AMERICAblog: FactCheck.org: McCain ad is "false"

  • Busboy · 1 year ago
That's why it's called "politics"; and, not "truth or consequences"...
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
that's what Ted Stevens used to think...
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Ted's been pushing the envelope for many years. He may still get off w/o jail time; but he was never a saint. "Influence peddling" is his middle name.

    Desperate liar......

What happens when you get desperate, adopt the "kitchen sink" tactics, and start LYING?

    You don't know?

How about I refresh McSame's memory by recommending he go talk to Hillary.
  • bumpkis · 1 year ago
    Excellent...I like that.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
If Obama is down by 8 to 10 points by Denver time? Then expect Hillary to corral enough superdels to win the nomination.
  • bumpkis · 1 year ago
Busboy...I heard on progressive radio that a sure sign of Hillary making a play in Denver is the fact she has not come out full tilt boogie against the McCain lies.

Keeping her powder dry, as are some other big name DEMS.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Popularity is a bell curve. Obama may have topped out. Easier to play the stock market than politics.

No, really. Watch it. Right to the end. You'll protest and squirm, but you'll thank me in the morning.

McLiar has mastered the Rovian technique...you name it, he lies about it. and the msm continues to give him a free ride...

    Hi Ms. tlsintx :)

    Slight correction:

You name it, he lies about it, and the msm (if it reports it at all) repeats the lie as truth. OR, whatever the lie, it's really because Obama is an inexperienced elitist. OR, ....

    But the lie goes unexposed.
    Purposefully.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
    hello dear mirth :)

you are correct. the whoppers about offshore drilling are really pissing me off.
all in all though, this has been a fun day, full of indictments and Monica Goodling foolishness, etc.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
What are the "whoppers" about offshore drilling??
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
these are the lies about offshore drilling...
not just lies, but lies that get McBush a whole lotta moolah from the Big Oil boys...

If he means "less than a year" when he says months, then he's right. There are some undrilled leases that have been held in limbo for over 30 years since Jimmy Carter was in office. When the gov doesn't let you drill on a lease, then the lease is extended beyond it's primary term until the gov lets you drill. All of these leases have had seismic shot over them and are ready to be drilled. As soon as the green light is given, companies will start bringing the drilling rigs home from overseas. They'll do this because they can make more money drilling here than they can overseas and don't have to deal with petty dictators or rapacious governments (worse than ours). If congress merely gives the green light for drilling; gas will be back to $2.50/gallon so quick it'll make your head spin. Then we'll have some time to seriously get busy on some high tech stuff to wean us off oil without everyone going broke during the transition period. Sorry for the longwinded reply.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
busboy, that sounds almost reasonable. still, i think the oil companies can live off their sickening profits for the next ten years and switch over to solar, wind, etc right now. we need to stop drilling for AND burning oil. dontcha think?
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
That would be wonderful. It's impossible right now, but there are lots of good companies making quick progress in solar energy.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
Aren't Reid and Pelosi also agreeable, at least semi-agreeable, to offshore drilling?
  • Shannon · 1 year ago
Why not, they have given Bu$hCo everything he wanted up until now, might as well make a clean sweep of it....PUlousy just appointed David Addington to the House Ethics Committee if you need proof of who she is............
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
Reid seems to be caving...the thinking is he wants to provide cover for dems when people complain about high gas prices...

    i think that's a huge loser.
i think they have this strategy to capitulate to the extent it deflates GOPer attacks against them...i don't like it.

Speaking of facts, or lack of...

I had a visit with a longtime friend today, an 62 year old Princeton-educated fundie conservative. While he admits things could be better in the country and he's not all that excited about McC, he'll vote for McC. Why? Because McC will continue Bush policies and Bush has "kept us safe" since 9/11 and he's also protected Israel against terrorists. And Bush is against killing babies. According to him, nothing else matters if we and the babies aren't safe.

He hopes I am right that McC will not be the candidate after their convention, and he prays Mitt will be. Mitt as VP is his 2nd choice.

And just like the msm, I let it go.
People this stupid just aren't worth the effort.

Which goes to show, just cause one has an Ive League degree, does not make one smart, intelligent, or in any way understanding REASON.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
Yeah. That's been proven again and again and again, hasn't it? He is very bright and, aside from most socio-political issues, very interesting to talk with. I've learned a lot of important things from him and I like his company. But he is otherwise blinded by his allegiance to his fundamentalist religion.
Which proves a point I occasionally make here.
  • High Crimes & Misdemeanors · 1 year ago
Which to my understanding could be known as the biggest, grandest, mother of all bullshit stories, possibly the mother of all propaganda schemes the world has ever known: Christianity
  • High Crimes & Misdemeanors · 1 year ago
.....or maybe replace the word Christianity with Monotheism??!!???
  • mirth · 1 year ago
    That works.

    :)
  • mirth · 1 year ago
So true, but don't confine it to Christianity. ALL religions are a controlling scam and the cause of most of the world's deprivations and heartaches.

    Was, Is, Will Be.

    Credit where credit is due.
  • Shannon · 1 year ago
Well at least he admits that Bu$hCo has really taken a dump on the country, that is amazingly rare for the religious freaks who seem oblivious to reality. So he does not live entirely in fantasy land.

Rove lies and McCain " approves" the lies. LIES are LIES and the tail must be pinned on McCain now and whenever they surface.
