Typical Republican behavior: mean and stupid.
  • Griffon · 1 year ago
Speaking of mean and stupid, here's that story about the idiot republican McCain voter who denied candy to the children of Obama supporters:

    http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/magazine/miss...

There's even a video of her idiocy...the very flower of the conservative movement.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
As vile as their actions are, I am glad they did it. It shows just how empathetic and family values oriented the entire Republican party has become. This is a party of whiners and unethical behavior. The only time ANYTHING matters to them IF it is about them.

So today they finally showed their true colors. A man's grandmother dies and they file a FEC complaint because he visited her in a campaign plane, one that is entitled to fly to every state in this nation.
  • TheOriginalLiz · 1 year ago
Remember, these are the types of people who don't know what love and respect is. They know perversion, greed, lust ... all the base emotions, none of the higher ones.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Exhibit A: Brad Blakeman. Obama just left the campaign to "go visit grandma." Dick.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
And I also ask, has McCain reimbursed the cost of those cell towers to his ranch? Has Palin listed all items to be returned after the campaign?

Honorable John McCain, I don't think so.
  • AnitaCocktail · 1 year ago
Well, since these people clearly don't understand what the term "family values" means and are governed by politics alone, the solution seems pretty simple:

Senator Obama went to Hawaii to attend a campaign event with a voter who knew him all his life. Using the plane to fly to a campaign event in any state is permissible, so what's the big deal?
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
I sometimes wondered how certain EVIL people like the current GOP clowns come to fruition.

I have come to the conclusion that no matter how they were 'created', they are simply psychologically sick.

And this is not a joke. What else can explain such uncivilized behavior?
  • Patrick_Bateman · 1 year ago
Hear Hear! I have thought for some time that todays conservatism is a psychosis.

They really are the most disgusting people on the planet.. We have to annihilate the conservative movement.
  • Patrick_Bateman · 1 year ago
    Doesn't surprise me.
  • lucky hussein · 1 year ago
The 100K to fly a plane to hawaii? I'm not sure about that. A while back I looked at wikipedia for the type of jet he is flying and based on jet fuel costs months ago (when it was at it's peak) - it was 20K coast to coast, so east coast to hawaii would be 40K worse case.

There is a long list of reich-wing fables going back to forever. For example: WWII ended the depression. No, FDR's programs building the middle class ended the depression. WWII set us back.
  • RitornaVincitor · 1 year ago
"Any political attack is acceptable." Sure is! And we've certainly seen a lot of despicable attacks. Some of them against Hillary Clinton.... right here on this very blog, if I remember correctly. And I do remember correctly. But hey, we're past all that now, I guess. Onward and upward!
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
Soon enough, Obama will be flying on Air Force One. That's pretty sweet revenge, too.

Gods! How can you be such a total fool as to count your chickens before they hatch. If the Republicans have no shame about attacking Obama so heartlessly, they also would not stop at anything to prevent Obama's winning, assassination, massive, massive voting fraud, even coup d'etat, etc. I won't feel Obama is safe until January 20, 2016, when the next Democratic president is inaugurated succeeding a still living Obama.

I also want to say something else. We keep celebrating how great an Obama victory would reflect on our nation. But, what about an Obama defeat. That would be a disgrace that would shame even Bush's stealing the Oval Office in 2000. Obama is ahead by 8% points in most polls. If the Republicans pull it off and I have no doubts the cowardly Damnocrats in Congress, led by Pelosi and Reid would do nothing other than cluck loudly about how beautiful the eggs they've laid are, this nation would be a disgrace to make Apartheid South Africa or Mugabe’s Zimbabwe look noble, honorable and proud.
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
Well spoken! The thought has occurred to me what tomorrow would look like if Obama lost when victory was so imminent.
  • KerrynowCampau · 1 year ago
You are bringing me down, man ;-)
  • Fireblazes(cheetohsandcatfood) · 1 year ago
If you are so concerned then get your butt down to the nearest Obama, Campaign for Change office and volunteer to make calls, knock on doors or bring food to people waiting in line to vote. Wednesday we will worry or not about the shit you raised. But today and tomorrow we GOTV!
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
Obama's grandmother's death is a time of very deep sorrow, not only for Obama, but for those of us who support him. Tomorrow, if he wins, it will be a bittersweet victory. The viciousness of these neocons to attack Obama at this time over this issue is unspeakable and my bitterness knows no bounds. They deserve not only to lose but to be exterminated like the vermin they are. We need an opposition party, but at this point they aren't opposition, they are the enemy of the nation, world and human race, beneath all human standards of decency, civility, honor or integrity. I wish Obama could win by 70% to 30%, completely bury these subhuman monsters.
  • lucky hussein · 1 year ago
no doubt. even if Obama does win, we can't forget our nation came extremely close to slipping into a pseudo-theocratic/facist, 1 party rule. Only 2 things are saving us: 1. the internet and 2. the recent downturn and scandal of the economy. that's it. mainly the second one, imo.
  • skeptic · 1 year ago
One can only hope that they will take it up the kazooo without lube!
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
I need to be talked down!

