AMERICAblog: FOX mocks Canadian military's involvement in Afghanistan as four Canadian soldiers are killed in Afghanistan

  • Gridlock · 9 months ago
an unusual name for a man? LOL nice faggot joke.

    capri pants, another gay joke.

Secondly, they're comparing our mounties to their city cops? Retard, our mounties are your FBI, just with snazzier outfits. We have regular city cops who wear tactical gear while they're on duty. Your cops wear shirts. Ours wear helmets and bulletproof vests.

Is this what passes for middle of the road media in America? No wonder the US is so fucking asinine most of the time.

    Jesus christ.

I would love to go on that show and mop the floor with them. Bunch of homophobic, small dicked, blustery fucking nonsense.

..and while we're on the subject of Canada doing nothing, how about we turn off the electricity to the northeast half of the US, the water to the southwest, the oil to the entire country and the wheat for your food industry?

Secondly, where would the US be without countries like Canada cleaning up its fucking messes every second day?
  • mirth · 9 months ago
Whoa. I understand your outrage, but this comes from Fux Nooz, not Americans.

Of course there is a yammering sub-class of idgit Americans who listen to Fux and equate it with truth, one example being CDS2 who slimes these threads now and then.

Scream at him and them. Not us.
  • Gridlock · 9 months ago
i *am* screaming at them, they're just not here to witness it :P

    Oh. Awrighty, then. Scream. Loud.

I understand that you now have a Fox News in Canada. This is what Rupert Murdock has done to the US.

Most Americans do NOT have their view of Canada.

We have come a long way together, and hopefully, the Rupert Murdock and Roger Ailes will not be able to poison the well.

I salute you, and the Highway of Heroes. It is the way you bring your heroes home.

Thank you John for bringing attention to this idiocy.

Many Canadians view Afghanistan like a bar fight. Our best buddy got hurt - bad. We jumped in to go get the guys that did it. But while we were fighting and taking casualties big time, our buddy who was originally hurt wandered down the street to start a fight with someone else who had ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with him getting hurt in the first place. Now we're stuck in Afghanisatan pulling duty we picked up when he left and losing guys every day as a result of it. And he's somewhere else getting killed for absolutely no reason at all.

We don't expect to be thanked - hell, we're Canadians. But please don't leave us holding the bag and start throwing rocks at us too.

For those who haven't seen it yet: FOX News mocks Canadian Military: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVKlFT58Zwc Grrrrrr. Write FOX in protest of these morons who have no clue about our military history from WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam (Canadian enlistees surpassed the 30,000 of their own yellow citizens who fled to Canada as draft dodgers. http://archives.cbc.ca/war_conflict/vietnam_war..., etc etc. I'm sooooo pissed off right now.
  • RainbowPhoenix · 9 months ago
B-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-but, I thought they loved the military. Apparently only when it's our military and only when it's run by right-wing nuts. Ass twats, all of them.
  • AdrianBrowne · 9 months ago
I don't understand what they were even trying to do. It's painful to watch on so many levels.
  • rita matthews · 9 months ago
The Fox News mockers can redeem themselves by joining the American army and beg the Canadian soldiers forgiveness by sacrificing their own lives with the same courage.

Watch this video to see how Canadians treat our war dead. We don't hide them under the carpet like some nations do.

The four heroes who were killed will be traveling down the Highway of Heroes tomorrow probably. I wish I could be there but they do not come down as far south as I am. (I'm near Kitchener, Ontario.) I know there will be many that will be there along the highway and on the overpasses, honouring these four men. They will be treated with the respect and honour they deserve.
  • allamr18 · 9 months ago
This is nothing new. Fox news is always a bastion of gross oversimplification and devoid of any sort of reason and compassion. No wonder no one wants to be our ally we keep pushing them away. Most of these Fox anchors are chickenhawk chickenshits.

Gufeld is a sad case of arrested development.

"In America if you wear a scarf you are assumed to be a homosexual, especially if you happen to be wearing the scarf while having sex with another man. In England it doesn’t matter if a scarf makes you 'look gay', because most British men in the city 'look gay' already."

    It gets worse.

I saw that a few days ago and I couldn't bring myself to watch the whole thing. Our Canadian men and women have been sacrificing their lives in Afghanistan since 2002, in the most dangerous areas. We're fighting a real war against the people who allegedly started this whole thing, not an imaginary threat from a country that was pretty much minding it's own dirty business up until March of 2003.

