AMERICAblog: Franken picked up 37 votes from machine with uncounted ballots. This one is far from over.

That's excellent! Wonder how many others are hidden out there?

Onward to the win for Franken!

BTW and OT, the WH somehow discovered that an ornament it accepted from a WA state artist was actually a plea for Bush's impeachment (seen on MSNBC). It was removed from the xmas tree.

Coleman and the Republcans electronically stole this election back in 2002. That Senate seat theft, along with the electronic theft of the Georgia Senate seat gave the GOP the majority in the Senate. Electronic eiection theft has given us eight years of Bush/GOP fascism and treason. Time to return to hand-counted paper ballots in our elections, the way that they do in most of the rest of civilized world, as in Canada, Ireland, Spain and New Zealand.

now... If Franken pulls ahead, will coleman concede?

he's the one that was quoted as saying "If I were behind, I'd concede"... of course, that was before all the votes were tallied.

I hope Franken wins... and I hope he records coleman's concession phone call.

Can someone explain about comments I have heard in the past months about the Dem Party establishment not supporting or liking Franken? I may have imagined it, but I think I heard that Chuck Schumer and others were dreading having Senator Franken in the Senate.....and this morning, I heard Chuck Todd say something to the effect that the Dem establishment did not want other "stars," such as Sean Penn or Tim Robbins think that they could run for national office. I admit I only have one ear tuned to the tv half of the time, but if I heard correctly, WTF? Did anyone hear the same, and does anyone know why? Thx.

I don't know why either but I heard the same thing a while back....that they didn't want Franken cuz it would encourage entertainers from Hollywood to run.

I sure hope Franken wins this.

Nate Silver is saying the odds probably just shifted to Franken:

"The final piece of news is that the Canvassing Board has instructed county officials to sort through rejected absentee ballots, and identify those ballots which did not appear to have a valid reason for rejection. This is potentially (although far from certainly) a precursor to those ballots actually being counted, a process which we estimated would result in a net gain of 25 to 100 votes for Franken..."

Since Franken's team thinks he is behind by 10-15 with the new Ramsey votes, the absentee ballots would put him over the top. Franken could also gain from the remaining 8% un-recounted in Hennepin.

I've been watching this one closely in the state of my birth, and it's a real nail biter.THAT was a hell of a nice pickup for Franken, if those ballots had matched the original precinct split, he would have only picked up 12.

The challenged ballots are a complete joke, on both sides, 90% are easy to judge, they're both making frivolous challenges.

It's the (possibly) erroneously rejected absentee ballot envelopes that is key here. And, also, whether a court or the canvassing board will allow people to cure simple defects in their envelopes, like they allow here in WA state. If you forget to sign your envelope, or the sig doesn't match, here in WA they send you a letter with an affidavit you can send back to "cure" your ballot envelope.

Apparently, in MN, SOME counties were checking the envelopes in advance as the came in, and contacting voters about problems. But SOME counties did not do that. This is disparate treatment. When these are judged legitimate and counted, they'll break around 55% for Franken.

I predict this will go to the MN Supreme Court eventually for final determination. And, if it's down to a handful of votes, The US Senate could order a run-off election, which has happened before. Had there not been a strong (16%) third party candidate, Franken would have won this handily.

And there are seriously large bunch of dumb-ass republican cretins bloviating on the blogs of the major MN daily newspaper, the The Star Tribune.

wow, this could go on for a while. I like the fight Al is giving, though. It ain't over til it's over and I hope Norm is sweating bullets.

Has the smell of "I think Kerry's gonna come back to win", to me.

It would be absolutely wonderful to have Senator Franken, though.

Seems to me that anything this close should be considered a tie and a new election should be called. A difference of a few dozen votes just isn't meaningful.

But, right, I understand that new legislation would be required for that to become policy.
