AMERICAblog: Frank Rich: Other than his time in Vietnam, McCain's record ain't too pretty

  • Gorgonzola · 1 year ago
You have to wonder if the GOP/CORPSUCKERS have a contract out on any media moutpiece who dares to mention McCains Viet Cong propaganda films or his marital infidelity.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
Gorgonzola alludes to VC Propaganda " films" by McCain. Where are these films? Are you just rumor-mongering? Where's the evidence of your assertion? Let's see the films.
  • Gorgonzola · 1 year ago
A former Republican Senator and Former Republican Congressman seem to think they exist. Check You Tube, Vietnam Veterans Against McCain.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
McCain seemed to be prepared ahead of time. I don't know think this was suppose to be a forum. McCain used it like a townhall meeting. McCain did well but Obama was more thoughtful in his answers. Obama went in at a disadvantage. There was no way he would win with that crowd.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
Southern Yankee is 100% on the mark again. McCain clearly had the questions IN ADVANCE. How else could he continually start answering BEFORE the questions were asked? Yes, the audience in Orange Cty.,Ca. ( the most conservative enclave in Ca ) were clearly advocates of their single issue- THEIR RIGHTS over the bodies and lives of others. I'm not sure that Obama even should have appeared or if he could possibly have gained any supporrt in this venue and from this crowd.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
It kills me that the mainstream media gives McCain a pass. Obama better start getting his ass in gear and have his collegues fight back while he is takes the high road. I would start letting the 527's fight back. He doesn't need to get involved. Afterall McCain is doing the same. If he doesn't start connecting him to Bush more he will lose.

    ain't too pretty

Nor was the failed Decider's past history the clean nose, hard work exemplar central casting preferred.
McBush employed, last evening, a Rovian mix of fear, schmaltz and the Bush/Clinton trick of a well-timed moist-eyed sad face, tho Johnny doesn't quite have the knack.
Enjoyed how Cindy would notice herself on camera and switch robotic facial expressions to caring interest mode.

The world needs more Frank Richs. He's a treasure.
  • tommytoonz · 1 year ago
The world could also use a few Democrats to work as attack dogs and use this column against McCain. The Press won't do it, that's obvious, and the Press won't listen to the average joe on the street. Until some high profile Dems start using this to bash McCain Rich might as well have just written a slathering puff piece for all the good it will do.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
AMEN!!!! The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting a different result. What is the Democratic Party doing DIFFERENT this time around to ENSURE we win the White House? We had BETTER GET TOUGH AND BLOODY SOME DAMNED NOSES!
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
I was going to post something similar. I also read that Obama would turn his head the other way if some enterprising 527s go after McCain. Don't expect much from our Democratic "leaders"--most are gutless wonders. It's up to us grass- and netroots, not just to preach to the choir on the Internet but to get out there and dog McCain wherever he goes. Signs, handouts, mailers, phonecalls.
  • Rab · 1 year ago
McCrazy is about as up to date as the horse and buggy. Will America continue its decline by picking this half-baked, liar? I don't think so.
  • Bobby · 1 year ago
    Brilliant article.

Now how do we get the truth out to people?
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
At least Frank Rich is willing to write the TRUTH! The rest of the media should read him and see how its done.
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
John, the touching story McCain gave last night (in response to what his daily relationship to Christ looks like, BTW) about the prison guard who loosened his ties for four hours a day and then sees him in the yard on Christmas to draw a cross in the dirt before erasing it with his foot is the exact scene from Ben Hur! Less the looesening of the ties, the drawing a cross in the sand (with a staff) and erasing it with his foot before being seen by anyone else is the exact same thing. Coincidence? Uhm, not on your life!
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
John McCain is a FRAUD. How many Americans will be fooled yet again? His responsees to questtions are simplistic, bombastic, insincere, wrong in factual content and often just plain confused. Is it posible that such a candidate can get your vote?

WANT MORE PAIN ????????VOTE McSAME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
Someone- Jed- needs to find the clip from Ben Hur and loop it with McCain's rendition, highlighting Rev Rick and the talking pundits lapping it up like good little tools for good measure.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
EXCELLENT POINT! Also, pan to Cindy's rapt expression and her mouthing the words, "Wow!" I thought I was going to PUKE!
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
Yes, it was tough to watch. I had truely hoped McCain would be exposed as the fraud he is, but he was allowed to dodge every question and deliver his well rehearsed talking points. We need to face it, the media is never going to give up deregulation without a fight. Obama threatens the massive hand-outs Repubs and some repugnant Dems gave them to consolidate their power and control. We have to adjust our tactics.
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
Maybe by going after the gullible media types and making a mockery of them will get some traction. Exposing the truth doesn't seem to work. But publicly laughing at them might.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Expect this: "How DARE anybody criticize a man who has suffered so much, given so much of himself to his country, a country that turned its back on Vietnam hero-victims like John McCain?"
  • ClintonHater · 1 year ago
His time in Vietnam wasn't pretty either. He made propaganda videos for the North Vietnamese.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
    Where are these " videos"?
  • ClintonHater · 1 year ago
McCain said himself he made the videos, so if you think I am lying you think McCain is lying.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
FOOLED FOR THE THIRD TIME ???Is it possible that there are Americans who still don't realize what the Bush?Cheney/Rove/McSame Republicans have done to our country? Faith in the intelligence of the American voter will be destroyed when any vote for John McSame.

    WANT MORE PAIN??? VOTE McSAME!!!!!!!!!
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
My favorite part of the article is the news Cindy Hensley Mccain has her beer distributorship lobby agaist MADD - Mothers Against Drunk Driving. That is real nice of her. Especially considering she is a drug addict. I'm wondering how she can reconcile the lobbying against MADD and her recovery or does she just not "think about it" and pretend it doesn't happen?

