I wouldn't count on the Stock Market to be a gauge for anything outside of the pyschoses that animate the market itself. Now if Bush and Cheney start a war with Iran or with Russia over Georgia, then I'd watch the market as it tanks over concerns over $200 and up barrels of petrol.

But the dollar has been consistently climbing against the euro, for more than a month. What does it all mean?

Elections, well until it ends. Hopefully in our favor.

It means the sub prime meltdown has met the credit crunch world wide and the contraction of the worlds economies are starting to feed on each other.

I don't really think it will sink the Republicans. Yes, it's their fault (and particularly that of Phil Gramm), but explaining why is just too technical for most voters. Voters are certainly feeling hard times, but they don't really know why. In 1992, Bill Clinton could explain why, but he's a pretty unusual politician. He really has a knack for explaining complex issues in a manner that regular people can understand. Obama's a great speaker, but he really doesn't have Bill's talent for empathy. And I don't think Bill is really going to help us out. Nor do I think Obama wants him to. The economy issue won't work for us like it did in 1992.

Why does Wall Street HATE moose-huntin' hockey moms? Palin IS ready from Day One to preside over the American economy! Why won't Wall Street accept that?

No, it just hurts people like me.

Don't use Fed as a 'magical piggy bank'. That's what Alan Greenspan (AKA Mr. Andrea Mitchell) said. That's odd, because I thought he invented the concept (along with serial bubble blowing). Now he tells us!
