AMERICAblog: DSCC spending $5 million against Collins in Maine?

  • jr · 1 year ago
I get Tom Allen's congressional email newsletter. His passion for Maine is unsurpassed especially by Joe Lieberman's flowbee addicted wingwoman Susan Collins

Just be careful... The ads need to appeal to Independents, focus on Collins's role as Gov't affair chair, and as red stamp to any Bush administration fiscal boondoggles, ditto with the Medicaid Prescription drug boondoogle. I don't know her record on the Northeast home heating oil reserve, but it would be interesting if her record is not all different than Bush, who seemed ideological opposed in doing anything to help home heating oil reserves or the price.

Lots of Dem money in NC, too, esp. in the governor's race. Seven term yuppie Rethug mayor of Charlotte Pat McCrory, the Chamber of Commerce cheerleader and tool who has overseen the destruction of quality of life for the working class there, is lagging way behind Bev Perdue, the Dem candidate. Under McCrory, the banking Rethugs have established an evil foothold in the Queen City, changing the face of Charlotte from a medium-sized, liveable city to a money-grubbing, downtown condo and business high rise freak show which few can afford.

If it hadn't chewed me up and spit me out 10 years ago, I doubt I would have survived. But it's lovely (for the time being at least) out here, 30 miles away, enjoying nature. However, Charlotte growth is spilling over into this county, becoming a Rethug stronghold due to the vast numbers of banking commuters and other affluent Charlatans who can't quite afford the million dollar McMansions which have sprung up in Charlotte over the past 10 years. Half a million is a sure thing they can afford, though. Lower taxes, more house, but more travel, so the traffic and air is becoming quite nasty and the schools overcrowded, of course.

OT: Not so surprising, the first topic on "Reliable Sources" is the coverage Obama is getting on his tour...talk about "green eyed jealousy" coming from both cable news and the Rethugs.

What many are overlooking is that Obama had the good sense to arrange for the major broadcast network anchors to be there, unlike McBush, whose ego expects them to do be.

Howie Kurtz actually stated that it appears the 3 networks are paying undue attention to Obama, leaving McBush in the lurch. Where the hell has he been in the last 8 years, moronic stenographer that he is?

The operative word today among cable seems to be "bias."

Yeah, the Corporate Cable Whores figure kissing McCain's Ass is the way to go.

When it turns out not to be the way to go, they get pissed.

Watching Gore on MTP with antenna. Can barely get an image but the audio's pretty good.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
I think Tbone Pickens is feeling guilty for being a turd the last two big elections. Fuck you, you swift boating creep. Hey, I have an idea. I'm going to oppose everything you do.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    He's working on some scam.

    Don't trust him.

Smart money says he's trying to get some support for some windmill thing he's involved in, either because he'll have trouble getting the approvals otherwise, or he's planning to turn it into a 527 that "supports" McCain.

Beware Texas Oil Men bearing gifts is what I say.

    :Let's take Bush's Auntie down.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Wow, it's really a good thing you wingnuts shoved bush on us by stealing two elections. I shudder to think how bad things would be now if Gore had been the rightful president. Gosh, that should terrify any braindead person. Please don't vote for a democrat.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Gore is one of the few people in this world I actually respect and actually sorta luv.

OK, Dickhead Gregory is coming up on MTP after Gore. Click, off my screen.

Another tip I've learned by checking out movies from the library and I guess renting anywhere unless you buy them, is wipe the dvd. There was some sort of greasy stuff on one I checked out. I buy windex and with other plastic bottles, weaken it down with water. Terricloth rag. It goes about 3 times as long and gives you the same cleaning, although it's a little more watery, of course.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
The same goes for toothpaste. Just a little ball in the middle on the toothbrush. You don't have to run it all the way across the bristles. I brush a couple of times a day and I've had this small tube for almost a year. They show commercials where they're showing you to run it all the way across to make you use it up faster so they can sell more.

Wash you freezer bags. They'll be fine to use over and over. Eventually, they'll get a tiny hole in it but it's still fine to freeze solid stuff instead of milk that may go bad.

Right now, folks here in Maine are freaking about next winter's oil bill, food bill, and cost of living. Susie would need for both gas and home heating oil (which 80% of Mainers use) to drop $1-3 a gallon to have a shot of retaining her seat.

If the economy continues to tank? All Tom has to do is show up.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Buy a few electric heaters to help offset it. Buy them now while they're cheap. I only heat one room in the winter and my electric bill ran about $40 a month from October to March.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
There may be some safety issues with electric blankets so I would avoid that when there's so alot of cheap quilts out there for alot cheaper.

Good advice; we have a few felectric space heaters for backup/ keep basement pipes from freezing.

We had put in a Rinnai heater upstairs about 3 years ago and happy with results, so added 2 more in June. Still have oil for backup, but keeping it set to 50 degrees. Adding insulation to attics and basement; gonna wrap stone foundation wih plastic/ hay bales. Replaced all windows/ sealed siding 5 years ago.

Have my pantry stocked up on non-perishable goods. Tripled gardens and freezing everything we harvest. Just transplanted second crop of tomatoes and pepers; have 2nd broccoli crop ready to transplant. Will spend next week freezing more broccoli, zucchini and bushels of cukes and green beans.

But of course, the economy is fine and I'm a whiner. .. ;)

Collins first got elected by being in the right place at the right time. She was waaaaaaaaay back in a three way primary race with a zillionaire republican businessman and a right wing evangelist. The religious guy got chased out of Alabama(?) for boinking his twelve year old babysitter. The businessman denied releasing the details but there was some kind of relationship with the detectives that dug up the dirt on the religious child molester. Maine got so fed up with the two of them that Susan Collins came up from so far behind and it looked like jet assist.

Here's a link to a story discussing that, as well as alot of back story on both Collins and Olympia Snowe:

Give to the DCC and the DNC. This year, we need to cull the wood lot!
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
Susan Collins and Norm Coleman are two peas in the Bush/
Cheney pod. Their support of the Bush agenda should be all that is needed to seal their fates when the Bushman leaves office and McSame returns to one of his 8+ homes where hopefully the real estate taxes have been paid.

wow.. 5 million is a ton of ads here in Maine. I'm glad they are gonna push hard to unseat the lying "I wont serve more then 2 terms" loyal Bushie Susan Collins.

    Go Tom Allen!

The incumbent has an automatic edge unless there's been an enormous screwup. It will take a lot of money to overcome the familiarity she's built on over the years.
