AMERICAblog: Europe investing $70 billion in solar powered supergrid

The Neanderthals in the Whitehouse claimed that the U.S. had no energy policy when they ran in 2000.

    Well?

Higher voltages do allow for thinner transmission wire. This is significant as the price of copper has skyrocketed, but even a 12 volt DC personal solar/wind system is an economic winner in Texas. The outer bands of Dolly are stealing the sun, but the wind turbine will generate enough power for lighting, modem, router, and speakers. The rest will be taken off the inverter till the weather gets better. Every watt generated from alternative sources takes money out of an oil man's pocket.

Europe's largest windfarm is to be built alongside the M74 in south-west Scotland after Scottish ministers approved plans to erect more than 150 turbines on surrounding moors. The £600m project is likely to produce enough electricity to power more than 250,000 homes by the time it is completed in 2011, and is well over twice the size of Europe's largest existing windfarm, at Guadalajara in Spain.

Well then the right will claim that we're stealing the sun's energy that it needs to maintain nutrients in the soil for plant and animal life. Such a seizure of the sun's energy being blocked by solar panels would cause all plant life to die underneath said panels.

Perhaps we might then point out that there no plant life would have to suffer if they put the solar panels on their disgustingly enormous houses and over the concrete (or whatever) drives that lead up to their multi-car garages ...

Don't worry. The plants will grow faster with the increase in Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere.

    See?
