I hope they are right. All of the new items about Pennsylvania tightening is making me nuts.
I am temporarily in South Florida, where the lines are 5 hours long to vote today. I cannot see McCain supporters, who are supposedly lukewarm, standing in line that long.

Now the McCain campaign says it's all about voting for an "incumbent" Obama. They got that right: it seems like Obama HAS been the President since June, while the "real" Decider was, as usual when things get tough, AWOL (Obama's proposals leading on the economy and foreign policy). And more than 50% is happy with a de-facto President Obama.

It was Missy Lindsey Graham who said this AM that Obama is "the virtual incumbent." He doesn't fathom how weak this makes his party sound and how strong Obama has been in the vast leadership void created by Commander Guy .

After the last two elections I take nothing for granted and neither should Obama and his campaign. We had the last two elections stolen from us without a whimper from Gore or Kerry or the DNC. I am still amazed at what a retarded voting system we have. There is no consistency in how votes are cast. Why is voting restricted to 1 day even with early voting in some states. Why can't they do mail in votes. Voting should have as many options as possible. It is about the democratic process not what is best for the party in power or who can manipulate the voters. I say anyone who pays taxes in the U.S. should be allowed to vote. Why does it seem you have to own a house to be able to vote? Why do you have to be a christian to get elected? Why can't we have more than two parties? Too many questions and I am not smart enough to figure out why we just can't go into the voting booth with a list of names and a pencil and check off who we want to represent us. If the voting was over a couple of weeks there would be ample time to count the votes then there is no hacking issues, no inside collusion. Go vote, watch for people in line who need a bottle of water or a break and offer to take their place, offer to drive people from your neighborhood to vote and keep a careful eye on the people working in the polling station. Report anything that you feel is not right and let the election officials sort it out, but try to get people's names and the date and time it occurred.

After watching Obama's half hour presentation I thought why isn't he just one of perhaps six good candidates all with lots of interesting ideas? What are we so afraid of? Does every candidate have to be as bland as plain oatmeal?
Shouldn't this country be able to produce more than ONE acceptable candidate?

That is a real tragedy. We have produced by elimination a democrat and a republican. The process of primaries is apparently the way we get to vet them and decided who is the best for each party, but you end up potentially having a choice between survivors.

Well, I can see the preachers in the churches around here giving their "White is right" sermons this am. I know this county will go Rethug on everything; there just aren't enough progressives here and a very low black population (what do you expect in a county where the head of the NC Klan still lives, luckily on the other side of it).
There are a lot of "outsiders" moving into the fabulously expensive housing developments being built, but they tend to be Rethug banking types, so they're no help--they just raise the tax base and will chase the poor folks out pretty soon. But, I guess it's tough being a working class progressive in lots of places.
I'm stuck here with no means to go elsewhere, which is why I stay online so much. : (

Two years ago I helped my sister buy a home in old Montreal. House was built over 100 years ago. It is a triplex so she has some income. Well in the past few months the rich have been buying up all the homes in this neighborhood and tearing the homes down and rebuilding. The tax base has gone through the roof, the newcomers have at least two cars, there is no off street parking so my sister who uses the subway during the week but on weekends uses her car to shop etc. now has to be careful when she leaves her parking spot. The old world appeal is being replaced by the yuppies who want all the advantages of the suburbs in mid town and the whole feel of the community has been turned up side down. I told her to get a real estate agent and sell and we will look for a house in another part of Montreal. So like you she is being chased from an area that was comfortable, safe and affordable to now commuting and changing her whole lifestyle.

O'Reilly to the rescue: Will provide 'checks and balances' for the liberal media if Obama wins
Here's another edition of the BillO Comedy Hour. O'Reilly is very worried that he's one of the only people who will be looking out for the folks if Obama and the Democrats win a strong majority in Congress.
I know a couple of otherwise almost sane people who have allowed their minds to become poisoned by Bill O'Reilly's fake looking out for the little-guyism. I don't get it.

O'Reilly et al make a hugely profitable business out of exploiting the resentments of white people too stupid and defeatist to understand where their own interests really reside. (Marx called it "false consciousness").

I still don't trust the GOP, you know they will try and do what's necessary in stealing this election.
Bottom line, if you haven't voted yet, go and vote! Show up in huge numbers, make it hard for the GOP.
That said, what wonderful news. The religious nut cases are praying to GOD for O to lose. God knows better.

I don't like any of this polling publicity. It keeps people from voting. Why bother? It should be made illegal. Along with many other campaign, voting and election content. American election politics is cheater's heaven. When are we going to start doing one thing right?

All of these are way too optimistic. I believe Obama is on track to win, but by only about 5 points in the popular vote (51-46-2), and with between 291 and 311 electoral votes.
I am temporarily in South Florida, where the lines are 5 hours long to vote today. I cannot see McCain supporters, who are supposedly lukewarm, standing in line that long.
