AMERICAblog: General Clark, your country needs you

  • sherifffruitfly · 1 year ago
He's groveling his opportunistic little ass off trying to wrangle out a VP spot.
  • cmpnwtr · 1 year ago
If he wants to be veep, he better endorse and quickly!

this thought for the day popped up on my computer today...
    i dedicate it to Hillary:

“There is a time for departure even when there’s no certain
    place to go.”
    ~ Robert Frost

Even though I'm an Obama supporter, if he came out publicly for Obama prior to Clinton suspending her campaign, I'd lose a lot of respect for the man. Clark and the Clintons are close, it would be a jerkwad move to screw them over like that. Also, he doesn't need to support Obama so openly just to secure the VP spot, private assurances to Obama will suffice.

    Burma needs your money.

    80,000 dead.

Give a little. Means a lot.

i wish Obama would choose Madeleine Albright for VP.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
Turning a " New Page " precludes Ms. Albright. The VP needs to attract the very many women who feel a loss along with HRC. Sen. McCaskill, Mo. would add gender strength and a swing state to the fight to come.

SHRILLARY reminds me of all the gay and lesbian folks who are in denial about their true sexuality, "You are always the last to know." It's over honey, now hand over the keys to the car.

I'm not big on Wes Clark.but I get the attraction and would still wholeheartedly work to elect Obama.

    That being said...
Having a military insider, AND HE IS the consumate military insider, next in line in an Obama administration is unsettling to me and judging from everything else happening I don't think having a General is necessary for Obama to declare victory on National Security issues.
I think he HAS ALREADY DONE THAT and should REFRAIN from saddling himself with a self-serving Pentagon insider.

I have a feeling he will choose him though so am mentally prepping myself to get on board.

I mean, he's no Mark Penn thank the lord!

Wes Clark would better serve this country as Secretary of Defence. He has shown himself not to be a campaign strength. Yes, Secy. of Defense should be his niche.

SUPERDELEGATES-YOUR TIME IS NOW. This is the time for these folks to perform the party responsibilities for which they exist. Let's get on with the race to take our country back after the disasters of the past 8 years. Superdelegates: The time to act is now when the party needs you.

The Progressive Liberal platform IS WINNING.

Obama should roll the hard six and choose Kucinich!
    FIX IT ALL RIGHT NOW!

Clark as VP? I think he'd make a good Sec of Defense. Not sure about VP though...

On her magic horseless winged chariot, Queen Hillaria: "I rage ! I burn! Ancient Village Elders and this former General of my valiant armies dare to seek my dethronement?! Oh perfidy! O grossest presumption! And do my ink-stained minions dare to assert my power derives from THEIR desire for prolonged combat against this dusky-hued young upstart, beardless rival to my authority?! I call upon my foremother Hecate: O Great Sorceress, use your powers to transform these wretched Dogs and render them neutered in their nether regions for all eternity! And then grant to those benighted wretches, the People of the Mountain Hollows, the power to proclaim their adoration for their Queen--for all the universe to see!"

Clicked enter too quickly....was going to say, can Albright be VP since she was not a natural born US citizen?

Dear KarenMrsLloydRichards (love the "Eve" reference, BTW)....This is a perfect quasi-mythological quip! I love it. I tried to elude to such yesterday...

I agree. When you've got Hillary stealing bad ideas from the Republicans and trashing the nominee, we need all hands on deck to end this thing.
  • SINGING_TROLL · 1 year ago
Hillary never met a bad idea she couldn't worsen.

looks like they only come out at night too...

I was at 38 yesterday... always odd coming back in the morning and finding your points are lower, or in negative-land.

Clark will not jump ship and endorse Obama openly. It isn't the kind of man he is. Clark is loyal. I have no doubt he is lobbying Hillary privately to withdraw. But he will not do more than that. I wouldn't ask him.
  • KISSman · 1 year ago
I have a hard time believing that Wes Clark is going to publicly say it. Where would his political career be without these people? They propped him up in 2004 in an effort to sink Howard Dean. Unless he thinks this kind of bold, 'back-stabbing' move will help him be a VP finalist, I think he'll remain mum. And since I have no interest in Wes Clark (or any person tied to the Clintons) as a VP, he can stay mum.
  • mossy1 · 1 year ago
I just received this message when I tried to message Gen. Clark:
550 you are not allowed to send mail to
Listen - This pisses me off. I'm the mother of a soldier in Iraq, and I can't send messages to a retired General?
I would love Wes Clark to explain this to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • LostAirman · 1 year ago
Wes Clark is a man of integrity and a fine Democrat. He won't publicly support anyone but Sen. Clinton until she gets out of the race. Then, he'll work tirelessly to see that the nominee is elected.

As far as Clark for SecDef -- he's not been retired from the military for 10 years (2001), which is a requirement for the position. He would, however, make a strong Secretary of State. He's incredibly well-versed in foreign policy and (of course) national security. He speaks four languages, and has had frequent contact with many of the world's heads of state. Not to mention that he understands the value of diplomacy and its critical role in the standing of the US around the world.

"Wesley Clark is a latte sipping elitist"-Hillary
  • etc · 1 year ago
It is loyal Hillary supporters and people with brains in their heads - people like Wesley Clark and Maya Angelou and Madeline Albright and Evan Bayh that make this a fight to the finish. People who are loyal and smart and don't jump ship just because that's what all the cool kids are doing.
  • LostAirman · 1 year ago
Having personally been at the point where it was clear he couldn't win a nomination, I can almost guarantee that Clark is lobbying Clinton personally to get out of the race. I believe that's been reported here. But, that's the way to do it - with integrity, behind the scenes, and in the interests of the party.

Hey, sent of my email to Wes Clark:)

I agree with the others that Clark might make a great Secretary of Defense. VP? No.

Soundboy_jeff--- ppffft. I pay no mind. I don't think I've ever had a positive number anyways.
