AMERICAblog: FOX News calls Mrs. Obama "Obama's baby mama"

  • acknight · 1 year ago
When on earth did that become appropriate?
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
this will be all we see from now to November.
The GOP and it's mouthpiece fox have absolutely NOTHING good to say about McCain and NOTHING with which to legitimately oppose the Obamas.

All they can do is make nasty, underhanded, insidious references to race and 'otherness' and radical militant angry black terrorist this and that to scare the base.

Rupert Murdoch's dream of Worldwide Mind Control may be coming apart.
  • Gary SF · 1 year ago
When are we going to stand up and tell Fox that this type of smear is inappropriate? If you watch American Idol (on Fox, the parent company) you are supporting this type of crap. Stop watching or stop complaining. Saying it another way, if you aren't part of the solution, you ARE part of the problem. All Fox channels are blocked on my television. I advise that you do the same and email Fox and the companies that advertise on all Fox channels and let them know about your decision.

The movie Hotel Rwanda opens with the main character listening to openly expressed racism on the radio. It was an important sign.

    pam spaulding is on this.

fox news means 'nigger'...so why don't they just come out and say it.

seems to me this stuff is hurting them. people are turning away from this kind of crap. this isn't going to work this time.

george bush is the worst. evah. but he is so bad that he has united alot of americans in believing that change is possible.

in 2008 you spell change O-B-A-M-A.

and there isn't a bullshit fox news story that can stop it.

Stand Michelle and Cindi "Cougar" McSame side-by-side (Ok, at least prop Cindi up and give her something to hold onto) and the choice is easy. Do we want a first family with real family values, such as the Obama's, or do we want a senile old man and his drugged up petrified rodeo queen wife stumbling over each other and talking to the walls?

    See, it's easy.

    Obama '08!
  • BenjiH · 1 year ago
Although I agree that Michelle is the classier lady, I'll never vote based on first lady considerations. If Obama was married to Cindy and McCain to Michelle, I'd still vote for Obama!
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
Obama has too much class to marry a homewrecking whore like Cindy.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
If Obama was married to Cindy and McCain to Michelle, I'd still vote for Obama!

True! Very true! But on their own merits, still have to say Michelle Obama is class while Cindy McCain is drugged up bimbo.
  • bumpkis · 1 year ago
I recall talk a while back ...years ago ?...that you could call your cable tv company and make them remove FOX from your program list, and it actually costs them to do it. I'm sure the corporate answer would be just don't click on it...but that is not the point.

What a craptastic network, anyone watching that slimy shit needs their head examined. I caught my Mom watching that channel and programmed her t.v. so the channel is gone. She is around McCain's age, not too sharp on the flat screen technology.
  • martha · 1 year ago
I took my son to a surgeon recently (not his regular doctor, thank God) and they had Fox on in the waiting room. We told the receptionist we'd wait in the hall. Then when we went in the examining room they had TV with Fox on too! It was mounted so high up you couldn't turn it off or change the channel. By the time the doctor came in we had such a low opinion of the whole place we just left.
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
I always ask for the remote to change the channel myself or I ask loud enough for others to hear if they wouldn't mind changing the channel to
a real news network. Then I joke that once gas hit $2.00 a gallon I got
over wanting to be "entertained" by tabloid loud mouths and decided I
better find out what was really going on. Works like a charm. :)
  • KerrynowCampau · 1 year ago
My mom, who always voted for democrats, LOVED faux news. I never understood it. I can't believe she really paid attention to what they said. I suspect it was the visual appeal.

I'm in the UK and ended my subscription with Sky (Fox's sister satelite distributor) last month, simply because I couldn't stand the idea of putting money in Murdoch's pockets anymore.

Ironically, viewing AmericaBlog in the UK there is a link to Fox News Channel on Sky at the top of this comments page. And the same link is on the comments page about the Malkin piece at Huffington Post as well. Why is that?

Has AmericaBlog no choice about the advertisers that appear on its pages?
  • 2008 · 1 year ago
A "baby mama" is a common term in some lower socio-economic
circles. It denotes a woman a guy knocked up who produced some
kids OUT OF WEDLOCK. Earth to FOX, Obama's lawfully wedded wife makes nearly $1 million smackeroos annually, she holds an Ivy League professional degree, and, as far as I know, she only became a mother AFTER getting married to her present husband, Barack.
  • duchessofbilgewater · 1 year ago
The lovely and brilliant Mrs. Obama, I believe, holds TWO Ivy League degrees. What an elitist!
  • debbee · 1 year ago
Michelle Malkin, the Great Pacific Northwest Moonbat Gnat, strikes again. She's been dissing Michelle Obama for a while now, the last one I read was a ding on the color of Michelle's dress. Malkin is beyond pathetic.
  • duchessofbilgewater · 1 year ago
Did Malkin mention that Mrs. Obama has big feet?
  • duchessofbilgewater · 1 year ago
I just read a little bit about Malkin because i wanted to know if and where she went to college. I was surprised to see that she went to Oberlin! I haven't been this shocked since I heard that Ann Coulter went to Cornell! Anyway, among the other fun facts revealed on her site is the revealing info that her showe size is 6 1/2.
  • duchessofbilgewater · 1 year ago
By the way, on her site, Malkin says she didn't know about the caption -- there were no monitors so she didn't see it. She blamed it on a "clueless" caption writer.
  • Jim Olson · 1 year ago
bullshit. there are monitors all over the studio, and the on air personalities can always see themselves.
  • Deacon_Blues · 1 year ago
I don't know if everyone will get this analogy (if you have a son like I do, you might), but Fox News reminds me of the "Manager" in professional wrestling who rushes into the ring when the referee isn't looking, bashes the good guy over the head with a chair, then backs away, bug-eyed, protesting innocence when the ref turns and accuses him of wrong-doing. These people are slime, and that's all they're capable of producing. They should be totally boycotted by all Democrats. Period.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
Whoever sets up a boycott of Fox sponsors has my support.
  • luvie · 1 year ago
I am not computer savvy but the site to boycott is debone.com/boycott/foxnewssponsors
  • BarkerSK33 · 1 year ago
    and we are surprised why????
This is the same garbage network that gave us the "terrorist fist jab"

