's up instead of beating around the bush. We all know that you have access to more info and gossip than we have, than you share with us. But why create a post like this that's vague? What's the purpose other than for you to tell us nothing but then be able to say, after the fact, "See how right I was."

    Thanks for that.
  • EllaDisenchanted · 1 year ago
You've already seen the distraction Joe. It's the Palin Email Hacking! Who are they going to "Dan Rather" with this one?
  • ydthin · 1 year ago
I was just thinking the same thing... time will tell.

I'm thinking that the Palin nom means that dems once and for all have got to get some competency with the mindset of people that revere folks like her. When it comes to psychological processes of authoritarians, we are simpletons. It's all there in 1984, but we need strategy to deal with it. There has to be a way, but we can't find it unless we are looking. I know a free and fair press is part of it, a huge part, but there has got to be more that dems can do. I guess I'm distracted to. I guess the hue and cry tomorrow will be "poor Palin". Well, you know, AT&T is spying on us and the authoritarian answer to that is that "that's okay, I have nothing to hide, and people who have something to hide deserve to be caught". Yahoo is reading Palin's e-mails to make a buck , gov't-paid agencies are reading them too...it will just kill me if all these people who had no objections to the gov't tapping convo's on phones and parsing e-mails get all worked up about this. If you don't care if uncle Sam is spying on you, why care if your neighbor is....

My take? The conventional media is only too happy to play the McCain game if their ox isn't being gored. But with the Wall Street meltdown, THEY are affected. Yes, even their bosses. (The stock market is horrible the world over, not just the U.S., so there is nowhere they can run.)

Hey! How does it feel, MSM? Not too comfortable, is it? Oh, it was SO funny to help McCain when it didn't rain on your parade. But now? Sorry, but LOL. And no, I don't think it is funny that the stock market is tanking -- I just think equal is equal. Now they can see (in a much smaller way) how the rest of us have been tortured the past few years.
  • Fireblazes(CheetohsandCatfood) · 1 year ago
It is going to be hard to overcome a crashing world financial market with emails or anything mundane. Unless Biden physically attacks palin I just do not see it working. Beside you just know she was using her birthdate or the word twig as her password.
