Whew! That picture of Sushi with her paws digging into the orchid pot. Our cat, Niki, used to feud with my father, taunt him, etc., knew better than to mess with two things, his art pieces and his orchids. If he had touched either, Niki would have been sushi.
Niki used to mess with my father all the time. My father's rule was that Niki wasn't allowed in the front of the house, that is living room and bedrooms. When Niki would come into the back, he would drum his paws on the floor to get my father's attention, then race into the front under my father's legs. When he was outside and saw my father come home, he would jump up and down on the plastic awning after my father went in the back door.
My father once decided we needed an expensive teapot and brought home one that cost $15, a very nice teapot in those days. Niki jumped up on the counter where my father placed the new teapot. He gave it a very small nudge and when my father did nothing, he swatted it, smashing it on the floor. However, my father's art pieces where he swept the art show at the New York Art Museum or his orchids, he was far, far too smart ot touch.
Cats always are a lot, lot more aware of what is going on than we can even imagine. Niki probably planned to smash the teapot the night before when my father talked about buying the new one.

Nasdaq (wtf?) might want to cut back on the mice. they're soooo fattening.
Anybody having trouble accessing Crooks & Liars, Balloon Juice, Political Animal? Everytime I try I get a popup that says "Internet Explorer cannot open site. Operation aborted.
Could it be Comcast is blocking them or could all three of those sites be having problems?

The first photo of Sushi and the orchids, stunning. The light is sort of mysterious, really beautiful.
I am training a coated Xolo puppy this summer. The Aztec dog. What a character. I have not had a puppy for 18 years.

What is it with cats and suitcases?!? Every time the wife and I come back from vacation, the cats are all over the suitcases. We can't put the suitcases away for a week. When friends and family come to visit, the cats are all over their suitcases. If it happened once in a while I'd chalk it up to coincidence, but every time a suitcase appears in the apartment, a cat is on it within 5 minutes....

Your cats are gorgeous!
Every cat I've ever owned has gone mad over suitcases. Strangely enough, they seem to prefer sitting on them rather than in them. i wonder if it's because they associate them with you going away, they don't like it so they think if they lie on the case it will stop you going?
Missing cat found in luggage Associated Press Published January 23, 2008
PALM BEACH GARDENS - The last time Kelly Levy saw her tiger-striped cat was before she took her husband to the airport.
The 24-year-old came back to her house late Friday to find the bottom step, where Gracie Mae would usually be waiting, empty.
Levy papered the neighborhood with "lost cat" signs. Then she got a phone call.
"Hi, you're not going to believe this, but I am calling from Fort Worth, Texas, and I accidentally picked up your husband's luggage. And when I opened the luggage, a cat jumped out," Levy recalled the caller saying, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.
Rob Carter of Fort Worth told the Dallas Morning Newsthat he made it home with the suitcase.
"I went to unpack and saw some of the clothes and saw it wasn't my suitcase," Carter said. "I was going to close it, and a kitten jumped out and ran under the bed. I screamed like a little girl."
Carter said that he eventually got the cat to come out from under the bed.
"In the morning, I got close enough to see its collar and the phone number on it," he said. "So I called the number and got a hold of the crying wife of the traveler."
Carter delivered Gracie Mae to Seth Levy and the tabby made the 1,300-mile trip home on an $80 plane ticket Sunday night.

My cats love it when anything new is introduced to the room. If I put a stack of ANYTHING on the table they are on top of it. When I buy something new I make sure to throw the box or bag on the floor for them and they are all over it, in it and on it, but after a time it's old news and they could care less about it. I can't pack for a trip when they are in the room, the degree of difficulty is just too much. Love the photos and I sure wish my orchids looked like yours!

I do enjoy the cat blogging. Orchids... not so much. :)
O/t: I wouldn't mind one bit if this video I made about McFake Talk went viral. Wanna help?
