Our Little Maverick? How about Our Little Plagiarist? I'd like to see the MSM ask him about that closeted Christian guard at the Hanoi Hilton whom McSame apparently ripped off from a Solzhenitsyn novel.

Plagiarizing the Solzhenitsyn cross in the dirt story is about as damning as it gets--but do you think the main stream media will take it up? After giving McCain a pass all year long? After continually asking why Obama isn't doing better than he is in the polls? While they play around with this election--they do a disservice to the entire country.

You have definitely put your finger on it tlsintx: Mr.Warren is either incredible naive or he is a liar and a hypocrite.I doubt that he is naiveif he had created such a large evangelical establishment. Mr. Warren IS a LIAR and a HYPOCRITE. I tuned in at the beginning (on C-SPAN), as many I am sure believing what was said about McCain, the cone of silence, and his not hearing the questions. As the questioning of Obama went on, I began tho think that maybe Warren might be a cut above my idea of a evangelical as his questions and handling seemed reasonable and fair-handed. Once McCain was in the chair, I regret to say Mr. Warren's bias in favor or McCain began to make itself shown; Warren made no efforts to rein in McCain and allowed him to go on multiple times giving snippets of stump speeches but also dragging out his favorite war fantasies which he has polished over the years but which seem to have less and less credibility each time they are rehashed. Also I felt it was clear McCain had been given, or knew the questions in advance. He prvious performances are proof of his being unable to keep in mind his own positions on one topic, let alone many. Hearing Sunday about the debacle of the "missing" cone of silence just added more fuel to the fire. Even an ompartial observer would have to make this event a DISMAL FAILURE for Mr. Warren. That he could lie so easily is quite despicable and bringd shame on him personally as well as on the Southern Baptist Church of which he and his church are part.. McCain we know is a liar, conniver, aand crook, so his actions were no surprise. But Senator Obama and the view public is due a public apology from Mr. Warren.

Okay, since our "journalists" can't seem to figure out the un-dodgeable question for McCain and staff, we should try to construct one. How about this "Did Mr. McCain receive ANY information by ANY means from ANYONE regarding the content of the interview with Mr. Obama before doing his own interview."
Suggestions and improvements please.

At least SOMEONE is following this. I think we need to put more pressure on Rick Warren.
(I couldn't find a personal e-mail, but this is the e-mail to the main Saddleback Church - info@saddleback.com)

So would ANY host!
What if there was an accident or breakdown on the road, or someone needed a cup of coffee, throat lozenge, or other trifle to make them comfortable before speaking? That church is a broadcast house, so the preacher KNEW that guests might want to glance in a mirror beforehand. A good host meets the guests and asks if they need anything while there is time to remedy a situation. Simple courtesy means that greeting your guests and assuring their comfort is of highest priority.
A broadcast host who doesn't know where his speakers are is like a chess player missing a queen and who places it on the board in mid-game. Rude and stupid and dishonest.

I know this may be a a small point but why was McCain late, they knew it was supposed to be a special forum with this so called cone of silence so why was he late?
Doesn't it seem logical that both McCain and Obama would be totally prepared to answer any and all questions regarding everything religious and certainly including the abortion issues? I guess it's just that every time a Republican gets one up, it's always a conspiracy?
Lolis
I don't think John McCain got one up. If you think we are winning the war in Iraq, that abortion is genocide, and that all the Supreme Court judges who are not Republican are radicals then he won. But he was going to win with that crowd anyway. Meanwhile, Obama showed a more complex understanding of the issues we face. He expressed more sincerity when talking about his faith and what Christianity means in the world.
McCain did not follow the rules. Whether or not he got questions beforehand does not matter. He acted without integrity and has cast reasonable doubt upon his honor. He pretended that he was in "a cone of silence" at the beginning. He therefore lied to the public. I already emailed Rick Warren and demanded that he apologize to me, the viewer, for this deception in order to clear his name. I also demanded that he give a clear timeline of what happened. I suggest others do the same.
McCain will never apologize, but Warren might have to.
vkobaya

