Bush also proved yet again he'll chummily wink at anything, anywhere. When he quoted the US Senator, when he said, "all of this could have been prevented", he winked. He winked about Hitler's "all of this"...in the Knesset.

Perhaps people should boycott Bush, like they treated the Dixie Chicks.
Where is the (feigned) outrage from patriotic Americans?

Bush did the most unacceptable and indecent thing - lie and slam a Democratic candidate, who might end up being a President.
Bush does not have a leg to stand on, when it comes to foreign policy.
His policies really STINK, and have failed miserably. He has nothing to
help McCain run on, he has been unsuccessful in every way, so he resorts
    to lies and ugly attacks.

I was glad that the media and pundits criticized these words, and where they were spoken, and McCain agreeing to what his idol, Bush said, is filthy politics. Bush is a rotten, embarrassing SOB, and is the worst President in our history. He should keep his mouth shut, and do what he is good at; clearing brush. A president who lied and took this country into war, might have avoided the deaths of a million people, if he took time to sit and negotiate.

It should be no surprise to anyone that stupid george would use the international stage for political purposes. He had his Secretary of State on the campaign trail for his re-election effort. Politics has not only been first for today's republicans it has been everything. The result is republican failure in everything.

Though it is true that this has tied idiot george around all republican's necks, including McFailure, it has moved the focus off of the failed republican economy. We must not allow this. The failure in republican foeign policy is directly tied to the failed republican economy. We must strive to make every conversation regarding either the failed republican economic policies or the failed republican foriegn policies a two-fer - then wrap it all up with a bow that reminds us all that we are far less secure (both physically and financially) than we were eight years ago.

mccain has embraced republian failure and bush politics, and offers only an older face.
the republican experience is republican failure.

    Good morning!

Setting up a Nazi-based analogy as a pretense for attacking an American politician while speaking to the Knesset reeks of condescension to Jews as well as to any clear-headed person on planet Earth.

What am I hearing? The voices in my head tell me I should get outdoors and pull weeds before the sun is overhead.

Now McCain is trying to position himself with the independent anti-war crowd by saying we'll be out of Iraq in 5 years. I don't think anyone is going to believe him. I just want Obama to keep hammering McCain's "Iraq war vote", and everytime McCain says anything about his supposed Foreign Policy expertise he can just say "McCain voted for the worse foreign policy blunder in American history".

I know we rip on Dowd from time to time, but this is pretty interesting.

Column by Dowd on the eve of Powell's presentation to the UN.

    http://www.commondreams.org/views03/0205-03.htm

This is very good. I mean, I've read books of columns about pivotal points in WW II and this ranks up there with them.

    Dare I say "a classic column" ?
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
well this was certainly classic Dowd:

"When the evidence is not black and white, the president must persuade everyone. There is no red and blue. There is just red, white and blue."

    sounds like classic Obama too!

The Tennessee republican party is running an ad attacking Michelle Obama. Check it out of Huff post. It is revolting. They want to talk about first ladies?? Bring it. Cyndi McSame has more skeletons in her closet than a haunted house.

Look at the Huffpost article, then write the Tennessee repbulican party and tell them how disgusting and Un-American they truly are.

Here is the Tennessee republican party link: http://www.tngop.org/leadership/staff.html

Here is what I wrote to EACH one of the pigs:

    Dear Mrs. Smith,

Your ad trying to swiftboat Michelle Obama is on it's face disgusting. Her comments were taken out of context. She was referring to the POLITICAL PROCESS. She is proud of America for the first time because of her husbands campaign being able to energize millions of people in a way that has never been done in a grass roots effort.

How do you people sleep at night? Michelle Obama is a wonderful human being, a great mother and a great American. She comes from extremely humble beginnings and worked her way through college. A true American success story. If you sat down and talked to her one on one you would probably be fast freinds. But you can't because you are a coward, and so are most in your party.

You want to go after someone? Go after the Elitist Cyndi McCain. The pill popping, drug addicted wealthy heiress and second wife of John McSame. She does not have a patriotic bone in her body. You want to go down that path? Bring it.

You people are truly desperate and disgusting. And you will lose in November because you have NOTHING to offer. This only serves to galvanize our side, so on that note I should thank you. How about this for a concept, why don't you tout what your own candidate can do for our country and leave the spouses out it.

Meanwhile you have your president trashing a sitting senator and possible president in a foreign country and jeopardizing our national security.

The republican party has destroyed our country, and you will be defeated come November. Why do you hate America so much Robin? You are a truly revolting human being to allow this ad to happen.

    Sincerely,

(Obama better not get into any spending cap deals with McCain. He's running a shell game over there and everybody knows it.)

Bush should have stuck to talking about someone he should know something about--his grandfather, Prescott Bush, the Great Enabler and Financier of German Fascism.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Read that the RNC opposition research team hired a whole bunch of PIs and dispatched them to Hawaii and Chicago to dig up and go through Obama's past in those two places with a toothbrush.

I hope Howard Dean knows enough to do the same with Sidney's past.
  • bernardaB · 1 year ago
It is not surprising that Bush once again is completely ignorant of history. In his speech he says, "My only regret is that one of Israel's greatest leaders is not here to share the moment. He is a warrior for the ages, a man of peace, and a dear friend. The prayers of all Americans are with Ariel Sharon."

For him, extreme rightwinger Sharon, the man who has a war criminal record going back to the fifties, is a man of peace.

Of course his speech is also steeped in religious fervor. He also says in what seems to be a message about Iraq, Iran, etc.,

"As we go forward, our alliance will be guided by clear principles – shared convictions rooted in moral clarity and unswayed by popularity polls or the shifting opinion of international elites."

So, screw American opinion and the international community, we will go it alone. There is much more that is equally bad.

did anybody take see the wedding cake?

In Los Angeles, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa joined gay marriage supporters and same-sex couples who brought their children to hear the decision at the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center.

The center's public affairs officer, James Key, said a huge celebration was planned for Thursday night in West Hollywood, a traditional hub for gay and lesbian residents.

"It's going to include a huge cake and people dancing," he said.

Bush feels left out. All the attention is on the democratic candidates and the race for the new president. Even Jena's wedding did not get the big attention that usually goes with it.
    He wants attention.

I have never written about this b4. But b/c I see a very disturbing pattern, I think it is time to open up. In Oct 2006, an organization called "Republican Jewish Coalition" headed by Ari Fleischer ran an ad in our local Jewish community newspapers featuring a photo of Nevil Chamberlain & Adolf Hitler signing the Munich Agreement accompanied by a text warning Jews against voting for the Democrats.

I have tried very hard to find a copy of this ad, but to no avail. But, after what happened in Israel this week, I see now that it was a part of Republican coordinated effort to equate voting for a Democrat with giving in to Hitler.

This proposition doesn't deserve my comment. I have no ability to get this observation to the DNC or the Obama people. But if anyone reading this does, I believe that it must be a part of the debate. The other side's campaign methods are a real turn off to many, many good, normal Americans

McCain is the wrong man for the job. Maybe this is a good thing, since we have to yell and scream that McCain is 4 more years of Bush! McCain has the most useless platform. He has not a single idea that could possibly help one single person in this country. Once again, it's all about the ultra rich, big business, and rich people who are so f*&king cheap, they begrudge a starving family a dollar of welfare!