And the Mounties? Those FOX asshats should come up here and act confused at the Vancouver airport. They will get tazered within 24 seconds and it won't stop until 5 shocks have been administered and they are dead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nv6jR-9Z4mw No horses in sight.

That overnight Fox News show is a joke. Notice that ex-gay Matt Sanchez is a frequent guest. Sanchez has also become a columnist for Fox and wrote an absurd piece claiming that allowing gays to serve openly would destroy our military: http://foxforum.blogs.foxnews.com/2009/01/28/sa...

Trailer trash commentary from Fox. What else would anyone expect?
  • Anon · 9 months ago
This Fox item is truly disgraceful. I sense that there will be a bill to be rendered over this. A timely rebuff will be administered, perhaps years from now, as a consequence. Perhaps in an incident such as the one which occurred when Amerikan airspace was closed in the September 2001 panic with hundreds of aircraft in the air with nowhere to go. Next time, maybe they would like to visit Bermuda or sunny Mexico or even try some more miracle water landings. Loathsome Fox persons: take your feckless imperial majesty elsewhere.

That was a grotesque affair on fox. I didn't even imagine things could get that low, even on fox. I am shocked.
  • Butch1 · 9 months ago
I will be willing to bet that the talk-show "host" and his band of losers have never worn any uniform of this country or any other. They don't deserve to speak ill of any person in uniform especially when they were never brave enough to put their own arse on the line. This is disgusting, even for FOX NOISE.

My mouth is hanging open...Ive never seen that program before and even as bad as I know Fox can get that is so low I dont know what else to say....other than Canada if you can get yourselves out of Afganastain DO IT .... dont be fools like us and spend the next 10 or 20 years there spending money we dont have and precious blood we can ill afford.
  • SadButTrue · 9 months ago
I think most people in Canada, including myself, realize that FOX "news" is just a reight wing propaganda outlet. This is not free speech, this is propaganda coming from Australian Rupert Murdoch.

The Republicans have given Murdoch all sorts of loopholes and out and out exemptions to allow him to broadcast and publish all over the US, and he's repaid them in spades. Perhaps the DoJ should look into some of the more outrageous lies told during election cycles and consider whether they can be construed as free campaign ads for the Repuke party - and hence illegal donations. Heck, if they just fined FOX a few thousand every time Bilge OReally spewed some crap about the 'extreme left' they could bankrupt the old Aussie.
  • Mescalero · 9 months ago
As for making fun of the name of a man who is brave enough to lead men and women in uniform, I wonder if the chicken-hawks on that poor excuse for a show have anything to say about chicken-hawks George "Bush" and "Dick" Cheney. I didn't want to go there, but they dragged me down into the gutter........

    Col Kilgore
As a proud Canuck , i am increasingly distressed that our kids are there, at all, and dying in greater numbers lately too. It even bothers me more due to my beliefs in the event (911) that sent them there in the first place. I support the troops but have no faith in the mission now. I disliked the Taliban the minute they started blowing up 2000 year old artifacts long before 911. The world is full of repressive and crazy regimes. I just cant see any benefit to Canada to stay there a minute longer. I know the individual soldier will get a certain amount of satisfaction out of helping some of the people there but it seems like a bottomless pit of despair otherwise. But, being a NATO ally and being an honourable country we supported our friends, the Americans, and committed Canadian resources and blood to the effort in Afghanistan.
Letting right wing freaks belittle our efforts and blood wont do much to endear the Canadian public anyways. Some of these people need to get out and stand, along the " Highway Of Heros " in Ontario, in the freezing cold as our fallen are brought home to rest. There will be thousands of people out this week too as our latest fallen heros are brought home. People routinely line the road and bridges to pay their respects en masse for every soldier carrying flags and saluting as they pass. As far as the fighting spirit of Canadians? You might want to ask the German SS Panzer groups we decimated after D-Day.

Plus, as for America protecting Canada, protecting Canada from who? Russia, Mexico, N. Korea, um, Iran? As far as I know the only county ever to invade Canada was the US and that resulted in their imminent retreat and a burned presidential house later painted white to cover the scorches, The White House.

    Suck it FOX News.
  • Mescalero · 9 months ago
Ah, the war of 1812, good times. How many Americans know that we were the only ones in History to defeat them on their own soil?