McCain will never apologize, but Warren might have to.
Warren has nothing to apologize for. He is a minister, a man of God, ordained before God, a spiritual leader, one of the chosen, a pure, holy and blessed man, a living saint. How dare you criticize this man who is so far beyond your comprehension. Of course, all satanists, non-believers, infidels, heathens and enemies of all that is good, pure and holy, enemies of God's chosen nation think that Warren lied. They are the same ones who want the heathen, infidel, Godless Iraqi to win the war, want to surrender to evil. You just have to look at Obama, and you can see at once he is not a Christian, cannot be, never has been a Christian and can only be Muslim.
That is why you expect Warren to apoogize. You support the evil, heathen, infidel, Godless Muslims because you also worship Satan. You want to put Satan into the Oval Office.

Questions like "Who is the wisest person you know" (paraphrased) is not necessarily something you would expect in a religious forum, and for McCain to pull Petraeus out of his ass (literally) stinks of pandering (and ass-juice).
The only conspiracy is why do the dems keep trying to play fair and honest when they know the 'pugs will keep doing the same cheating they have always done. The Dems try to speak from their hearts (yes, I know they try to finesse and nuamce what they are saying), the pugs speak from a script (or a tiny microphone hidden under his jacket and tucked away in his ear - like at Bush's debate with Kerry).

Hmmm... Clearly you know how to spell "wrong".
Please indicate exactly where in my previous comment I said McCain's answer was wrong.
Typical republican. You make a totally false and incongruous (that means your comment is inconsistent with my original post) statement about something someone said or did, and then argue your own lie to try to demonstrate how right you are.
I know there is no actual "fair and honest" in politics. As long as the Dems are trying to play catch-up with the republican crime lords we call government (think CNN trying to catch Fox News) there will be no honesty in government. The party of the people can never out-spend the party of big oil, corporations, and false religions.

I knew well before the event that Barack was going first. I think it was announced early in the day on C-Span. In fact, I'm sure that it was announced there. So the "coin toss" was done much earlier.
However, come to think about it, the way that Warren set that up, if you didn't know that the decision had already been made, you might have assumed that the coin toss happened and McCain was put into the cone of silence then and there. Tricky tricky.

ezpz
Or maybe the "cone of silence" from Get Smart:
"The Cone of Silence is one of many recurring joke devices from Get Smart, an American comedy television series of the 1960s."
",,,Part of the humor is in the irony that Agent 86 and Chief cannot hear each other clearly, while bystanders outside the Cone of Silence can hear everything they say as well as speak to them. Sometimes the bystander would even act as a relay so that Chief and "86" inside the device could communicate. Often at the end of the labored conversation, Chief would become terribly frustrated and upset as it quickly becomes clear that the Cone of Silence is (as expected) completely useless..."
It looks like Pastor Warren and John McShame had an inside joke going on that they duped the public with when Warren's first question was:
"“Now, my first question: Was the cone of silence comfortable that you were in just now?”
Of course we all know the pow's response with that creepy grin:
"I was trying to hear through the wall.”

This is the time to strike McCain on every ethics related issue that the Democrats can manage. It should take the form of three ads: Flip-flops, ties to lobbyists- going back to Keating, and his own admissions of pandering/dirty campaign. We do not directly strike at the "cone of silence" issue. Surrogates keep asking the question. Should media pundits try to respond during an interview about McCain's past - then the response should be the same as we saw before - McCain has changed himself to pander because he is ambitious enough to lick a dirty floor to win this election. Should someone respond with the POW issue, there should be a pilot response - McCain did eventually crack as a POW and made propaganda broadcasts, maybe he could not take the pressure during the campaign to act honestly.