One more thing, what the hell is going on with the advertising on this site! As I write this, there is a box above the comment section that has an advertisement for John McCain. The other day I was here and one of the banners on the right side also had a McCain advertisement. I know everyone here isn't going to be voting for John McCain but still....
  • queerunity · 1 year ago
what is wrong with that network? they are nuts!

  • ruthlessgravity · 1 year ago
Doesn't this just put McCain's wife in play? She was an addict that embezzeled perscription drugs from her own charity. Also, i think the blatant race baiting by Repubs this year is going to backfire.
  • duchessofbilgewater · 1 year ago
She was addicted and stole drugs from her own "charity." And let's not forget that the doctor who wrote her "perscriptions" lost his license and strings were pilled to hide her records. Oh yeah, she's a real great gal. (Gal? That's better than what her own husband called her!)
  • RambleRoad · 1 year ago
Barack had every right to appear on Fox and get his points out. Some of you sound like Hillbots judging him.

"no one in the party should be appearing on FOX ever again. And if they do, they should be held accountable for it."

This type of statement is not helpful. Obama is all about unity and reconciling with the Republicans. He does NOT hate them like the corrupt and partisan Clintons. I respect Barack for having the guts to converse with the GOP on their territory. Stop demonizing him.
  • BillP · 1 year ago
No sir, unless you appear on Fox Sports or some other show, no credible Democratic person should engage in any meaningful show on Fox News. To appear on Fox News in any serious way just gives them credibility that they don't deserve. There is no reconciliation as long as they continue racist and sexist smears with no apology. Do not confuse Fox News with all Republicans.

  • BenjiH · 1 year ago
I've been an Obama supporter from almost the beginning, and I think Obama made a mistake here. Of course, it could be my pure, unadulterated hate for FoxNews talking, but I just don't think Obama needed to go on, and I think it was a bad call on his part. We all make mistakes, and this was one of Obama's.
  • ZennButtKicker (tlhwraith) · 1 year ago
Not at all. there is no real damage that can occur from him appearing. Let's get real people, Fox is already seen as "the source" of news for an unsettling number of "mur-icans", Obama appearing on their show doesn't in any way give them any more gravitas. If anything, him showing up on their show diffuses some of the talking points they had against him, primarily that he is "afraid" to speak to them. Also, it fits very much into his message of trying to be concilliatory where possible. IMO the possibility of actually dispelling some of their propoganda and maybe tipping a few of their less fervant viewers is more than worth any possible risk. Worst case scenario, they have more material to use to take jabs at him, who here doesn't think that they would find something anyway or just make it up (like turning a casual gesture of love between a man and his wife into "a terrorist jab").

I think people need to get out of the old mindset of entrenched war that the Dems and the GOP have been fighting for years. If Obamas gonna win, he's got to play by a different set of rules including at least appearing as though he isn't the mortal enemy of all the GOP (although he really is ideologically).
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
Just seeing a picture of Michelle "the mindless" Malkin ( or what ever the hell her last name is ) beside the picture of Ms. Obama sickens me. This woman should understand racism, but thinks she can cash in on this not so thinly desguised version of it. This woman is the first to complain and whine when some of that vitriol is aimed at her, yet she is the first to attack others who are not right-wing ditto-heads. She is a pitiful excuse for an human being, in my opinion. Expect to see more of her on the Faux News Channel.
  • BillP · 1 year ago
It has become obvious that Fox News is just an entertainment channel, not an actual news channel. Fox is to news as Rush is to journalism, basically an entertaining clown. Just think of Malkin and her ilk as the Mind of Mencia, without the talent.

