Scarborough needs to go. He represents the hateful past, and can't get past Obama winning. Lose Joe Scarborough and the apologists on his show!

I wouldn't file it, but its the whole hypocrisy of the conservative Republicans that make me have to file it in this case. If he were a progressive, I'd most definitey let it pass.

That's right. But he's not a Progressive. I filed.
It is time for Obama to end "Don't Ask / Don't Tell" this article proves America is ready to integrate the military and end that VERY STUPID and COSTLY policy:
"Majorities of Democrats, Republicans and independents alike now believe it is acceptable for openly gay people to serve in the U.S. armed forces. "
"Today, Americans have become more supportive of allowing openly gay men and women to serve in the armed forces. Support from Republicans has doubled over the past 15 years, from 32 to 64 percent. More than eight in 10 Democrats and more than three-quarters of independents now support the idea, as did nearly two-thirds of self-described conservatives. "
It isn't going to happen. "Don't ask don't tell" is a variation on Prop 8 and Prop 2, Obama didn't work real hard to stop them, now did he? He has repeatedly said he does not support gay marriage, he has spoken New Age platitudes about everybody working together including gays, and . . . I hear some nice words but I don't see progress on this front. I really don't.

It will take an act of Congress to get rid of DADT. Regardless of what President Obama wants. The Senate Majority can't get even get control of the one open Obama hater in its midst . . . and there are too many Blue Dog Dems in the House who would be committing political suicide at this time to change the law.

Let Obama get his feet on the ground with the other issues.....
cowboyneok

Oh, I'm not wanting this TODAY, but I definitely want it to take place considering, if you read the article, America is READY for this change. America did NOT want the change back when Clinton tried to integrate the military. Things have changed in twenty years... thank G-d.
cowboyneok

and Clinton wasn't put up against "any corners" by anyone but by traitors like Senator Nunn who did a highly publicized tour of submarines in which he scoffed at the ability of gays to serve on submarines. I'm an example that gay men can certainly serve on submarines, and even be the submarine's preacher when the straight men won't serve as the lay protestant chaplain. There wouldn't have been Protestant Christian services on my submarine if it hadn't been for me, a gay man. No one else would do it, and believe me, I asked every single man on the submarine to do it instead of me.
Again, America has moved forward on this issue and its time to end the stupid expensive policy. People need to stop acting like this issue hasn't progressed in our favor. Its like trying to apply the "Bradley Effect" to Obama. That was then... this is NOW.

My husband was on submarines too-I'm sure you know the boomer joke-120 men go down;60 couples come back up! He knew a number of bubbleheads who were gay, and NO-ONE cared. They only had trouble if they didn't pull their weight, like anyone else. Sam Nunn was wrong, and I hope DADT gets dropped.

Olbermann is great on LIVE News happenings. I can't remember the situation about 6-8 months ago...but it happened during his show. He was amamzing...he was able to keep the conversation going and not really repeat the same limited info over and over...he was able to reword it and make it newsworthy.

My question is: With Glenn "Bedwetter" Beck moving over to Fox, is Headline News going to wise up, sniff the wind, and put in a solid lefty commentator to replace him/it? Get with the program, HN!

Keith Olbermann was a big influence in my mother's decision to vote for the first time in 48 years. She'll be happy to hear this news.........
Polly_Tics

Milli, what was the reason(s) that made your mum finally vote after all of these years? And how was Keith (and I suspect Rachel Maddow as well?) the impetus?
Milli
Because she likes him. TV is her only source of news. He speaks to her for whatever reason and caused her to care about this particular election.
As for Rachel, I don't know if she likes her, although its interesting that you that you think she "must" like Rachel too.
Polly_Tics

I include Rachel because she is such a special addendum to the Progressive mix on MSNBC. That coupled with Keiths special fondness for her, would (I would think) make your mum "notice" her as well.
Please, does she watch Rachel and why would this inclusion seem "interesting"?

This is a bit off topic--but did anyone else catch Elizabeth Hasselbeck blatantly lying on "The View" this morning? Here's the e-mail I sent to John. She really needs to be called out on this one:
I'm going to have to look for video of this online, but today's episode of "The View" was a day of "Hot Topics." The first Hot Topic the ladies discussed was Proposition 8.
In a discussion about myths and lies used by the Pro-8 side of the campaign, Elizabeth Hasselbeck REPEATEDLY stated that 62% of CA voters voted for Prop 8. I was shouting at the television, hoping that someone (a producer? Whoopi? anyone?) would correct the imbecile and tell her that Prop 8 passed by a narrow majority--only 52%. Yet she continued to trumpet that since such a large majority of voters, 62%, passed this, it should be left to stand...
All in a discussion about the LIES that were told to voters in order to pass this thing! The irony! Someone needs to call her out on this.
She was thinking of Florida. It's even more embarassing because she doesn't seem to know the difference. Florida? California? Whatever!
Ethrdg

I guess her being detested by so many helps drive the show's ratings up, but I'm sick to death of right wingers twisting the facts--or completely making up the facts--to support their backwards agenda. I find it hard to believe that in a discussion that was completely about California, she "accidentally" cited numbers from Florida. (Or maybe I really am giving her intelligence too much credit?)
If she has an opinion on something, she's got a right to that. But when she starts backing up those opinions with "facts" that are WAY the heck off from the truth--that's a problem. The majority of viewers probably came away from this morning's show thinking that Prop 8 DID pass by a healthy margin. Most people will believe anything--and if you see it on TV, it's got to be the truth, right?
In any case, I'd like to see her be forced to cite the correct numbers on the air. It would be nice if a large amount of people let ABC know that they'd like the viewing audience to be told the truth, as well.
Polly_Tics
You are surprised at Elizabeth Hasselbeck's ignorance? This woman is a total hack of the worst kind, her so called 'facts" come from her own mind, nothing more. Remember, she is prone to believe the "facts" given to her by other hacks
Should it be corrected? Heck YES, but the View seems to have had its share of fights these days, so my sense is da goils will let things lie unless EH insists on bringing it up again.

Irony: She has "filthy" homosexuals touching her face and her all the time. They're called hair stylists and makeup artists. They also design the rags she wears.

True. My sense with Betty Hasselbeck is that she knows and likes MANY gay men and women but because of her "political" views, she will then lie about what should be done with their lives.
Betty has been in the Fashion Biz for YEARS now, as she was originally a Shoe Designer, so she knows what's what, BUT she has chosen to become a political lightening rod and has conducted herself accordingly.
It is a damn shame and her conduct is frankly disgusting, but they are HER choices afterall...

John, morning and evening tv news always fill with infomercials that are placed because J&J or Pfizer or whatever placed ads. One hand washing the other as it were. The issue you address is the lack of understanding of PR, Marketing and Companies of how powerful the blogs can be and that that is where people are now getting their news. tv and radio are old school. People want to interact with others but retain some degree of control on their personae. The GOP are a perfect example of a whole organization rooted in the 1970's. They have no curiosity, no desire to learn more and view us as a royal pain in the ass. Support those who support you----simple.

Newspaper in Ok .... lahoma printed nothing about Obama election win; however, it DID report that turnout on Tue was heavy for McCain/Palin.

California Secretary of State's web site:
For Prop 8:5,682,788 votes, or 52.3%
Against Prop 8:
5,193,623 votes, or 47.7%
Wow...what a HUGE majority. All the ditz had to do was Google it--just like I did.
You can send a message to ABC, telling them what you think about this, via this link:
