AMERICAblog: From the team that brought you two wars, a recession, the housing crisis and so much more, a vicious campaign for a third term

Wouldn't Paris Hilton make a fitting successor to Condoleeza Rice?
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
PS: Britney is a republican. Paris is an imbecile (same thing).

    Maybe Britney would be better.

McCain's giving Obama the Carol McCain treatment. He's always been like this

Adolph Hitler was really a nice guy.

I caught a comment from you last night thinking about moving your entire family to Paraguay. One of the reasons I decided not to move to South America is because if the economic downturn continues, it could go worldwide. Maybe a depression. If so, law and order, which is much more fragile than here to begin with will quickly disappear. The Native Americans have alot of grievances for their lands stolen. They would certainly dispatch any gingo on it first, especially someone like you. But go ahead and move. There was never any recession or anything.

Oh, and don't even think about entering the bush ranch compound. They will have infrared night vision and snipers who will pick you off in the dark if need be.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Why would they pick me off? I'll be coming to dinner...
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
Of course the American people will fall for it. They just want NASCAR, case of Bud and a chance to nail their cousin at a family gathering.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
And, the problem with that is??
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
    Inbreeding leads to Republicanism.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
The breeders always win in the end.
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
No, breeding is associated with heterosexuality, not "in the end" activity.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
People get banned for saying stuff like that.
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
That's only because it's not my site.

Apparently the "monitors" are the ones actually in charge here. I got pretty heavily monitored and sometimes edited out several weeks ago. I have a MAC and it puts up a certain screen effect when monitoring is taking effect.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
    Paranoid much?

Ohhh that is was true that you are "heavily" monitored. You're even allowed to write personal attacks and get away with it.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
I can't say a whole lot in response because I don't want to breach any protocols. But, I will say this: You are a very "fair" person and you have been kind to me when I was definitely in the wrong. You talk the talk and also walk the walk. Not many people in this world do both. Even though we don't agree on a lot of things? You shine like a diamond.
OK, back to the front lines!

Actually, there's a freewheeling type of "boycott" of Bud since A-B sold out to !nBev. It's even selling for $11.88/case at the local grocery. And my son is increasingly understanding the corporate impact on the sport that came out of moonshine running...he's a bit hesitant to always take Mom's word, because he remembers when I was a "communist", which I never was, back in the Vietnam era.

The only way Obama can redeem himself at this point is to have an affair. Jennifer Flowers, who got Bill his second term, is too old, so he'll have to shack up with someone in the Paris or Brittney age group.
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
McBush is still on his "Obama wants to raise taxes and cost Americans jobs" meme, too. Why doesn't Obama counter with "cutting taxes for the wealthy has lost (insert number of jobs) during the Bush administration, hasn't it?"

Did giving corps tax breaks to go overseas help keep jobs here? Did letting corps get away with stashing profits in tax havens save American jobs?

McBush would continue the same policies--it has nothing to do with keeping and creating more jobs, just keeping and creating more wealth for the rich.

Joe Joe Joe, do YOU really think this is a question?

    2) Will the media actually cover the lies and distortions spewing from McCain's campaign. (The jury is still out on that one. Although some have risen to the task, many seem titillated by the brazenness of the attacks).

The Jury has answered loud and clear long ago! Their in this to the end and it's up to US to end it for them. We're shamefully behind as your #2 suggest!

The problem with McCain's line of attack against Obama's ability to draw large crowds is it's an attack against the voters, not the candidate. McCain is basically saying voters are dumb, too awe struck and not intelligent enough to see Obama for what "he really is" (according to McCain of course). He's flat out insulting the voters, 75,000 in Portland, OR for example that McCain desperately needs.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
The American people didn't fall for "all that crap" in 2000 or 2004. Those elections were stolen by Rethugs.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
hawkseye: If you're correct, only a landslide will prevent a third electoral THEFT!

If the American people fall for this again, then I will have to say that the 2000 election was the turning point in America's decline from the world's superpower. I know we are currently on that path right now, but I am hoping that the damage done over the past 7+ years has waken our nation up into realizing that we cannot tolerate a candidate who is going to base his/her strategy on lying and tearing his/her opponent down. If this type of campaigning works again, the I will lose all hope in this country.

The bright side of this is that Hillary used the same tactics for a while and she didn't prevail.

I agree completely. What is happening is a direct result of the lack of quality education, not just book smarts, but the complete lack of critical thinking that we need in our public. It's gone. People do not 'actively' watch the news for example. They take it all at face value.

One bright note in all of this: Reagan was tied with Carter in the polls up until the final days. Then the Reagan landslide happend. I feel we are in the same position except the other way around. Once people see Obama side by side with Mc-nothing-to offer, and really see what an amazing command of the issues Obama really has, I think things will change. This is my hope anyway.
  • nothingasitseems · 1 year ago
I think you will find that the turning point of this election will be the debates. Obama is gonna whup McCain up. He's got too much personality and too much of a better grasp of the issues not to. I can't wait for that first debate!
  • bunnyjump · 1 year ago
    And Bush "won" twice.

I don't have faith in a population that gets its information from the likes of Fox, Rush, and O'Reilly - if interested in current events at all.

Obama MUST take McCain and the Republicans head-on and aggressively. The Obama camp has to hammer home example after example of Republican lies and corruption. Obama has got to call out McCain and point out McCains flip flops and many gaffes. Keep McCain on the defense ALWAYS.

And as for Nancy Pelosi....by tabling investigations (pick one) she is just as guilty. Her decisions are based on what is politically expedient, not on the rule of law. Giver her a giant vote of no confidence and get rid of her. The American people need someone to uphold the Constitution.
