AMERICAblog: Dorgan: Lieberman's actions are unacceptable

  • RevDrBillyBob · 1 year ago
" ... will the Democrats do anything about it ?" .... Well, the ones who have "no problem with Hilary Clinton [who had NO problem with the invasion, trashing, and occupation of Iraq] becoming Secretary of State" will have NO problem having Lieberman (one of Clinton's best buddies in the Senate) continuing to be a part of the Democratic Caucus.
  • eagleye · 1 year ago
Prediction: Democrats wimp out, allow Lieberman to keep his Chairmanship of Homeland Security, he screws them anyway by voting against Obama at every opportunity, Democrats get all huffy and indignant and declare that they won't be fooled again until next time.
  • EdNSted · 1 year ago
Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner. Yes indeed, I think you've called it spot on.
  • dad · 1 year ago
    strip lieberman.

if he wants to be a Democrat, if he wants to contribute to moving the Obama agenda forward, he will stay.

if not he never was and never would have.
  • martha · 1 year ago
60 Minutes is unbelieveble. Barack and his wife are SO smart and SO genuine and they really, really care about moving this country forward. This is really amazing considering the Bush-Cheney years ( how can we steal from the American people to enrich our friends years).
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
You are really missing the boat giving Bush credit for putting his fat cat friends first. Don't kid yourself. First and foremost, Bush made sure he enriched himself. My guess is it was more of a 2 for 1 split with Bush taking the largest share. Trillions of dollars missing. Take a look in some of those overseas accounts. The money is untraceable, but belongs to Bush.

For many years lieberman has believed he is better than Democrats. Better than Democratic leaders and better than Democratic supporters.
  • dad · 1 year ago
this very discussion. this vote on tuesday is exactly the problem that is lieberman. it is all about him. it is not about Democrats. It is not about the President-elect. It is not about moving Our Great Nation forward. It is about joe.

that's all its ever been about.
  • Sand · 1 year ago
Yep! This is why Tuesday is 'Lieberman Review Day' to definitely help move the Nation forward.

Whereas Byrd quietly stepped aside -- Lieberman just couldn't let go and decided to yet again scream, dig his heels in, and demand that the Senate caves to his god given right -- Because he's an arrogant sh*t and doesn't think he has done anything wrong, it's obvious he needs some much needed feedback and disclipline, so we don't have to continually deal with his insufferable tantrums. Reid hasn't the balls to knock him off his perch alone, so Lieberman tries his old trick of screaming to the whole Dem caucus [esp. twisting the arms of some of his old pro-Israel friends] to save his butt -- or else!

The line in the sand has been drawn -- if the caucus let's this weasel keep his position -- then this act of betrayal by the Dem Senate will NOT be forgotten nor in my case forgiven.

To remind you what's at stake --- i.e. a guaranteed continuance of this crap [with the help of Fox News of course] :

Joe Lieberman: The Progressive Who Lost His Way

Only a fool would trust Lieberman.

    good link. thank You.

What this vote, this secret vote on Tuesday is really about is whether or not Senate Democrats believe in the Change that we believe in.
  • Rev_Sacrilege · 1 year ago
    Get rid of him.
  • martha · 1 year ago
I'd never heard that much about LIEberman until he was picked as Gore's VP. It became very clear in the 2000 election that he was not a dem. Cut him loose. This is not rocket science.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
Lieberman must go! Imagine what Cokie Roberts would have to say about "Netroots" if she knew about Lieberman's standing amongst us.
  • CPL · 1 year ago
Well, I guess we know how Dorgan's going to vote on Tuesday. <<snark>>

Secret Ballots I don't like cause we won't know who to harass if Lieberman gets to keep his committee chairs - except to call for Harry Reid's resignation as Majority Leader if that happens.

    .
WOW! Do you have any idea what it takes to piss off a NoDak???!!! And to get him to open his mouth and let WORDS come out? By golly, I'm t'inkin' der Lieberhund is goin' in the chipper, eh? You betchya!

