AMERICAblog: Donuts anyone? McCain's whining about Obama's press coverage rings very hollow

  • scooter in brooklyn · 1 year ago
mcsame is looking more desperate by the day.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Why that perfectly trite voice of mind-numbingly boring conventional wisdom, Mark Halperin, himself said on Morning Joe that Obama was getting all the favorable press. Does he deserve it? Is it just because he's "new"? Can McCain get any traction this week? Yes, but only if he announces his Veep pick and then no one will care about Obama!
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
More: isn't he just a flash in the pan? Can everybody get beyond thinking of him as a "rock star"? Isn't the media just making him a "rock star" when everybody knows that the war hee-ro really deserves the acclaim for the success of the Surge?!
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
no, the media isn't "in love" with obama, WE are. those of us who've been hanging on to our sanity by a thread these last horrible seven or so years.

he's getting media coverage, McWhiney, because he's running for frickin' president and he's doing a kick-ass job of it so far. gawd.
  • bejammin075 · 1 year ago
Sounds like McCain has sort of become a, uh, whiner? Paging Senator Gramm!
  • CDS2 · 1 year ago
I just heard Obama say he is going to 'draw down' the troops over the 16 month period. How does 'draw down' relate to 'withdraw'? Are they the same, or is this more double speak?
  • mirth · 1 year ago
CDS2, this is soooo lame. Even for you.

    Draw down, withdraw. Tomatos, tahmahtos.

    Geez
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
ha! it's all they've got, mirth. ridiculosity.
  • Nigel Elliott · 1 year ago
    Hey Mirth,

The wingnuts are having a bad week...and it's only going to get worse. I'm getting emails from friends and family who are excited to see America's next president up close. My friends in Berlin are calling his Germany trip, Berlin's Other Love Parade, because they expect massive crowds lining the streets to get a peak of the "black" JFK!
  • unrepentant_expat · 1 year ago
'Draw down' means reduce, 'withdraw' means remove. Now do the world a favour and define newspeak's newest idiom 'time horizon'.
  • CDS2 · 1 year ago
OK, so now it's a reduction rather than complete withdraw. OK, I understand, and frankly I agree with a draw down. I'm not so sure about the rest of the folks that post here? I have no idea what a time horizon is...sounds
    something that happens every day.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
'time horizon' is a cya bush white house fantasy phrase...
no one else has any idea what it means either.
  • cybergal619 · 1 year ago
It does sounds kinda romantic, though.
  • gumdrops · 1 year ago
Yeah, I love how he 'jokes' about donuts being 'our latest health program' ....
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
Well the MSM may now be actually giving in to the momentum. It's fairly clear now that McSame, Rodeo Queen's Daddy-Pants, is so weak a candidate that the right are throwing in the towel. I am feeling good today watching all this head spinning going on over Barry! Everyone loves a winner and I think the SS McGrandpa is sinking fast. Karl Rove's shit don't work no mo. And it looks like the rest of the GOP brains are either tired and wanna get out this round or he's got idiots running his show. Or both. McWhiney-Whitey is going down fast. Quelle Domage.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
Obama is getting more coverage?... yeah right.

try this... we've seen Chris Matthews telling people to vote for Obama. we've seen 3,000 soldiers flocking to hear him speak in Iraq (both in the thread below).

now, go to cnn.com and try to find anything about the soldiers swarming to meet Obama... or Chris Matthews' comments.

    funny huh?

they DO have the story that the NY Times rejected mccain's op-ed... although they don't mention why... they DO publish his op-ed though, and have a link to the NY Times to read Obama's.

Oh, and they have an article on how Obama's presidency might hurt race relations.

yeah, Obama is getting MUCH more coverage than mccain.

    /snark

this is the damn truth, soundboy.
the old media will try to squelch what's happening, but it ain't gonna work this time.
  • unrepentant_expat · 1 year ago
It was extremely unfair of the MSM to show Obama making that three-point basketball shot. hey could try to make it up by showing 'Remember the Maine' McCain playing golf, but alas, he doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.
  • Nigel Elliott · 1 year ago
Now Gramps McCain is acting Hillary Clinton. McCain thinks he is owed the presidency because he crashed jets and got captured decades ago. His "hero" story is the only reason he's in Congress today, but he doesn't have the mental faculty to be president.

    But Obama does.....

Nigel, such a wonderful and uplifting story you link to - and from ABC, no less.
That the King stressed the rights of the Palestinians to their homeland is very important and it makes me even more hopeful that Obama, with the relationships he is building with ME leaders, will fulfill our trusts in his presidency.
    Thank for that link.
    It's a great day!

There's nothing worse than an old man's whining. I guess if I were Cindy, I'd be on pills, too. Give me the studly, intelligent, compassionate, younger guy any day.

(From an old lady who can still dream.)

i was spellbound watching obama's press conference earlier today. he'll never be liberal enough for me, but i would be proud of a country that saw his value and elected him.

Mrs. Greenspan, who is THE fabulously-respected doyenne of Washington political journalists, just said to Tweety that all this footage is "fake" and all made up by the military since REAL journalists, like her, didn't get access directly to shoot all that pro-Obama "reporting" by the military. Therefore, Obama, according to Mrs. Greenspan, isn't really "tested" on the world stage. It's all just a big show, she says (In response, Tweety doesn't know what the fuck to say that shit...)
  • Nigel Elliott · 1 year ago
Poor thing, weighed down from all that spachtling. Try wearing layers of makeup in the Middle East during the hot summer. Madame Greenspan is just miserable and cranky. ;-)
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
It is apparent that she's bitching about being shut out from directly covering the Obama "rallies" by Army Public Affairs folks. Hence, in her mind, it's not "real."
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
The Mrs isn't merely "cranky" but absolutely and totally "furious" at being out of the loop on this one. It's been kinda funny to watch her gradual eruption.

Yesterday on Morning Joe she was vague, distracted and obtuse when it came to explaining the coverage of Obama in Iraq. Joe had to ask her a few times to get clarification as to what she was referring to. Then later in the day, she was getting more verbose and more angry and today she has simply erupted.

LOL, she is so damn transparent and if more new outlets don't "get it" about Andrea, then they all deserve our scorn.

Yes, I love Linkins too and have an addiction to his Sunday morning tirades on the morning shows.

The funniest part of the concept that the media is in love with Obama, is the absurdity as to how they (the press) refuse to publish or even discuss ANY of McCain's mistakes, gaffes, flubs, mistakes or whatever you want to call his idiocies!

OT, but reflective of the lack of concern on USA infrastructure--areas in South Texas are being evacuated prior to the (minimal) hurricane Dolly. BECAUSE of fears of levees collapsing. Have we not heard this before? When was Katrina? And the flooding in the midwest? Gee, what a surprise MORE levees are suspect?

Donuts are the GOP's new Weapons of Mass Distraction.
And the purple goo inside is the new kool-aid.
    Mmmmm...purple.
