    Life is good in California.

That does it. No more vacations in Gambia.

OT: video of Hillary apparently so happy she is dancing. Starts with her drinking a beer. Look at the manic eyes and exaggerated movements. The women is a psycho. I will give you that this election cycle is outrageous but she really is a robot.

    Not CA couples, is it?
But any couples who go to CA, IIRC
  • queerunity · 1 year ago
Alison all couples from any state can marry in California but it won't be recognized in their state unless they are from Mass or NY

Right -- and they can't divorce unless they go to CA and establish residence for six months. This has vast legal and financial implications. So, people wanting to run to CA to get married should think carefully and seek competent legal advice.

Poor Hillary. Not too swift at simple math, apparently has some racist issues, can't dance and obviously cannot hold her liquor.

I'm afraid she wouldn't be able to FIND the phone at 3:00 am.

    Obama '08!

It's a step in the right direction, but it's hard to get too excited about it here in red-state America. I asked my partner of 19 years to marry me in California, and he correctly responded "What's the point?" Even for Californians, there are no federal government rights (e.g., IRS, SSA, etc.) Yeah, it's great. But there's a long, long way to go.

Busboy, there are tables that need clearing, so STFU and get back to work.

Every time a gay marries a thick-necked fundie oaf dies...

Prez D, Good Point. California here we come. . .

You really have to laugh. You've got this murderous idiot in Gambia and you've got other people in Kenya burning people alive on suspicious of being magical penis thieves -- and these are the people the anti-gay Episcopalians in the US are looking to for theological guidance.

    What a bunch of lunatics.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
Those are the same Episcopalians who raise no objections to the practice of polygamy among African Anglicans. Real cute, that one.

    Speaking of direct hits:

The White House is furious with the New York Times over an editorial they published today that criticized President Bush for not supporting the new GI Bill that was recently passed in the Senate:

I'm no lawyer, but would it be a good thing for gay folks to make the issue a fait accompli by getting married in large numbers before it has a chance to come up on the ballot?

My partner of 36 years and I are getting married the end of August here in the wine country of California where gays are quite welcome. We're having a wonderful time planning the wedding.

Some legal scholars, including conservative Douglas Kmiec (sp?) said it is unlikely our wedding can be nullified even if the initiative passes.
  • mr_ed · 1 year ago
6/14 is Flag Day. It's also the anniversary of my first, ill-fated marriage. I done more better the second time.
  • nuneutralobserver2008 · 1 year ago
Pushing gay marriage will back fire -- causing more states to even reject civil unions -- because the judges in California said that civil unions are, by definition, discriminatory. States will be afraid to allow civil unions, on the basis that they inevitably lead to gay marriage.

As much as this is pretty much the legal answer to all out prayers, I couldn't wait for even CA to get their act together,
My husband and I were married in Vancouver about 4 yrs ago (just before their Federal govt even equalized the law throughout Canada, as it turned out) and there was nothing anyone could do about it. Because of the treaty between our two countries, one the US govt and no state can contravene, everyone already has to recognize out big, fat, gay marriage.
It was lovely. I have never been treated better anywhere I have ever been (never mind on my Gay wedding day).
Anyway, I think (I dearly hope) by Nov no one will remember this. After June, all the hoopla will die down when everyone realizes that the sky is still blue, the invisible cloud people will do nothing to stop any of this, and the neo-cons will still be pissed the only on they have to vote for is 'too-liberal (ha!)' McCain.

I'm getting married to my fiancé (wow, what a weird thing to type after being together 10 years) at the end of June in Palm Springs. Unless they throw up a road block before then, we will at least have been legally married in the United States for a few months before they can take it away.

If they don't manage to stop this, I wonder what will happen when enough people go back to their own states, and decide to band together to test the constitutionality of all those constitutional amendments. I promise not to do so before the election, but if there is a movement in Nevada after that, sign me up!

    mmmmmmm, I love June weddings.

I'm excited about this step forward, and I hope it's followed by many more.

Ray_Ray, Please, don't feed the trolls......
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Here's a little hint; Ray_Ray.... If you ask someone to marry you; and they say: "what's the Point"? Then it's pretty much back to the old drawing board; Capiche?
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Always trust the Episcopalians to do the 'wrong thing'...
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Not much "feedback" on this Godless blog from the resident heathens. Seems that a direct hit has been recorded....?
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
All "gay" couples should be required to marry immediately! We straights want the gays to go thru the same humiliating and biased court system that awards children to incompetents and which recognizes people with "no children" as competent parents.

    Thank you, Jesus!!
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Sounds like you've had some family issues, Bb.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
    Amen, bro.....
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Ray_Ray, your partner thinks of you as a sex object as comfortable as a hole in a bucket. Why would he marry your worthless ass and get himself embroiled in a lawsuit over old dressers and drawers and things left behind?