If not, he'll still be Speaker of the Knesset, though, right? He just needs his Senate seat so he can make speeches on Koch's behalf. Doesn't matter if he chairs any committees. The 9/11 Commission finished it's "work" years ago, and Mossad has Rahm right inside the White House now, so it's covered. No worries, mate!

One day, when we are all dead and gone, we will come to find out that in the past 150 years of US history that we have had the most traitorous bunch of politicians the world has ever know. These Tory punks who walk the halls of the Senate, following LIEberman like patsies and sycophants continue to hide under the cloak, which we give them. It is unconscionable how these punks operate. A vote in secrecy is a vote against you.
  • cosanostradamus · 1 year ago
    .
    Yeah.

I half expect to see a pro-Lieberhund squeaker, with EVERYONE then claiming they voted against him. All it'll take is a few calls from AIPAC.

Can you imagine Senators, Congressmen, Presidents & candidates being forced to make ritual kow-tows before any other foreign nationalist organization's lobbyists? And our corporate media approving?

The Bush Administration is riddled with Israeli agents. They specialize in "security," so they're in some very sensitive jobs. Not to mention the neocon nutjobs in the White House basement who seem to be coordinating policy with the Armageddon branch of the Israeli government.

Whatever happened to OUR national interests?

but also criticizing the candidate on our side

Well, it would be one thing if he had given clean, honorable support to the candidate in the other party. Lieberman indulged in smears, lies and truly vile race baiting that had nothing to do with Obama's qualifications except in the minds of low life on the other side. Even McCain refrained from the worst of the smears which Lieberman indulged in though Palin also indulged in rolling in the cesspool.

By the way, my objection to Hillary is that she fed them the ammunition, wrote the playbook and McCain, Palin, Lieberman and the rest lacked the creativity, imagination and initiative to even create anything better or worse than the ammuntion that Hillary gave them. Which side is Hillary really on? She seems to be the real leader of the Republican party so I think it is quite dangerous to give her a position as important as Secretary of State ... especially when she indulged in one attack that even Palin refrained from, threatened to assassinate Obama.

Somehow, that there is even the possibility that Lieberman not be punished seems like more of 'impeachment is off the table' speak. As with Bush, one wonders just what Lieberman would have had to do to really push the Democrats to action. I wish the Democrats had been my parents when I was young. I never would have gotten in trouble because they are professional 'look the other way' types who are afraid of confrontation.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
Gary, I got an email from our fine Senator Feinstein, and from the tone, it appears she will not vote to relieve Lieberman of his chairmanship.
  • Gary SF · 1 year ago
    What a shock! LOL...
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
I haven't heard back from Boxer.
  • zavlin · 1 year ago
Yeah seriously. They want to keep lieberman to try and stop fillibusters, but lieberman's shown he wont think twice to go to the other side and will probably support fillibusters anyway. So why let him keep his chairmanship? They need to stop thinking in terms of "but we dont want to make him our enemy..." He allready is.

Take a long walk on a short plank, Joe.
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
In the true spirit of democratic solidarity, they will make a lot of noise complaining how "unacceptable" Traitor Joe is, then they will get back in line, kow-tow, wring their hands and vote the wussie vote that comes natural to them. I predict that after being shat upon by Traitor Joe, they will smile and welcome him back with open arms regardless what their constituents want, and how badly they smell. "It's the democratic way."

"Will the Dems do anything about it, or show their usual lack of spine?"

I'll take "lack of spine" for $500, Alex.

    Hello, Chairman Lieberman.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
Lieberman is such a cockroach. These despicable creatures know how to survive.
  • 1billinnj2 · 1 year ago
throw the bum traitor out now. what a disgrace to the party.
  • jsdc007 · 1 year ago
Who cares what Lieberman said or did during the campaign?

If having him caucus with the Dems will help their agenda, keep the little creepy goblin around, but make sure he knows who's in control.

Besides, 2010 is around the corner and who knows what the elections for the Senate will bring? Barbara Boxer is up for a tough re-election battle, and if she loses her seat, Joe's creepy goblin butt will be all the more necessary.
