Hey isn't the lie about Sex Education legislation supported by Obama against the law because it is being aired on TV? Isn't there a FCC rule as to truthfulness or something?
Shouldn't Obama sue for defamation or Slander?

as I posted in another thread, here's something obama could say:
"I was not referring to Palin re: lipstick comment. However, now that McCain has brought it up, let's ask the question: is Palin a pig? When it comes to getting federal pork for her consituents, yes, she is a pig. When it comes to abusing her power of office, yes she is a pig. When it comes to protecting the environment, she is a pig. When it comes to helping herself to lobbyist's money, she is a pig"

Obama did a great job today, with his "enough" statement, and also saying firmly that he is not going to let them get away with swiftboating. Good job, sir. I am also happy that he did not bow down to these guttersnipes and apologize. The feigned outrage keeps going on though. All the rethuglican talking heads, kept repeating the same talking points. But the videos of McCain that surfaced using the same lipstick comments, silenced many of them.
Perhaps Sen. Obama should hire Jon Stewart's writers, and get some good stuff in his ads. They have the knack of digging into past videos, just to disprove of what the rethuglicans are saying.

Also, let's see if any off the record vbentures exist where the normal pit bull with lipstick makes a little on the side with the help of Big Oil. I do not know many rich pit bulls.

Let's not just embrace the pig, let's extend it:
Trying to get the Republicans to tell the truth is like trying to teach a pig to sing -- it annoys the pig and wastes your time.
-or-
Bailouts -- Corporate pigs at the Republican trough
-or-
Republicans -- they never sweat, the just wallow in mud
etc. etc.
Keep it up enough and maybe we can replace the classic Thomas Nast image of an elephant with a pig for the modern Republican party.
P.S. for the fish analogy -- remember that a fish rots from the head down.

Absolutely! This turn of phrase is a winner!
As it's been reported to death throughout the day, I will skip straight to how it plays with someone who grew up in the little town of Lebanon, VA - the town Obama visited yesterday.
Folks in Lebanon know what "lipstick on a pig" means. We're no strangers to colloquial aphorisms. Its use by Obama was and is amusing and appropriate.
So wear it as a badge of honor.
I say, use it and use it often. Use it proudly. It's a phrase that resonates particularly well with rural voters - it's pithy, it's memorable, and it's accurate. Refusing to apologize and mocking the manufactured outrage is a great first response, but this story can be turned to Obama's big advantage.
This is one area where a traditionally Rovian tactic should be employed by the Obama camp - take a perceived weakness (the quote) and play it as a strength. Say it loud, say it proud, and repeat. "McCain's health care policy? It's George Bush's. It's more of the same. It's lipstick on a pig. McCain's tax policy? It's George Bush's. It's more of the same. It's lipstick on a pig. McCain's foreign policy? It's George Bush's. It's more of the same. It's lipstick on a pig."
If someone's trying to beat you over the head with a bat, you can take the beating, or you can hit back. But if you really want to win, you steal the bat and start swinging.
Obama, Never back down to them. It the Pigs that should be mad at McCain for saying that they were like Palin. After all being compared to Palin is an insult to pigs everywhere.

Just saw a clip of Fred Thompson hammering home the "attacks" on Sarah Palin are disgraceful. Oh right, never mind her lies, never mind her sarcastic mouth JUST GET THE MESSAGE OUT, SHE IS A VICTIM.
From what I have seen and heard, Sarah Palin is only a victim in that she is being a tool for the GOP.

I disagree. The media has actually been good, well, decent, about this story - they are repeatedly saying that McCain has used the same expression. Even female, conservative commentators are saying that they don't think Obama is sexist, and they think harping about this hurts McCain.

The new ad should be about the Governor of Alaksa dipping DEEP into the "earmark trough" and hogging more federal dollars per capita than any other state governor...
The founding fathers were so committed to a free press as fundamental to a democracy that they included it in our Bill of Rights. Today we see people like Bob Schieffer applauding wildly as Sarah delivers her cheap one liners at the Repo Party convention. The GOP candidates are so arrogantly assured that their tracks will be covered by the corporate media that they lie openly and shamelessly. When Obama points out the more obvious misrepresentations the press infers that he is whining. The GOP candidates refuse to answer questions, even from lapdog media whores, and no one in the press corps dares utter even a lame objection. Isn't there even one journalist like Ed Murrow to call them on this.

Palin a compliment. Focus on McCain.

Obama absolutely needs to scream at every event that McCain's campaign troops are all closely connected to Bush and Cheney. Nicolle Devenish Wallace is McCain's spokesman. She was Bush's spokesman for both this pesidential campaigns. Karl Rove was proven yesterday to be on McCain's staff. Obama needs to make the list, expose the list, and keep asking how McCain can possible bring a lick of change with all those "same Old" Bush people? There will never be any real change until a "new " administration takes over. Is McCain going to dump anyone ever connected to Bush? I wouldn't bet on it! This lipstick on a pig issue is money from heaven. I sure hope Obama makes good use of all this!

NOW I'm with you! I wasn't on the "Your'e no John McCain", but am wholeheartedly with you on this.
You know what I was thinking...in our society in general, forever really, (even Mark Twais wrote about the "good little boy" in his time) parents, teachers, authorities tell children, especially boys, to obey the rules, look both ways, be polite, say "yes please" and "thank you"....all the while secretly hating or at best mistrusting the kid that actually DOES that, favoring the mischevious kid that disobeys, causes a mess, etc. with a twinkle in the eye.
Seriously, I exaggerated, but just a little. Democrats want so much to run campaigns that don't get harsh, don't get impolite. Voters see this, maybe even admire it, then turn around and vote for the pig that lied, growled, bellowed, got down and dirty.
I'm saying there is a middle way that can get benefits of both. Definitely cannot be meek. Defnitely cannot act wimpy. One can stay moral though by calling a lie a lie, by treating bullshit with scorn instead of like Wesley Clark, getting misquoted, misunderstood on purpose, and by ANY form of apology at all, you give creedence to the lie.
SO, your way is perfect. Laugh as you scorn the bullshit. Smile at the audience and let them know YOU (Obama) gives them credit for NOT being as dumb as the other side would have it.
Take away their talking points, and keep on hammering the real issues.