It would be absolute Divine Justice to see Saint John Sidney McCain brought down because of a lame-ass "forum on faith" that was skewed in his favor in the first place. I just wrote the ABC blog with my opinion, but I thought I'd also post my comments here just in case ABC - who will all know are TOTALLY unbiased toward Democrats - decides not to publish something that is truthful: Our Little Maverick gets caught scamming the American electorate again, and then he whips out his big bad POW meme to defend himself once more. Why, a POW couldn't possibly lie now, could he? He couldn't possibly change his position on the major issues every 45 seconds, or confuse Sunni and Shia, or not know that Czechoslovakia no longer exists, or try to put the US at war with Russia for his own political gain, or impugn the patriotism of his opponent while using his military past as a cover against retaliation, or call his wife a c***, or cheat on his crippled suffering first wife with a blond millionairess in defiance of the Code of Military Justice without being prosecuted by the Navy for his infidelity because his father was an admiral, and on and on and on. If this was a Democrat doing all of this they would have committed suicide by now from all of the reportage from the so-called "liberal media". But of course Saint John gets a pass, as always. And by the way, when is the major media going to answer the question I have been asking since the start of McCain's campaign: How does being a POW qualify one for becoming POTUS? Anyone? Brian Williams? Charlie Gibson? Katie Couric? Tom Brokaw? Bob Schieffer? ANYONE WANT TO ANSWER ME? (crickets)

I do not want to believe that Rev. Warren was in on the hoax, but it is becoming more and more obvious that he was. If he wasn't then McCain pulled another dirty trick that included shitting on Warren. McCain has succeeded in dragging Warren in to this mess and making Warren look like an ass for not knowing that one of the participants in the forum wasn't even in the building when the forum began.
Larry King should ask Warren: why wasn't McCain in the building? did Warren know he wasn't there? why did Warren make it sound like the coin toss immediately preceded the coming on stage of Obama? why did Warren then say McCain was in the 'cone of silence'? why wasn't McCain on stage at the beginning so both participants could be introduced? if Warren was so innocent of McCain's absence why did he try to make it appear that things were going as scheduled? when was Warren informed of McCain's absence? how can Warren be so sure that McCain wasn't told the questions? why did Warren let McCain run the show after telling Obama no stump speeches?
I am sure there are many, many more questions that should be asked of Rev. Warren and I am sure that none of these will be asked.

My husband says another question is to ask Warren is if he used a two-sided coin to make Obama go first.
hauksdottir
Warren knew.
Warren lied to the audience.
He said that he tried to get a question in advance to both participants, since it required a committment... and he couldn't find McCain.
Yet, this oh-so-holy man-of-god went out in front of his well-heeled audience and claimed that McCain was safely sequestered. Even if so, a room with no TV doesn't qualify as sequestered in this day of techy gadgets: ipods, blackberries, cellphones, and whatnot... sprouting from every guy's pocket.
It was all a charade perpetrated upon people who'd paid hundreds and thousands of dollars for their seat in that hall and upon the public listening in.
McCain cheated. Answering questions about Katrina, teachers, and SCOTUS before those questions were asked of HIM? Stupid. He can't even cheat discretely... but has to rapidly spill the answers before he forgets them!
Warren lied. About the coin toss, about McCain's being in the building, about none of the questions being known in advance... and about McCain's cheating. He almost called his bluff with the aside about poker (although that could have been a warning to McCain that he was being too obvious with the preknowledge), but there was so much money glittering in his coffers... and so many customers watching.
The only losers are the people who respect the rules, and who expect others to abide by them.
The Obama camp has to recognize that Americans don't like cheaters, and we really don't like STUPID CLUMSY INCOMPETENT cheaters. This is a great topic for an ad campaign... showcasing all of McCain's efforts at gaming the system from the Keating 5 to lying in a church... in D&D terms: a chaotic evil player character and not one you trust leading the party.
joeb56

This is a major story. Not because of what happened, but because the Repubs are lying about it. It's obvious to anyone with a brain that McCain knew what Warren was going to ask. He actually asked when Warren was going to "get back" to the SCOTUS question when the question hadn't been asked of McCain, only to Obama. Whether he had access to the questions beforehand, heard them himself or was apprised of them during the braodcast is is moot. He knew and he lied. Lies drove Nixon from the White House, not the breakin at Watergate. Monical Lewinsky didn't impugn Clinton, lying about it did. Bush going to war didn't qualify as underhanded, his lying about the reason did.
Lying is a human trait. We all do it. When we are caught, we try to find a way out of it. Politicos, when caught lying, do the same. In this case, with every word parsed - every move chronicled by media, something as blatent as this is going to be major. This is bigger than Jeremiah Wright.

