I can't believe Mitt Romney said his children are serving their country by trying to get him elected President. They're all old enough (and have been old enough) to get their asses to Iraq.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
How does Romney define marriage...1 man, 11 women?
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Isn't Romney the guy that said that Bush can't be tried for war crimes because the troops volunteered to serve?

    Then what is stop-loss?

Did anyone watch the PBS documentary on The Mormons? What a very fucked up bunch that is.

Get to know some of our friends on the right wing side of the Democratic party. Some of the names may surprise you:

The right wing current of the Democratic party, characterized by its neoliberal economic policies, support of Israel, desire to increase defense spending, and links to heavy donors and fundraisers.

Believes that "left-wing" positions are not politically viable. Describes itself as "moderate and pro-growth". Probably responsible for erosion of the Democratic Party's historical labor and minority base due to support of treaties like NAFTA, lack of support for affirmative action and poverty programs, and their siphoning away of campaign funds from minority groups.

At the national level, the movement was founded by the Democratic Leadership Council (501c4 educational non-profit, founded 1984) and includes the House New Democrat Coalition (founded 1997), the Senate New Democrat Coalition (founded 2000), the New Democrat Network PAC (founded 1996), the misnamed Progressive Policy Institute (501c4 think tank, "Bill Clinton's idea mill", founded 1989), and the umbrella funding group The Third Way Foundation (501c3 non-profit, founded 1996).

Since coming to power within the Democratic Party with Bill Clinton's presidency, the New Democrats/DLC have worked towards "essentially the same purpose as the Christian Coalition... to pull a broad political party dramatically to the right" according to John Nichols of The Progressive.

DLC operatives actively worked to sabotage Howard Dean's candidacy for the US Presidency in 2004, claiming that the "far-left" Democrat was wrong to attack George W. Bush's tax cuts and national security policies.

Corporate contributors to the DLC and New Democratic Network include Bank One, Citigroup, Dow Chemical, DuPont, General Electric, Health Insurance Corporation of America, Merrill Lynch, Microsoft, Philip Morris, RJR Nabisco, Chevron, Prudential Foundation, Amoco Foundation, AT&T, Morgan Stanley, Occidental Petroleum, Raytheon, and many other Fortune 500 companies.

The New Democrat Movement is sometimes referred to as the Dixiecrat movement due to the DLC's origination in the southern states, their desire to get rid of affirmative action, and their membership's overwhelming whiteness.

"[Democrats should] shift the primary focus from racism, the traditional enemy without, to self-defeating patterns of behavior [among blacks]" --Chuck Robb, 2nd DLC Chairman, Governor & Senator of the Great State of Virginia, White Man, 1986.

"I'm from the democratic wing of the Democrat Party" --Paul Wellstone, progressive Democrat, criticizing the New Democrat Movement.

"Democrats for the Leadership Class" --Jesse Jackson, progressive black Democrat, describing the DLC.

    Those members, as promised:

Now that he is not running for President anymore, shouldn't his kids be enlisting and going to Iraq? After all their father thinks that the war is the right thing to do?

Senator Graham agrees that McCain will be just likew Bush.

That's Bullshit that McCain would say "only a fool or a fraud would attempt to glamorize war".

A guy that glamorizes war is not the guy you need to be following like a lost puppy.

I want McCain to make a speech without teleprompters. He reads like a turtle on Valium.
  • lilybart · 1 year ago
Please oh please run with Romney!! He says craaaaazy things.
  • AdrianBrowne · 1 year ago
Every question for McCain should be about his illegal campaign financing.

When did he become aware that this was going to be a problem? Is he concerned that he's breaking the law? What's he doing about it?

He can't even balance his own campaign budget.

If the guy can't even run his own campaign competently, legally, and responsibly he isn't up to the job as president.

That would be a big win.

As teleprompter-readers go, I like Matt Lauer but Level 9 is on the SciFi channel this morning. It's a matter of priorities. Not that I'm a big fan of Mormons, but I'm convinced they're no crazier than Puritans or Catholics or Zionists or Scientologists or even Oprahists or Amway testifiers.
But wait! There's more . . . as a contented Florida retiree, I'm pleased to see McCain and Romney together. Our beloved gay governor, Charlie Crist, is good where he is.
Feel better about yourself, come bask in the Florida sunshine. It's good for you. Bring money.

All I can think of is more incompetence in govt. When I went to an approved IRS website to file for the "rebate", filled it out correctly (I'm on SS) and got a pin number for my electronic signature, 2 days later I get a message from the site, telling me my return was accepted by the IRS, but I have to fill out Form 8453-OL, which the IRS informed me was a "signature page" which they will have to MAIL me (since none are available anywhere, it seems).

When I asked the operator why the IRS didn't check out the tax sites they recommend as competent to do this, I was yelled at by the operator (a civil servant, paid by tax dollars, duh). She may send it or not. I'll know in a week.

Meanwhile, I think I'll just go back to bed. Tired of the incompetence. Maybe she was upset that she didn't get that bonus like her supervisor did? Why the hell are govt employees paid bonuses? Could be that contracting bids are jacked up to include those bonuses? More govt debt...

