AMERICAblog: Evan Bayh, 89% rating at the Human Rights Campaign

  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
Yeah, and HRC loves them some Lieberman too.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
McShrub is coming up on the View.

The only way to heal the party is to pick Hillary as VP; an instantaneous 5 to 10 points in the polls. There's still a whole bunch of democrats who won't vote for Obama because Hillary's out in the cold.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
heal the party...you mean the GOPers right?
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Why do you always think I have an ulterior motive?
  • EmGD · 1 year ago
Ugh Bayh. Would anyone outside of his state vote for this man at the head of the ticket? Would anyone be inspired enough to even click on an internet poll supporting him for VP?

They need to put Bayh's picture in the dictionary under milquetoast. Plus he's a DLC, corporate, war hawk. Bleh. Pass.

Yep, he's got an OK score from HRC. His record on most other issues is okay as well -- seldom wonderful, but okay.

However, has everyone forgotten that making him VP would throw away a Senate seat? The Democrats won't get 60 seats this year, so do they really want to throw away Bayh's seat?

(And, no, unless there's somebody else with a safe name like "Bayh" out there, it's unlikely another Democrat could wins this seat back from whoever the very Republican governor would appoint.)

Joy just went for the jugular.

He didn't answer any of her concerns she raised.

    "Ruh Roh!"

(Ms Thang Rodeo Queen Pillpoppin' Sugarmama Cindy McSame, upon hearing that his HRC rating for gay rights is so high. She knows that Karl and Johnny will have bare assed in leather chaps drag queens struttin around the Castro on video ready to show in the red states where the polls are close.)

Bad idea...another name regular Americans have never heard of before--niether the name nor the person. I vote Gen. Wesley Clark
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
    Yeah, Gen. Clark for me.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
Way OT but Huffpo has a picture of Michele Obama on a mag cover. She looks gorgeous...sure hair and makeup done well...she is a beautiful woman to start with. Then compare this picture with Ms Thang Rodeo Queen and you just gag at the very thought of Sugarmama all over the media for four years as First Lady. Michelle will be like having Jackie again at the White House. Purely elegant.

correction: Ms. TOPLESS Thang Rodeo Queen -- if John McCain has his way.

Evan Bayh is more than a haircut and not really a Dan Quayle. He's probably not a good VP choice this time around. Maybe later. I like General Clarke but I like Hillary too. I think once the cat fight gets going, Hillary's got the balls! ;-)
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Shut up McCain. We don't "grow" from something that should be obvious.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Joy from The View would be my ideal VP choice. Gah, I luv that woman.
  • jcgraham77 · 1 year ago
Can someone really explain why we as regular people have better sense than the leaders of the Dem party? Really, I see more good ideas from this blog/threads in a day than I have seen from the Dem party in my lifetime.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
If I knew that, I would also know the meaning of life...
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
OK, McShrub didn't make any mistakes on television live. Which is fine for him. He did say Rove wasn't in his campaign which is a lie.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
After watching both candidates on The View live, I can intuit it much better. I am now 150% for Obama.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Busboy still plans to vote for Dewey.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
Bayh wouldn't be horrible but he's kinda blah...
and as someone downthread pointed out, we'd lose a Senate seat...
  • NealB · 1 year ago
His HRC score is right up there with Lieberman.

Really, those scores are meaningless. There hasn't been a gay rights issue on the national agenda in, well, ever. Only a few Senators really deserve credit for advocating on behalf of gays. Bayh isn't one of them.

anyone but anti-labor union and anti-choice Kaine

    Got that right!
  • lark83 · 1 year ago
Evan Bayr is so boring. The man is so programmed. I once saw him compare our struggles in Iraq to the need to just find the right commanding general. The man obviously had never been in the military and didn't understand the nature of the conflict/situation in the slightest. He likened it to finding the right CEO to run a company.

I vote for a man with real international experience - Gen Clark.
  • markdanielsnyder · 1 year ago
I would not look to HRC for your recommendations. Let us not forget they endorsed Joe Lieberman, Susan Collins, Mary Bono, and Al D'amato among many other war monger, anti-choice, anti-immigrant, conservatives. HRC continues to put the desires of the elite above the needs of the oppressed.

Can't imagine why he'd chose someone who supported Hillary in the primaries.

The perfect cannot be allowed to be the enemy of the good.
Bayh can help win Indiana, and help with Michigan and Pennsylvania.
Just because we don't get the most progressive VP candidate possible, doesn't mean that Obama + conservative dem VP choice couldn't do a good job.
We have been locked out of the White House for 8 years and the results have been disasterous. How many people have died or seen their incomes decline horribly because Bush was there?
McCaine in the White House for eight years would be much worse.