I was feeling pretty comfie for the last couple of weeks, but as of today with all of the massive media McCain indulgence, I'm feeling a bit shaky on wining this thing.

Pretty please, someone, tell me again that we WILL win this Presidential election?
  • Fireblazes(cheetohsandcatfood) · 1 year ago
Once again, McCain has to win ALL of the tossup-p states to win, Obama doesn't. Obama is above 50% in all of the polls. The trendlines keep Obama steady, with McC flat and he will not make that ground up. Have a drink, turn off the news, quit looking and listen to some fine music. As my final piece of advice Watch "Office Space".
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
Obama is above 50% in all of the polls.

Again, it is a mistake to expect free and fair election results. The Republicans will cheat, steal, lie and perpetrate every sort of election and voting fraud in the books. I live in California where Obama is up by 20%. I thought I would vote for Nader or McKinney if Obama had a safe margin. I voted for Obama, because no margin is safe given the corrupt, criminal, evil opposition. And I wouldn't be surprised if Bush or the scum in the Supreme Court to declare that Obama got the most votes therefore McCain is the next president as they did in 2000.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
Shheeeesh vkobaya, you are not helping to "talk me down" right about now, instead you are voicing all of my worst case fears...
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
Sigh! They are also my worst case fears. I don't put anything past these corrupt vile Republicans. This criminal complaint against Obama is another fake issue, just a very dirty smear to make Obama look bad to the morons who believe this sort of garbage. But what it also does is justify a McCain victory when they steal the elections.

Obama's only chance is to win by such a lopsided margin that they can't overwhelm his victory in those states/locations where they have honest locations, if they exist, where paper ballots are used and there are honest election officials. Even then, I can see the Supreme court declaring McCain the winner or Bush declaring martial law saying the ACCORN fraud invalidated the election.
  • smithdaleus · 1 year ago
    Vkobaya,

I am so with you. Go to truthout.org and read about the plan. Remember Kerry lost OH in 2004 by only 7 votes/precinct.
    http://www.truthout.org/110308A
I will not believe this until Barack is inaugurated.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago

I don't think anyone should be depressed now of all times, BUT fight to the end because the Bushies do CHEAT like crazy. That's just fact.

I still think that Bush has done enough damage to millions of peoples' employment, 401ks, and bank accounts, that even the clueless are taking note.

These days McCain/Bush can no longer cheat their way to victory so easily.

    wrongwrongwrongwrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HEHHH Vicki
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
Sorry, Polly! Chances are Obama will win as he has an 8% lead in the nation which is a "massive" lead. Last few elections were determined by fractions of percentage point. It's just that there is no limit to how far the extreme right Republicans will go and even assassination is a tool that they won't hesitate to use. Obama really won't be safe until he has served his full two terms and is alive to see his successor inaugurated. I am hopeful but nothing will surprise me.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
But, have to get back to the main thread and very deep sorrow I feel for Obama's loss of his grandmother. If I said it before, it is worth repeating, "God Bless Madelyn Dunham."
  • Fireblazes(cheetohsandcatfood) · 1 year ago
Whatever, you are just over the top. Fair or not here we are, at the cusp
of history. I prefer to set aside my despair and cynicism and run for the
finish line! What the hell do you want us to say to you? All you are doing
is being OCD about the future. If wishes were horses all beggars would
ride! Coulda, shoulda, woulda! Break out the tin foil hat, take a zoloft
and get a nap in. Conspiracy nuts just fucking piss me off. Your opinions
    are inflamatory and worthless!
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
Fireblazes, you are a wise and patient man...thank you. I think your advise is solid and after careful consideration, I have decided to take it (especially the drinking part).

I deeply thank you for the strong shoulder, it is a kindness I will remember.

But my last question is "what is Office Space? A movie, documentary or an internet film?
  • dudervision · 1 year ago
It is one of the funniest movies in years. Mike Judge (yes, the one who created Beavis and Butthead) created it about "cubical" dwellers in a high tech firm. It's fantastic!!!

It is really incredible the lengths they will go. I was reading an article about the dirty tricks expected on election day. ALL were republican! WTF! Of course the article made no mention of the fact that all efforts were voter suppression and Republican efforts. Total scumbags.
  • Rab · 1 year ago
The people win this election tomorrow: How many countless repugs have switched and said they will vote for Obama? Obama will win tomorrow and so will other dem candidates because enough of the sheep in this country are worried about the most important thing in their life....their jobs. Its the economy stupid.....that trumps everything and anything.

the man truly shows neoconservatism is a sickness.
  • Older_Wiser · 1 year ago
Well, I just watched Obama at UNC-C. He looked very tired, close to tears when he mentioned his grandmother at first. It took a lot out of him. I felt like telling him to get some rest...but he'll plow on through tomorrow, of course.

