AMERICAblog: Do the Republicans want to leave Iraq ever?

Did you catch Bush in his press conference this week, responding to questions about the "negotiations", saying "Uh you have two sovereign nations....we are a sovereign nation....they are a sovereign nation [trying to work it out]". Clearly, he doesn't want to be told to get out of Dodge and finds it incomprehensible still that he isn't greeted with flowers and candy. And of course, their purpose all along was (1) to get permanent airbases and (2) to make the oil fields safe for American companies. They have always viewed Iraq as a colony. Colonialism is in Bush's blood.

As long as there is a buck to made on war and misery, you'll always find a neocon there to give a helping hand. After all, why shouldn't good hearted capitalists be allowed to make a dollar on death? Funeral homes do.....:)

The GOP will only leave when all the oil is pumped out of the ground.
The republicans think the US is the land of the 'chosen people' when in reality we are just run by a bunch of nut cases. gw bush is the great and powerful OZ.....without any of the good qualities.

I don't know what the "rank and file" Repubs think. But? I think by almost any 'standard', they are the "chosen People" Maybe there will be negotiation.-in the future...

As I have said before, we seem to have no shame. Where is that American pride, that was displayed before the war? We have been told to leave in no uncertain terms, we have been asked to give a timetable, we have overstayed our welcome, and yet the rethuglicans are embarrassing the American people, by stubbornly refusing to leave. What Bush, Cheney, and their buddies won't do for oil? All that arrogance amounts to nothing, when they keep insisting that we keep staying in a country, that we had the audacity to attack and bomb into smithereens. The Bush administration thumbed their noses at the American people and took them into war, and now they thumb their noses at the Iraqi's, and don't seem eager to leave.
It's a good thing you put the NOT there. I don't feel sorry for any repug anywhere. I don't see how people can be voting for them. All they do is lie lie lie.

The real reason why McCain canceled his Oil Platform Photo Op tomorrow:
After 300 years in India, it took less time for Clement Attlee to get Britain out India, despite partitioning of the sub continent where over 300 million people lived.

they want to stay in Iraq forever to get the white trash feel "patriotic" as their standard of living goes down and their kids can't go to college or afford to go to the doctor

Just my opinion: I think they went into Iraq to begin with to make a situation that would send the price of oil up, and they thought they then would be in a postion to keep it up. Trouble is they didn't have a plan A or B or C.

After 8 Bush/Cheney/McCain years, we are all so weary! Don't you all have the fantasy that we end up with a President Obama and 75 Democratic Senators and 325 Congressmen? Alll of the rethugs in Washington will spend the next 4 years in a fetal position!

I want them in a fetal position in prison.

Republicans are simply doing what they've accused Obama and Democrats of doing. The Iraq government's position backfired in their face politically, and Republicans are desperately PLAYING POLITICS with the withdrawal controversy. They know they are on the losing end and are FURIOUS with al Maliki and Iraq's position dovetailing with Obama's. Its all about the U.S. Presidential election with them... They would LOSE THE WITHDRAWAL AND REFOCUSING OPPORTUNITY IN AFGHANISTAN in order to win the Presidency again.

It appears this will not get you out of Iraq. Israel has not given you permission to leave Iraq as you should have seen from the visits by Obama and the British PM recently. America doesn't even scratch itself without permission from Israel and you all know it.

Years ago, Bush said, we'd leave when we are asked to go by the Iraqi government.
Well??? What lie are the Republicans making up now to continue the massive human misery they gleefully caused?
Those bastards call us the Party of Death, when they are the ones that send out troops overseas to murder women and children and force millions of people out of their homes as refugees? Pelosi has no shame as she protects these mass murderers in the White House from their deserved punishment.
Just like his daddy, Bush will pardon every one that has ever worked in the White House and the Right-wing media (TV News and bloggers alike) will issue death threats to any Democrat that dares to stand up for the Rule of Law. These mass murderers in the White House need to be brought to trial, and when found guilty, they need to be imprisoned with the general population as the worst Super-Max they had built.
"Hanging's too good for 'em! Burning's too good for 'em! They should be torn into little bitsy pieces and buried alive!!!"
Before the Republican Party even started this illegal war of naked aggression on the people of Iraq, my wife and I were talking to a hard-core Republican who was slathering with anticipation over the imminent invasion. While he was for the invasion, he said that our troops shouldn't be there *six months* after they arrived! We always wish we could find that guy and ask him how he feels now...

they can't leave until they get what they went there for, a sweet oil deal for their friends and donors

If McCain doesn't want to leave, then the US should bury him there.....