"Since I have heard nothing but dodges and half answers to this very simple question, I'm hoping you can answer it forthrightly: "Was Mr. McCain capable of receiving ANY information by ANY means from ANYONE regarding the content of your interview with Mr. Obama before doing his own interview."

Mr. Warren, "Did you know at 7:59pm that John McCain was not in the building?"
Maybe the appropriate authorities need to investigate his entire operation.
Can we all make a pledge to watch only MSNBC during the Democratic Convention next week?
I like to know the actual time McCain and crew finally appeared at the Church. They knew they had to be there before Obama's question and answer period, and to be in the "cone of silence" room.
This is extremely fishy. Think if Obama did that, the corporate media would never let it go.
You can't tell me he DID NOT know that the other guest was not there at 7:59pm.
You can't tell me at the first commerical break that someone didn't say into Warren's earpiece that McCain wasn't there.
This stinks and questions need to be asked, when was the coin toss, when who would go first decided, who was connected via blackberries and text messaging and this goes RIGHT to the character issue.
Liar Liar pants on fire
I know it sounds like a simple question, but aren't these the type of questions no one ever asks? And it could be just the question that would open up the can of worms?
However, come to think about it, the way that Warren set that up, if you didn't know that the decision had already been made, you might have assumed that the coin toss happened and McCain was put into the cone of silence then and there. Tricky tricky.

Our Little Maverick gets caught scamming the American electorate again, and then he whips out his big bad POW meme to defend himself once more. (crickets)
Gotta keep it simple so other people can repeat it.
Here's my rant:
Did Warren know at 7:59pm that McCain was not in the building?
Oprah would know, Leno would know,Letterman would know.
By the way, I just saw where the Republicans are attacking MSNBC for Andrea Mitchell simply BRINGING UP the "cone of silence" story. They are blaming the messengers... Republicans, of course, aren't explaining why McCain wasn't where he was supposed to be but simply damning ANYONE who talks about it.
Larry King should ask Warren:
why wasn't McCain in the building?
did Warren know he wasn't there?
why did Warren make it sound like the coin toss immediately preceded the coming on stage of Obama?
why did Warren then say McCain was in the 'cone of silence'?
why wasn't McCain on stage at the beginning so both participants could be introduced?
if Warren was so innocent of McCain's absence why did he try to make it appear that things were going as scheduled?
when was Warren informed of McCain's absence?
how can Warren be so sure that McCain wasn't told the questions?
why did Warren let McCain run the show after telling Obama no stump speeches?
I am sure there are many, many more questions that should be asked of Rev. Warren and I am sure that none of these will be asked.
Personally, I lost faith in Rev Rick when I found out he charged $500-$2000 for tickets to the event. I'd like to know where that money is going, as well.
Lying is a human trait. We all do it. When we are caught, we try to find a way out of it. Politicos, when caught lying, do the same. In this case, with every word parsed - every move chronicled by media, something as blatent as this is going to be major. This is bigger than Jeremiah Wright.
Mr. McCain deadpanned, “I was trying to hear through the wall.”
John McCain, on the very first question, lied to a Pastor, lied to the audience that paid $500-$2000 to be there and lied to the viewers and listeners on tv and radio. Very first question and McCain, a Christian, breaks one of the 10 commandments.
CONE OF DECEPTION.
CONE OF ROVE.
CONE OF BULLSHIT.
They all operate from the same playbook of lies and distortions.
I refuse to get a giant headache over this. It only proves how sleazy republican are that they have to cheat to win.
So is the FOX News Channel...which aired Warren's interviews with Obama and McCain. Both Sirius and XM broadcast live FOX News TV audio too.