If you haven't voted yet...get out tomorrow. In 24 hours or so, we'll know what the score is. We can't let the the bastards corrupt the country any longer.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
Older, Obama wasn't merely "close" to tears, he was wiping away some tears near the end of his speech. It was heartbreaking.
  • Older_Wiser · 1 year ago
Yes, I know...and he seemed very alone, in spite of the crowd. He probably needed the comfort of his family...so sad, so sad. I felt like hugging the computer screen. ; (

Aside from its almost unprecedented mean-spiritedness, paralleled only by the right-wing chatter at the time that Obama was only going to Hawaii not to see Tutu, but because someone was about to subpoena his birth certificate (why he couldn't have afforded to send a phalanx of lawyers there instead if that were the issue is beyond me), this is all just so stupid. At that point in a campaign, the secret service must travel in numbers with the candidate. The traveling press, or at least some of it, wants to be along. How is he supposed to get there? And, given the size of the entourage to be transported, what's the safest, most economical and efficient way to move it? Has Palin not been back to Alaska to visit her family since the campaign began? How did she travel there? Or is the whole Jukes and Kalikaks family of hers traveling with her all the time? At whose expense? And what about McCain? Hasn't he been back to Sedona repeatedly during the campaign? How did he get there? This is an utterly stupid claim, and the people fomenting it ought to be forced to reimburse the taxpayers for tying up an administrative agency with this crap.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
Don't forget $150,000 and then $15,000 for shoes, to say nothing of $25,000 for makeup. Oh yeah and charging the State of Alaska for sleeping at home in her own bed, and for travel expenses for her children when they visited her in the state capital or on her visits to other parts of Alaska.
  • MNUSA · 1 year ago
Palin also never released her medical records.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
Palin has six rallies in five states planned for the final day of campaigning. After midnight on the West Coast, she will begin an overnight flight to Alaska. She is expected to touch down before sunrise in Anchorage and travel the hour to her hometown of Wasilla, with just enough time to vote before traveling back to join McCain in Phoenix Tuesday night.
    ---

so... who's paying for palin to head home to Wasilla?

If individuals gave to his campaign to spend it the way he needs to than I say that was a legal trip. If moose momma can fly her brude around on the taxpaper than so can Obama who's supporters paid for his campaign. Shame on them. They look so shamefull.

I live in NC and the Rev. Wright attack ad has been running amok since yesterday.........Just a day or two ago, I was hearing how McCain wasn't going to use the Rev. Wright issue but I guess desperation is setting in....... I will NEVER, EVER vote for ANY Republican again.....and Eliz. Dole was still running her "godless" ad against Kay Hagan as of today.... SCUM Republicans.
  • martha · 1 year ago
I'm in St Louis, Mo and I've been watching MSNBC for 2 hours and I've seen that stupid Wright ad at least 8 times. That is why Obama was right in NOT taking public financing. McCain agreed to spend 80 million from public financing BUT he has people that will spend zillions to spread lies about Obama.

    They should be ashamed.
  • eclecticbrotha · 1 year ago
Joe, it goes even further than that. I live in the Chicago market. I'm watching Keith Olbermann on Countdown - you know, that flaming liberal media hack that Republicans love to hate? And guess what shows up during the commercials? The Jeremiah Wright ad. I almost burst out laughing at the absurdity of their tactics. A Jeremiah Wright ad? In Chicago? Hours after Obama loses his grandmother? During a show that only us flaming liberal commies are watching? Really?

John McCain and the GOP have no plan for America, no ideas to set this country back on track and no intention of accepting blame for how it is right now. So, all they have been doing from the day Obama clinched the nomination is mocking, nitpicking, smearing and openly taunting him like schoolyard bullies that can't stand the smartest guy in the class.

Barack is more intelligent, a much better politician, a shrewder strategist and has more people skills in his pinkie finger than the entire Republican Party. So, let those fuckers taunt. The sun sets on their bullshit starting tomorrow.
  • MNUSA · 1 year ago
This came up before. Can Obama even fly on a commercial flight considering the need to protect him? I could see their complaint if he had accepted a ride on a corporate jet. That said, all candidates should be careful not to do things that seem suspect or are illegal. Sure, he had a noble reason to go to Hawaii, but laws are still laws. But how else would he have flown there?
  • Haze · 1 year ago
All I can say to the California Republican Party is. Unless you donated to the Obama campaign STFU !!
  • judybrowni · 1 year ago
    I gasped, aloud.

Whenever I think Republicans can stoop no lower...alas, I've used that expression too many to count in this election season alone.

Thank the god lord (or the spaghetti monster, or whichever deity you worship) the grownups will be elected tomorrow, and the petulant, spoiled and destructive children will be sent to their room.

Or wherever, just so long as many of them are thrown out of office as possible.

I've had to suffer through dozens of versions of a Jeremiah Wright commercial on MSNBC and HN today in freaking LOS ANGELES (even during the freaking RACHEL MADDOW SHOW) -- my guess? They're being aired to get the otherwise deflated godbag, gasbag locals out to vote for the noxious Props 8 and 4.