Senator Casey's endorsement of Obama is great news to wake up to! Obama is ready to make his big push in PA. Look for the race to tighten up and get even more heated the next couple weeks.
On another note, I give (reluctantly) kudos to hillary for telling those of her supporters that are saying they will go for McCain over Obama that they need to think again. After all her touting of McCain in recent weeks, it's good to hear a different tack from that campaign.

Senator Charles Grassley, a Republican said he is absolutely convinced we will capture Osama bin Laden before the election...

I'm a war president. I make decisions here in the Oval Office in foreign-policy matters with war on my mind. Again, I wish it wasn't true, but it is true...

And I made the decision, obviously, to take our case to the international community in the hopes that we could do this — achieve a disarmament of Saddam Hussein peacefully. In other words, we looked at the intelligence...

I went to Congress with the same intelligence — Congress saw the same intelligence I had, and they looked at exactly what I looked at...

In other words, you can't rely upon a madman, and he was a madman. You can't rely upon him making rational decisions when it comes to war and peace, and it's too late, in my judgment...

See, free societies are societies that don't develop weapons of mass terror and don't blackmail the world...

    --------

    Yes, that is good news.

I was afraid the whole state was in the bag for Hillary, like Ohio was.

(And don't those Ohio voters feel stupid now that we learned Hillary had a leading role in passing NAFTA, which devastated their state.)

Awesome video Nigel! I hadn't seen it before but it should be seen by everyone (but not at work or in front of children)

Bush_Bites, PA is already narrowing. I don't care if hillary wins it as long as the margin is small. The MSM talking heads are already saying she has to win by a wide margin and if Obama can keep that from happening, the talk will be how a hillary win, wasn't much of a win.

Gee. Too bad McCain staked his presidential candidacy on Iraq, huh?

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - U.S. forces were drawn deeper into Iraq's four day-old crackdown on Shi'ite militants on Friday, launching air strikes in Basra for the first time and battling militants in Baghdad.

Well Tomorrow the County Conventions will take place in Texas. This is where the official delegate reports will be tallied. Already both the Obama and Clinton Campaigns have been on the ground post primary to assure that all their delegates get to the conventions. The Obama people were going to each county and gathering caucus results. In Jefferson County Texas the County Chair Gilbert T. Adams made arrangements for a larger than usual Convention location and extending the convention time to accommodate a convention with as many as 5 times the usual turnouts for such events. The Democratic Party in Jefferson County have been buzzing all week trying to sort out the overwhelming turnout during the primary caucus'. the turnout was so overwhelming that the official sign in sheets completely ran out and each precinct was forced to go to scratch paper to get the information required. the Confirmation Committee was especially pressed since they must provide the report of the actual official tally of the precinct caucus. Tomorrow is going to be a very interesting day all over Texas. I am not sure if the rancor in the campaigns is going to translate to confrontation on the convention floor. So Bill Clinton Can be horrified that Hilary didn't win Texas. I am nervous either way.

Some encouraging news, Dean wants some the superdelegates to commit by July 1st. In his interview with Harry Smith Dean also states he has made telephone calls to both candidates. Hmmm, wonder if that is the reason Clinton gave her "uniter" speech yesterday?

Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq, Thursday 27 March 2008

    http://www.mcclatchydc.com/212/story/31750.html

The “Round-up” is very long and very, very bloody -- read it and tell me if it looks like the “surge” is working by any stretch of the imagination.

And Juan Cole has more very bad news on Iraq – very bad, indeed:

    Mahdi Army Stands Firm in its Basra Neighborhoods;
    Demonstrations in Baghdad against al-Maliki

    http://www.juancole.com/

The Arabic press [Al-Hayat] reports that Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki continues to refuse to negotiate with the Mahdi Army militiamen, and said, "They have no other choice but to surrender."

But, al-Maliki is already showing signs of becoming wobbly – he just extended the hard-and-fast 72-hour deadline for them to "surrender heavy arms” to 10 days – largely because Muqtada al-Sadr and the Mahdi Army have essentially told al-Maliki to fuck off, and al-Sadr is calling for negotiations while sending tens of thousands if Iraqi Shiites into the streets to peacefully protest the al-Maliki government's hard line.

Also, Al-Maliki promised monetary rewards to those Mahdi Army members who would agree to comply with the new 10-day extension of the deadline. And that's al-Maliki's idea of taking a hard line?

    What a mess…and then some.

Well the Texas County conventions are soon to be underway. The Obama people have been running training sessions without informing the County Democratic officials. While training sessions are not a bad Idea for the County Democratic officials to engage in its highly irregular for a Specific Candidate to prey on those that are first timers in the process. There may be an upset turnover in the Texas results and the Obama people know its obtainable. I don't think the candidate himself is aware of the tactics that his Texas Campaign is taking. This is far from over and I expect there to be much press coverage at this event tomorrow. I am alway enthusiastic about going to county convention. This year I am honestly nervous.