  • Bluestocking · 1 year ago
Correct me if I'm wrong...but in the general parlance, doesn't "baby momma" or "baby daddy" refer to someone to whom one was never married but with whom one happened to have a child? Or at least, a former rather than a current spouse (often from a "starter marriage")? That's always been my impression...which means that it's not only incredibly dismissive and insulting but also thoroughly inaccurate for FOX News to refer to Michelle Obama in this manner. Then again...why should anyone be surprised? Being insulting, dismissive, and inaccurate seems to be their stock-in-trade...
  • stranded · 1 year ago
That's why they used it. These low-lifes are projecting again. This is the sort of phrase you hear on Jerry Springer, the other "news program" of choice for the average Fox viewer. The term is incredibly racist to me, inferring that there's no legitimacy to the Obama marriage because they're black. It's becoming apparent to me that Fox is taking off the mask of civility it had (such as it was...) and going for the straight-up racist card it's been holding from the start.

Michele Malkin is one of the most venomous loud mouths in la-la land. If her picture are name is associated with anything then you can bet your ass it is nasty, nasty reporting. I remember even Chris Matthews took her down when she was on his show and proclaimed "Kerry shot himself to get a purple heart". I would like to call her an idiot but she along with several other Republican loud mouths know how to make a buck---appeal to the fringe element of society.

  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
Faux News? What self-respecting Democrat would ever watch it?

And why is FOXBUSINESS.COM appearing directly above the "Add New Comment" box that I am keying my comments into?

    Talk about hypocritical!!!!!!!!!!
  • ZennButtKicker (tlhwraith) · 1 year ago
    1. Amen on the first point. I don't understand who in progressive land is actually watching Fox to get offended by all of this. The only way I even know they carry on this stupidity is because I read about it. Hats off to the progressive(s) with the stomach to watch Faux News.

    2. Americablog could control what ads show up, I imagine, but given the sheer diversity of adds that sites like google ads serve up, it would almost be a full time job. I wouldn't blame John et. al too much. the other way to think of it is that at least a little bit of venom from Murdoch is going to help progressive causes by ad-supported revenue.
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
I have been wondering the same thing for a loooooooooong time!

What's up with an ad for John McCain at Americablog?

Can someone answer the question? Please.
  • pappy2 · 1 year ago
I am sometimes amazed at how people who are opposed to the abuses of entities like Fox fail to understand the process of social change. Avoiding, and/or not engaging in direct attack on these people gives them the entire field to play in. Secondly, if we believe that most people want to do the right thing then we are obliged to suggest the strength of the right thing. That requires reasoned arguments. Lastly, Fox's weakness is our strength. The Truth! Don't let these people go unchallenged. Obama and others are writting a new history of this country. Get behind it and PUSH BACK!
  • JetSetter · 1 year ago
This issue was brought up by Richard Blair over at All Spin Zone

"I'm getting really, really tired of going to A-list progressive blog sites and finding exceptionally nasty advertisements being served up by the John McCain campaign. WTF? Do these blogs seriously need the few dollars that these Google Adsense ads bring in? Disallow these ads now, A-listers."

    http://allspinzone.com/wp/2008/06/09/the-progre...

Chris Bowers, over at OpenLeft replies with what I think are some very cogent arguments against this reflexive group-think, but you should read them yourself and come to your own conclusions.

hey if it's catchy and rhymes, it's not offensive at all.

holy shit - of course everyone (including Fox itself) knows it's run, staffed, and watched by bottom of the barrel racists but, shit, at least they usually try to pretend like it's not
  • Catsandbeer.com · 1 year ago
oh, and why write to fox? What the fuck do they care? They'd love nothing more than to find that they're pissing off "the liberals" - no, what you do with this latest bit is show it to everyone else, anyone else that might consider fox anything other than blue collar bigot comedy - marginalize these motherfuckers even more than they already are
  • Becka4 · 1 year ago
Yes Fox is Racist and Sexist in the comments about Michelle Obama. They are biased AND they are digging into whatever they can to slam Barack and Michelle Obama and everyone they ever passed by on the street.
They DO NOT care if it is truth or lies AND they DO NOT care if what they say is offensive.
Encourage people to BOYCOTT Fox. IF people DO NOT watch or pay attention to their slime it will boomerang back to slime them ALL.
  • KISSman · 1 year ago
I'd love to send them a complaint email -- but do they really care?

Each day or two, there is some new offensive on-air comment by someone on that network. I picture the people who read these emails laughing at them because Fox News' agenda is to get under our skin. Emailing them to tell them that they did so is also like patting them on the back for a job well done.
  • reflux1000 · 1 year ago
There is enough very wealthy progressives why don't they do a hostile take over of Fox?.
  • Antigone · 1 year ago
These people are a perfect microcosm of their viewers - they just say what the rest of them are thinking. And that tells you a lot about Faux News viewers - racist, sexist, misogynists - who are most likely a bunch of bitter, old middle aged white men who are longing for the good old days back in the '50's - when those uppity negroes knew their place was at the back of the bus, women knew our place was barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, and the GBLT community was still firmly stuffed in the closet. These people make me sick.
  • sgeorge · 1 year ago
I think this is outrageous and Fox News has been unfairly attacking Obama...We need to force Fox to change their bias reporting. I have a campaign that demands the immediate stopping of these attacks: https://www.thepoint.com/campaigns/taking-on-fo...
