AMERICAblog: Food and heating fuel reportedly being rationed in Alaska

  • Older_Wiser · 10 months ago
Everyone knows the aboriginal Alaskans are still treated like shit.

Heckuva job, Sarah, you Ignorant Slut.
  • cowboyneok · 10 months ago
    Point - Counterpoint! SNL!
    LOL
  • grandma · 10 months ago
Palin really is just another George W. Bush.......parading under the label 'Christian'
  • Mrs. Tarquin Biscuitbarrel · 10 months ago
Hey! Those individually applied false eyelashes don't apply themself, ya know!
Fightin' with the media is hard work!

  • Bush_Bites · 10 months ago
There goes that liberal, sexist, classist gotcha media again.
  • scytherius · 10 months ago
Hey lay off. Sarah the Stupid MUST whine about the press. She was WRONGED so no more of this. =)
  • dacnova · 10 months ago
And how exactly was Palin wronged? She wasn't remotely qualified to be VP, much less take over if anything happened to McCain. The only reason she got the nod was because she was a female religious conservative that looked a lot like Tina Fey.
  • scytherius · 10 months ago
    You DO know I was being sarcastic . . . I hope. =)
  • cowboyneok · 10 months ago
Yea, "Sarah the Stupid" should have been a major clue!
  • Catherine · 10 months ago
I do now. My apologies again.
  • scytherius · 10 months ago
HAHAHA No worries. Not a perfect world. Screws fall out.
  • Catherine · 10 months ago
I live here. -40 for about three weeks. Now its warm where I am but hell up there. As for your comment, scytherius, she is AS DUMB AS SHE SOUNDS and you need to think with your brain and not your balls. I would mail her to you if I could. Villages are having huge exoduses of people to the city WHICH THEY ARE ILL PREPARED TO DEAL WITH because of this. God, grow a brain.
  • Catherine · 10 months ago
sorry. I reread and I believe you were using satire. I apologize. I am just so freaked out. This is as bad as you can imagine. Entire villages are disappearing into the sea with erosion. Take care. And again, sorry.
  • scytherius · 10 months ago
OMG how horrible. Would that there was something we could do. All the best . . . truly.
  • MikeinSanJo · 10 months ago
    Problems in Palin-ville?

And it just keeps getting better!
  • SouthernYankee · 10 months ago
I swear the more you I hear about this it reminds me of Katrina. Palin and Bush are brother and sister. She is to busy trying to be president and he is to busy trying to not take responsibility for anything. You betcha both cut from the same cloth.
  • cowboyneok · 10 months ago
Palin is WAY too busy on her eternal campaign for 2012 to worry about those "damned little people!"
  • YoJen · 10 months ago
At one time -- in the recent past -- the US was of the wealthiest nations, and this type of thing should have been an outrage. But if we pay attention to the financial news, more and more states, both red and blue, will be suffering similar fates. To put it very simply, the money is gone. All of it, including tax revenues. Municipalities will be hit hard, some of them even considering selling off valuable assets for short-term cash. And so while Sarah Palin is a loathsome woman and has many bad qualities, let us point the finger at the ultimate source: deregulation and crony capitalism.
  • cowboyneok · 10 months ago
Yes but Sarah is such a cheerleader and puts such a happy face on "deregulation and crony capitalism." I'm sure she thinks the reason the little people are suffering in Alaska is because G-d doesn't love them as much as He loves her.
  • An_American_Karol · 10 months ago
Personally I think Sarah is favored by god because she got the witch prayed out of her.
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 10 months ago
I think the priest missed some of the witch in her.
  • Gridlock · 10 months ago
Like Amy Winehouse, it's mostly in her hair.

I seriously doubt Alaska has been able to feed itself for some time. At least since transportation has allowed for the import of agriculture products -- and thus enabled a much larger population to grow than the state could support on fishing and whaling diets, alone.

But hey, that climate change whosie-whatsit, end-of-days stuff should help! Alaska will be able to drill, and plant! :P
  • Mike · 10 months ago
I just got off the phone with a woman in Emmanok, and I had the opportunity to ask her if alot of calls like mine where coming in~she answered in the affirmative~I used my Visa card~hope all the rest of you who happen to see this will do the same, my god these people are having to choose between food or warmth. Where the hell is that idiot of a governor?
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 10 months ago
2009 is the 50th anniversary of Alaskan statehood. (Hawaiian, too.)

I understand she does not care for Native Americans any. Jut "Real Americans"
  • MNPundit · 10 months ago
I get what you are trying to do but it fails because First Dude is a half & half.
  • Mrs. Tarquin Biscuitbarrel · 10 months ago
    Nope. He's one-eighth Native Alaskan.
  • kh7463 · 10 months ago
Thank you for posting this. I have a friend in AK that is having her own share of troubles (can you imagine having to go to a stream to get running water in sub-zero temps?) and posted the letter on her blog.
  • cole3244 · 10 months ago
maybe the citizens of emmonak can look out their windows and see gov palin receiving her stipend for living at home and trying on the expensive clothes she got during the campaign, that should help warm their hearts if not their homes during a cold winter in the socialist state of alaska.
  • wearing out my F key · 10 months ago
sounds tough. i grew up in the midwest, and oh, man. the winters can be brutal. foot after foot of snow, 50 mile an hour winds, negative temps... and then before you know it, winter comes and it gets really bad.

but getting ready for winter is part of the deal of living up there. if they need help, we need to get them some, asap. but getting ready for winter is part of the deal of living up there. these guys are halfway through january, and they're out of food AND heating fuel? that's some poor planning.
  • Blue_in_AK · 10 months ago
It's not poor planning. They had a very poor salmon harvest last summer, and the winter has been much colder than expected. This is a Native village -- they do know how to plan, this was just a very bad year.
  • Daddyo · 10 months ago
Someone needs to tell the Gov. Christian charity starts at home.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/21/palin-...

Fake christians tell those in need to keep warm and well fed then do nothing to help them.
  • lilybart · 10 months ago
I believe the problem is that deliveries have not gotten through because the extended severe cold has made it tough to fly in.

So it's not that they are not prepared.
  • cereal · 10 months ago
But asking the feds for handouts, having Sarah sell her clothes and share the wealth..that's SOCIALISM!!

It's much more important that Americans freeze to death than to ever allow SOCIALISM to destroy the lives of Americans. By, you know, saving their lives.

    Also.
  • celticdiva · 10 months ago
I've tried to make my post a repository of all the information out there on the crisis in Emmonak (as well as linking the media which starts to talk about it).

    http://divasblueoasis.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=409

I also have the audio of the radio interview with Emmonak resident, Nick Tucker, whose letter sounded the alarm. Listening to the interview requires a box of tissues.

FYI--we Alaska blogs are trying to get help to these folks when the State INCLUDING Governor Palin's office, has put us off and offered no help (they were even downright snarky with one of our bloggers who called).

Our main goal is to try to help our fellow Alaskans. However, we're also pretty damn sick of the very-personal hits we're getting from our Governor as of late. It would be nice if the "anonymous blogosphere" could help this village when she wouldn't.
  • YoJen · 10 months ago
    Har! :-P
  • LuZenMyMnd · 10 months ago
This is very sad indeed. Thank you Apphouse50 for the info of where to send monetary donations.

Such inequities should be shouted from rooftops. But we all saw that Sarah likes playing the class/race game. She tried to work it hard on Barack. I guess the native Alaskans "don't quite see things like we do" either...according to Sarah.
