  • LunaStick · 1 year ago
I'm avoiding reading this. I want to hear it first.

Richardson is giving a good speech right now.
  • DAB · 1 year ago
Yeah, me too. Could you add "Spoiler Alert" to the headline, please?
  • rkarena · 1 year ago
Spoiler alert added - thanks for the suggestion.
  • DAB · 1 year ago

damn pacifist red-doper diaper baby hippy-freak, not one word on nuking iran and carpet bombing russia, mccain will have to do better
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
Damn good speech excerpts. Tonight we should all go to sleep smiling!

And tomorrow we wake up to hear that McCain names Ho-Hum Pawlenty as his VP. Laughter crackles across America. Pawlenty, who called a special session of the Minnesota legislature to write discrimination against gays into their state Constitution... and who has spoken out against any equal rights for transgendered persons. Pawlenty is Ralph Reed with a slightly less boyish look.... but equally perverted religion-wise.
  • Rab · 1 year ago
I'm from Minnesota and I hope they pick him so we (Minnesotans) can find out about all the back hand shit this guy has done. PawPaw has never gotten a majority of the vote in Minnesota, always have these stupid ass independent dinks that take away the Dems votes and PawPaw gets his 44%.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    That's good to know.

I couldn't figure out how that Goober got elected.
  • Gridlock · 1 year ago
Clean coal? riiiiiiiiiight. I hate to tell Obama, but there's no such thing.

    The rest is good though.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
No such thing as safe nuclear power either. But, the real purpose of pushing nuclear power is seen in the condemnation of Iran's pursuit of nuclear reactor power, that is, they naturally breed plutonium. Plutonium is easier to refine than U235 as it is a straight forward chemical process to purify it. Also, takes far less plutonium (10 kilograms) to achieve critical mass that is make a nuclear bomb than it does U235 (100 kilograms).

I was hoping Huffington Post's seemingly biased take on Keith Olbermann would stop, but they haven't. I'm shocked to see another slam job by them. What does Huffington Post have against Keith Olbermann? Don't they realize most of us on the progressive left LOVE HIM for his speaking the truth and forcing Republican guests to be fair. If he is guilty of anything, its of being brave enough to speak the truth, and force others on his network to do the same:

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/08/27/keith-...
  • Gridlock · 1 year ago
I praised Olbermann for his bashing of Bush.. it was always truthful. Lately, though, he's gotten as biased and bellicose as his FOX news counterpart, O'Leilly. His fawning praise of one candidate, Obama, while neglecting to shed any light on some of the questions (and yes, those questions do exist and deserve contemplation) make his objectivity easy to question.

... and no, I'm not some Hillary supporter, or a Republican.. I just like being objective.

Our real elected President Gore is telling us how things WOULD HAVE BEEN had Dubya not been selected by the Supreme Court! Wow, would things have been different!!! GO GORE!

"I believe in recycling but THAT is ridiculous!" LOL
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
I like Gore, but this is a pretty wonky speech.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
OK, now he's picking it up.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Gore is speaking too fast! Slow down, dude...
  • munjoyfan · 1 year ago
Will Al Gore be Secretary of State? Will he be Secretary of the Interior?

The music announcing key speakers at this convention has been totally wonderful. Is there a list of songs used somewhere on line?

Gosh, just imagine all the excitement the McCain-Pawlenty convention will create next week.... NOT!
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
Michael McDonald is a God! (singing "America")
Ray Charles would be proud of him tonight.

Susan EISENHOWER!!!! Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A brilliant move on the convention planners' part.
  • lauren1959 · 1 year ago
    I thought Gore was fantastic...
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
    I'm watching MSNBC.
I'm getting the feeling that McCain will be seen as the spoiler of the a better future for America.

That's just my feeling what I'm getting from the coverage from MSNBC
  • afafkd · 1 year ago
    what a party
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Me too, been waiting all week for this speech, want to hear it and hang on every word. Then I'll go back and read it. :-)
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
I saw this on LADYBUNNY Website. She saw this story..and I'm providing the link

Seems a McCain ad shows Barack standing and an audience behind him. In the audience are people holding individual letters that spells out C H A N G E ....well......the C is sort of shaded and you don't see the E.....so it looks like H A N G.

    http://www.queerty.com/mccain-campaign-hangs-ob...
  • susano · 1 year ago
The C is "sort of shaded" and the E is cropped out very much on purpose. Look at it! That can't be a mistake. How sickening.
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
Yes, they really did announce "General FIG NEWTON." I googled him. He exists. Of course "Fig" is a nickname.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
How many generals and admirals was that? Seemed to be about 2 dozen, at least a dozen and half. I think they violated an unspoken code by appearing as generals an admirals endorsing a politician, but if this had been the Republican convention they would all have been in uniform with a military escort and marching flag core, which would be a very major violation of the military code. Being out of uniform weakens this moment for Democrats, but I forgive them for having integrity. <g> I would be surprised if the Republicans are able to find that many military leaders, corporals, sargeants, master sargeants, etc. in uniform to endorse McCain, yeah, in uniform and with a huge flag core of several dozen American flags behind them.

Did you also notice how many were women and even more impressive, Black women!!!
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
They were retired; they can appear in any political forum they like.

What's with Tom Brokaw? And MSNBC? - Talking ad-nauseum about the setting, as being imperial. Brokaw keeps pushing this talking point. He doesn't even try to be objective.
  • Coming Undone · 1 year ago
I know I was thinking the same thing , I don't remember Brokaw being this much of a Republican hack before.
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
I've considered him a Republican hack for many years. He drooled over Reagan, and he's drooled over both anti-gay popes.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    Brokaw's a Wingnut.

I have a friend who saw him speak to a health care group not too long ago.

His speech was all about getting government out of heathcare and turning it over to the private sector.
  • martha · 1 year ago
I can't stop ranting. Brokow, (as he sees 75,000 people in the stadium) says Obama has to appeal to Reagen democrats. Oh, please , we need to register new voters amd make sure all the real dems vote.
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
Is it true there's a line 6 miles long to get into Invesco stadum?

It looks like the atadium is PACKED, much to the chagrin of the Republican mainstream media, which predicted huge swaths of empty seats at the stadium tonight.

Love the Ohio woman and the Fla. pet store owner.
  • therepguy · 1 year ago
This may be a little off topic but I was wondering...

If it doesn't rain or there isn't a howling winds tonight in Denver... does that mean that GOD has cast his vote for Obama?

And what message is GOD sending should, God forbid, a hurricanes or two or even three hit the gulf coat during next weeks' republican get together... I wonder what the republican, far right wing, christian fascist will say about that?

But I know what GOD will say... Whoops!, Denver... I through you sad Twin Cities!
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
Yes, 6 miles...the Police said it...not a Leftie or a blogger. The Police said it.
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
By God, that Pamella Cash-Roper from NC was FANTASTIC!!!!!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_baP8awquM&feat...
  • susano · 1 year ago
Wasn't she though? I Googled her too. And Barney Smith also.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
MSNBC: Rachel pointed out how McCain is struggling to fill a 10K seat arena. Good antidote to Brokaw's offensive remarks about Obama's "imperial" candidacy, which Keith has been too timid to call bullshit on.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
A "brief union???" There 'ARE' accepted definitions for these "brief unions"; you know :)...
  • Coming Undone · 1 year ago
McCain is probably pissed that Cindy can't buy him a stadium filled with people.
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
She can, but they'd all be Moonies.

He might prefer that she buy him 10 more homes, though.
