AMERICAblog: Elitist? McCain drove in a nine-car motorcade from his compound to get a large cappuccino

What a Maver[d]ick.
lynchie

I guess the "large" cappucino requires the use of 9 Secret Service SUV''s to pick up and deliver. That is a lot of coffee, of course that is ok because he never got any cappucinos while he was a POW.
Steve_in_CNJ

how many tires is that? has anyone checked tire pressure?
Steve_in_CNJ

ah, the smell of coffee and aging elitists in the morning.
MrsTarquinBiscuitbarrel

And the salaries of the Secret Service agents add up to how much? And the gas for the SUVs? Man, that's one expensive cappucino! You'd think that Cindy would have a barista in residence--probably it would work out cheaper.
ARP

Some of this may have been dictated by the Secret Service, but nine cars seems a little much, even for them. Remember all the Pelosi flack over flying back and forth from California?
Apphouse50

Yeah, well, were I out there screeching about my opponent's elitism and celebrity status I wouldn't be taking a 9 car motorcade to ANYthing but official functions.

He's a man of the people! He went to Starbucks for goodness sake. He could have had one of his servant that he spends almost a quarter million a year on finely craft it using boiled blond virgin tears, but no, he got it from starbucks, and had a breatakingly overpriced stale pastry too!
Apphouse50
A man of the people would have gone to Dunkin Donuts, thank you very much.
His POWness has shown himself not to be a real man by quaffing cappuccino. I wonder if his staff will fire back that he didn't get any Starbucks for those 5 1/2 years. Now THAT would be really great!

Couldn't he send someone to get him one? Who is paying for the gas? I see an ad
He is the principal foreign policy adviser to John McCain and potential successor to Henry Kissinger and Zbigniew Brzezinski as national security adviser to the president of the United States.
But Randy Scheunemann has another identity, another role.
He is a dual loyalist, a foreign agent whose assignment is to get America committed to spilling the blood of her sons for client regimes who have made this moral mercenary a rich man.

You should see how many cars it takes McCain to go to the bank.

I assumed that story was joke.
I can't wait for the lame-ass PR photo ops that are going to arise from this. What will it be? John and Cindy "clearing brush?"

Things aren't bad for the 10 home, 9 car motorcade crowd.
The first sentence from the article applies directly to the McCains.
"Let's say you have a net worth of $100 million and you lose half that amount. You'd still have a net worth of $50 million. And you'd still go shopping."
Winter said the only storm cloud most luxury-goods retailers have seen has been a pullback by the so-called aspirational wealthy, people with a liquid net worth below $1 million. They tend to shop at high-end department stores like Saks Fifth Avenue.
It is the glass is half full attitude that will prevail and bring us out of this depression into total poverity. For the McCains, maybe they sell a house or two so they can buy some filet for the fucking mutt.

Looks like about a 20 mile round trip from 11455 E Hidden Valley Ranch Rd to the nearest Starbuck's in downtown Sedona, on Hwy 89 near Rodeo Rd.
Let's see: 9 SUV's at 12 mpg vs one aide driving a Honda at 30 mpg equals ....
Sorry but its not as powerful of an symbol of elitsism like the houses are. Obama travels in motorcade too now because of who he is. Was the coffee run a waste of energy (gas etc ) YES ....its not eloitism its wasteful.

Steve_in_CNJ

i think it was nine cars. or maybe 8. i'll have my staff get to you.
but it does raise the question, at what point does a motorcade coffee-run become elitist. i'm going to say somewhere between 2 and 3.

Next his motorcade will switch to Volvos.
Soundboy_jeff_meanie

Volvos?? nah... Swede vehicles tend to show a soft, non-aggressive personality.
I'd predict a switch to military Humvees... whit the POW/MIA flags waving from the antennas.

I think this housing crisis may be the turning point of this election. If Obama's campaign is smart, they will drive this (and drive this, and drive this, and drive this...) into the American psyche just like Rove did to Kerry with the Swift Boat horseshit. The only difference being, the Swift Boat horseshit was... horseshit. This is a great example of numerous problems with McCain. He's borderline senile (can't remember how many fucking houses he's got?!?!), he's out of touch with the economy, and he's more elitist then Obama could ever hope to be (it would also be smart for the Obama campaign to start bringing up McCain's expensive taste in footwear).