However, Kilgore, don't forget the French. They tried to conquer English Canada and we all know how that turned out.......
  • RobertSanDimas · 9 months ago
I could not finish watching that revolting scene. Too bad Murdoch is a "citizen" of the US (in order to buy TV stations, only). Otherwise he should be deported for being such an effing sleeze. Sickening. My apologies to Canadians. Faux doesn't speak for all of us.
  • Jacqui Menon · 9 months ago
This was a disgusting news report, Fox should be ashamed of the misinformation that was being broadcast on its station. Our Canadian Forces are working alongside their Troops in Afghanistan, in a war that Canadians do not want to be a part of. Our forces are fighting, and dying there. For shame, Fox, for shame! I will NEVER watch Fox again, and certainly will be telling all of my Canadian friends to boycott as well. I believe that Canadians, and especially our Forces, deserve an apology (AND, IT BETTER BE LOUD!).
  • Ruttle · 9 months ago
I live only a few short blocks from the 401 (Highway of Heroes) about 45 minutes east of Trenton. Today that bridge will be packed, as will the 49 other bridges on the (approx) 170km drive that our soldier's bodies will pass under this afternoon. Fox news may trivialize their sacrifice, but I guarantee that Canadians will not. Although I chose not to serve, many in my family answered the call - though fortunately none have died in Afghanistan. Members of my family served in Korea, World War II, World War 1 and one branch, originally from PA, served in the Revolutionary war. There is no shortage of military courage in Canada and my family's story is not unique. The insults of Fox serve to insult generations of Canadians and it is particularly galling when this criticism comes from our "allies." This story is getting wide coverage here and sadly little response from Americans. Without sites like this one (Thank you John) and others like Crooks and Liars, we might well begin to think this is the way we are generally perceived in the USA. As Canadians, we are largely used to being ignored by our cousins to the south, and for the most part I am fine with that. But I can recall right after the invasion of Iraq Canadians who found themselves in the USA were subject to harassment, eg tires slashed, cars 'keyed' and numerous other insults. As much as I like most Americans I meet (and I am in the US quite a bit) I have to wonder just how much contempt for Canadians lies just below the surface.
  • Alrighty then · 9 months ago
What a classic example of the low people can go. But for the family members of Canadian soldiers killed in Afghanistan, I wouldn't respond at all to this latest stupidity. But, c'mon-- this is just harsh. Like many Canadians, I want our soldiers out of Afghanistan yesterday. I do not support 'war as a solution'. My heart goes out to those who have died, to their family members-- both Canadian and American.

Note that Canadian Defence Minister Peter MacKay has just demanded an apology from Fox News. In an interview with CTV Newsnet, MacKay expressed his anger over the comments: "It's crass, it's insensitive, it's in fact disgusting given the timing where Canada is just receiving back four fallen heroes." Friday, four Canadian soldiers were killed in two separate IED blasts that injured another five soldiers. The deaths bring the total number of Canadian soldiers killed in Afghanistan to 116.

I only hope that our friends to the north realize that most of us do *not* subscribe to the shameless, ignorant, callous opinions that the so-called journalists of Fox spouted last week. Our hearts go out to those of you who have lost loved ones and comrades, and we appreciate the sacrifices that everyone in the Canadian military makes.

I have canceled my cable subscription to FOX and will never vacation again in America.

Unquestionably offensive broadcasting. Humor? I think not.

My question to the assembled multitudes is why does the right want to incite hard feelings between Canada and the USA?

Unfortunate comments about 'stupid Americans' while intended for the 'entertainers' at Faux will certainly offend some US readers who will retaliate and urged on by agent provocateur trolls could start a flame war with all the resulting hard feelings.

Don't let the wingers make you loose your cool!
  • Outwestern · 9 months ago
CBC Newsworld just broadcast a segment about the pretty lame apology from FOX, followed shortly with coverage of the start of the latest journey down the Highway of Heroes.

An extremely warm place will probably have to freeze over before you'll see FOX cover how Canadians treat our fallen.

Don't take personal offense at the harsh tone of some of the posts. The majority of Canadians know the blame goes to FOX News and their troglodytes, and not the people who finally overthrew the Bush regime.

Republicans are opening up another front in the War On Obama. Wrecking the Afgan campaign will be another way to "I Hope He Fails". I hope the Canadian govt . is wise enough to see this and set policy appropriately. Then again, as the country is ruled by Bush's ideological cousins, I have my doubts.