"The Los Angeles Times reported in June that Hensley & Company, the enormous beer distributorship she controls, “lobbies regulatory agencies on alcohol issues that involve public health and safety,” in opposition to groups like Mothers Against Drunk Driving. The McCain campaign told The Times that Mrs. McCain’s future role in her beer empire won’t be revealed before the election. "
  • Mike_G · 1 year ago
Cindy still hasn't released her tax records -- the personal fortune McThuselah is spending on his campaign. And the press shows no interest in pushing for it.
Recall 2004 when the press DEMANDED Theresa Heinz Kerry's tax records and financial details?

To quote Ms Thang Rodeo Queen Pillpoppin' Sugarmama Cindy McSame:

"Frank Rich is a real bitch, mentioning the fact that I use my beer millions to attack Mothers Against Drunk Driving. I mean he is just so mean. We really ought to encourage underage drinkin' because that's how I plow money into Johnny's campaign...from sellin' beer. Well all for now possums....there's a huge sale at the Scottsdale Mall today and I really need a new pair of Minola-Blonic sandals...we're havin' a keg party at the ranch tonight!...oh and for all those moms of dead teens who were killed by drunks, let 'em eat cake!"

  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
Well it is Dame Edna's but it just slipped the first time I was blogging Ms
Thang. The bitch has her own blog now:
    http://rodeoqueensugarmama.blogspot.com/

    Feel free to post there.

We are offering cash prizes for the blogger who can find the most hideous picture of Ms Thang to post on the blog....Well just kidding...I ain't got no cash but it sure would be fun to make her look like shit, not that she doesn't already.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
"besides all those drunks who kill families are really helping us regarding Social Security. For every family a drunk takes out that is a LOT of savings for the rest of us! Thanks so much... gotta run, possums. My makeup needs touching up! Gotta keep that blush perfect, ya know!"

    You go girl!

(Too many damned queens on this blog, I'd say....just kiddin' cowboyneok)

s'okay... I got that inner queen just a ragin' today.

Nothing qualifies McCain for the job. He's been a low achiever all his life: academically, morally, socially. Being a prisoner in VN was a stroke of bad luck and I'm sorry about that. There are, however, 55,000 names on a long, black wall in Washington D.C. of those who didn't survive that war. He did.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
As many times as McCain crashed his jet in Viet Nam, he was either going to get captured eventually, or die in a plane crash... it was just a matter of time.
  • shrrrr · 1 year ago
I woke up this morning with a very sick feeling that this country is about to make a big mistake. A very sick feeling.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
How can this country make the same mistake THREE TIMES ?
  • shanobama · 1 year ago
I got the impression McCain had been given the questions Pastor Rick was going to ask in advance.

Yea, 100% sure, but no way to prove this.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
shanobama is onto something. How else could McSame start answering Warren's questions even before they were asked? Remember Bush in that debate with the bulge in his jacket? The Republicans DON'T RESPECT THE LAW or HONESTY. This is not new. Also, how easy to telephone McCain in that room before he came on stage. His performance gave many clues that he was tipped off in advance.

Young South Ossetian American girl gets interviewed by Fox News, and much to Fox's dismay, she THANKS the Russian troops from protecting her and her family from Georgian's aggression and bombing. Oops! Kind of ruins the Bush McCain narrative.

    http://www.jedreport.com/2008/08/the-drama-quee...

    Jed quotes Andrew Sullivan:

It's this kind of emotional hyperbole that should worry people about McCain in the White House. He's a drama queen on these issues. With a finger on the trigger.

Interesting about Ben Hur. Although I suppose it could be legitimate. OTOH, could be like Hillary talking about Bosnia.
  • jr · 1 year ago
McCain cost taxpayers millions when he lost the 5 planes but everything is "pork"
  • shanobama · 1 year ago
Except, of course, the 128 Billion in tax dollars to bail out the Keating friends and family.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
The military record plus the congressional record equal a picture of a man totally unfit to lead. He is less stable and competent han is George W. Bush.

FOUR MORE YEARS OF PAIN FROM JOHN McSAME
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
The tragedy of the full McCain record is that it is getting very little attention in the media. Cut off the donuts and do the job so that the real John McSame and not the mythical hero is shown. I can't recall a more unfit candidate who has, up to now, not been even partially exposed to the reality of what he has been and is today.

WANT MORE PAIN ??????? VOTE MCSAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Frank Rich's column in Sunday's NYTimes was a long- needed look at the real McSame, however, I would sugest that Mr. Rich write a sequel. The McCain voting record is a direct contradiction of all he puts forth today. His voting record is an abomination and a very clear picture of a man who now stands for nothing except stealing an election. He is the Manchurian Candidate and his record is the best proof. His social/religious record is an equal abomination and ought also to be detailed for the country to read. A reading of this man's history is anything but heroic.

Kick the arrogant swine out of Washington.
  • sconset · 1 year ago
Thank God for Frank Rich--the Sunday Times just isn't the same when he is on vacation--his article today was just perfect yet the clowns in the DC press refuse to acknowledge McCain for what he truly is--an extension of Bush/Cheney.

I find McCain's lack of knowledge on issues that he should have a firm grasp on to be sadly lacking but his adoring fans in the press continue to turn a blind eye on any gaffe he makes.

This is one person who isn't fooled by any of them--I can't watch Meet the Press, Blitzer, Matthews, without thinking that they are one big happy family and they all deserve each other--living very pathetic lives and lies.