The 8-cylinder premium guzzling black Tahoes in the motorcade were loaded with 6' 5'' fat 280 pound balding white guys. Add to that the tires, already under enormous strain, were under inflated. A good portion of the USA straegic oil reserves were were depleted for McCain's frothy cappucino sip.
Soundboy_jeff_meanie

then again... using cindy's jet, he could've decided to fly to Seattle and buy his cappuccino at the original Starbucks. So I guess he was conserving fuel as well.

I'm trying to figure how this relates to him being a POW, but his campaign will come up with a more compelling explanation than I can offer, 3-2-1......

Now Governor Crist claims he got an envelope with white powder in it.
Bailey said the powder is nontoxic, the governor is safe and that the letter ''appears to be isolated'' -- unrelated to two similar letters that presidential candidate John McCain's campaign reported receiving in Denver and New Hampshire.
Apparently McCain got two such letters. May have just been mail he never got when he was a POW. Hard to deliver you the mail when you are being tortured 24/7

This screw up by McCriminal is just the thing we all needed. We need to see the right squirm and wiggle. We need to see them alarmed at how "small" the liberals are. We need to see the greed, avarice and selfishness of this elite, old boy group of mother fuckers.

you know, someone should tell cindy that Starbucks has a 'licensed store' division... you know, when you see a Starbucks inside a Target? That's a licensed store.
she should just put a Starbucks in each home... that'd thwart the pesky press coverage when john needs his large cappuccino.

At first, the keychain thing and now the motorcade thing, seemed ridiculous for Democrats to get into. Such is beneath us when life threatening issues press. But on second thought, maybe it is our seriousness, our intellectualism, that defeats us again and again.
This is America! We don't need no stinking issues, at least at the forefront. Selecting our next leaders is supposed to be dumbed-down theater, something that BillyJoeBob can understand, like America's Next Top Model or Survivor, someone who by lying/cheating/stealing can outfox the other contestants. This is what citizens know, this is what they want, and this is what we should give them. It's this that wins elections.
*jangle jangle*
Ooooo, shiny and all noisy and stuff.
Soundboy_jeff_meanie
Mirth, if this is what's going to win... we dumb it down and play by their rules.
we already know Obama's stand on relevant issues, he's got the intellectuals on his side.
mccain's campaign isn't about issues, its about painting Obama as something he isn't... so, hopefully, Obama's starting to play their game. Debate the issues at the debates, campaign on mccain's gaffes and sleazy dealings.
its worked in the past for repugs, it'll work for us.
it does make me feel a bit dirty though... it WOULD be nice if elections were actually about issues instead of show biz.

B-b-but! He was a heroic POW and heroic POWs are entitled to coffee at Starbucks! And he needed the entourage for protection from the evildoin' terrorists who lurk in Sedona, just waitin' to take out a freedom-lovin' heroic POW. What do you ingrates want him do: wait for Cindy to learn how to work the $5000 Italian restaurant-grade espresso machine from Williams-Sonoma?

Please! Please! Please! Please keep up these wonderful missteps, Mr. McCain. Please go out to a fancy restaurant with a 9-car entourage along with Phil and Wendy "Enron" Gramm. Please! Please! Please! You know, I am beginning to think that McCain honestly believes that because he was a POW he can do whatever he wants without criticism. I used to think that it was just his campaign and the traditional media that believed that, but now I think that McCain thinks he can nuke North Korea and then just say, "Hey, they're gooks just like the Vietnamese who tortured me." He is beginning to use his POW status the same way that a hooker uses a low-cut blouse. It's not going to work for much longer, and going to get a Starbucks with 9 cars while people are worrying about gas prices and having 9 homes when a lot of people are desperately trying to hang on to the one they have - if they have one at all - is a sure sign of delusion from McCain and his handlers. Maybe Karl Rove also believes that media crap about what a political genius he is. If so, keep up the good work, Karl. See you in Leavenworth after the election, hon!

Watching Obermann last night the showed the clip about Obama and the VP selection. He looked like he was buying a snow globe. I was waiting for him to pull his wallet out of his pocket.
Now that in combination in a commercial with the gramps mcsame motorcade to get a cup of coffee will absolutely kill the elite thing.
