Wait! Wait! Wait! A conservative newspaper can't raise money? I don't know whether to laugh or laugh loud. Take that, Ayn Rand!
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    Ha!

    Ayn Rand!

    Greenspan's skank.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
You knew!  Far too few folks are following that social thread.  That's how they get away with their little Czarist Masquerade.
  • Ginger_FL · 1 year ago
I was thinking the same thing!!
I think the story is HYSTERICAL !!!
RW rag can't raise money from RWer's LOL
    That's GREAT NEWS!!
  • Ginger_FL · 1 year ago
    I wonder......
Will Faux Noise find themselves in a similar state now that their buddies are not able to get all that free money from the taxpayers?????
  • brendancalling · 1 year ago
Oh noes! A right-wing rag bites the dust?

See, what the Sun should have done was hire Jonah Goldberg as editor. Then his mommy Luciane would have funded the paper.
  • Wisterley · 1 year ago
The paper was garbage, staffed by third-rate writers. We should be sorry because...? Isn't this the free-market in action?
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
I'm not going to worry about a Conservative Rag closing.

    I wish they all would.

And I hope everybody who worked there ends up on the street, since that's the laissez fair policies they endorsed.

Hey Sun thank Newt who work to kill the bill to start his presidential run in '12 and McCain's Grandstanding trying to win in '08.
  • TXfemmom · 1 year ago
Well, at least the far right and their policies are eating their own spawn.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    Back to "Morning Ho."

And they're all still shocked that the idiot they put in the White House doesn't know what the fuck he's doing.

You can't make this stuff up.

Lenin said something about a capitalist would sell the rope to his hangman.

    Actually, it was Nikita Khruschev.

Well then, perhaps conservative right wing business enterprises are getting the picture of what their party is really all about. They have the Republicans to thank for their present situation.

The new York Sun sucked, and as far as I can tell, nobody has read it, let alone BOUGHT it, for years.

That's why they are closing (it's actually a miracle, and likely a statement to the desperate donations of bitter rightwing richfolks, that it made it into the current millenium). But it is hilarious to see this nasty, spiteful right-wing rag blame THE HOLY FREE MARKET for its demise.

Good riddance. Now if only Murdoch's vile cesspool of a rag the Post would vanish, life would be even better. Too bad he's got enough money to sell the thing for pennies and ensure his mind-lock on New York's ignorant wingnut hordes.

    Andrea Mitchell, NBC Reporter
    MSNBC's Morning Joe

Andrea Mitchell said on MSNBC's Morning Joe that former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich,, worked very hard behind the scenes to kill the bailout plan, despite issuing a statement that he would have supported the legislation if where still in Congress

    Mitchell Said:

"I am told reliably by leading Republicans who are close to him. He was whipping against this up until the last minute.... Newt Gingrich was telling people in the strongest possible language that this was a terrible deal, not only that it was a terrible deal., that it was a disaster it was the end of democracy as we know it that it was socialism, and then at the last minute comes out with a statement when the vote was already in play"

Is Newt off his bi-polar meds again?

Just more GOP spin, lies and hypocrisy!
  • buckguy · 1 year ago
Has little to do with econocmy. It never made money. Even the subsidized, right wing vanities presses don't go on forever.
  • Rolf Schewe · 1 year ago
I agree with Cereal. It was a right wing rag.

You always see them in stores in Manhattan late in the day because no one buys them. The Times and the tabloids usually sell out daily. Even free papers like AM New York and the others fair much better.

As they would say about other failed businesses, the market determined their fate.

Don't count out the possibility of a last minute acquisition by Murdock. He may seek to purge the paper for it's conservative writers to incorporate them into the NY Post.

I'd like to know how much of this was not being able to access a line of credit and how much was just becoming completely irrelevant with a lame duck president, a Rethuglican candidate that's in free fall and that the paper for its run espoused everything that has resulted in our current multiple dilemmas?

Because I can't imagine there are too many NYers that would actually buy the Sun on a regular basis.
