AMERICAblog: Florida CFO on drilling: "shortsighted approach to put our economy at risk"

  • Fireblazes(cheetohsandcatfood) · 1 year ago
Price is determined by supply. Last month Americans drove 3% less miles. While this does not translate directly to 3% less gasoline used, the refiners managed to adjust the supply downward 5%. Thereby insuring that gasoline prices will continue to rise because of "tight" supplies. Welcome to the "just in time" fuel economy!

We need some with a more farsighted approach when staring down the shaft of imminent risk. Charlie is the man.

Republicans are going to get us all killed one day. Gah, I hate them.

And after this vote, I'm really starting to take a different look at Obama reaching out to the fundies, wingnuts and other assorted whackjobs. Why is it that we have to reach out to them? They have never, and I mean NEVER, tried to reach out to us. They're incredibly stupid type people and I don't want to have anything to do with them in this party.

Our entire proven oil reserves, if tapped instantly and with no energy cost, would last us less than 3 years at current rates of consumption. What would McCain do for oil for the rest of his first term?

    21x10^9 barrels / 21x10^6 barrels/day = 10^3 days (or 2.7 years)

If one topic will inflame Florida voters, this is it. We protect our beaches because those beaches are our major revenue producer. The offshore drilling fiasco looks like a Rovian test. McCain jumped right on the band wagon, demonstrating that he's a follower and Crist jumped on right behind him demonstrating that he's lower than a follower and . . . are you ready for this one? . . . dumping Florida voters into the unprepared arms of the Democrats. Won't this make a fun summer fair's ride?

I Totally agree, Florida, as much as I love it, and wish that I was there, I have to say we're just a very wealthy banana republic. Our bananas are our tourist attractions. It's practically all we've got, well that and our conservative voters and their eternal steadfastness to pride and ignorance. Geeze whats with that giant rebel flag in Tampa!?

today's drilling is tomorrow's floods but it's okay because drilling is "butch" on Fox

I'd like to see an article expressing exactly what the problem is rather than bits and pieces. For example, if we suddenly had oil gushing into the country, do we have the refineries to process it? By keeping us in the dark about the real issues, we are left to our own devices based on mainstream media and political sources.
