AMERICAblog: George H.W. Bush wants a third Bush presidency

  • Blueflash · 10 months ago
NO!!!!!!!!!! Time to start thinking about a boycott of Florida if they dare to put another Bush in Washington. We've boycotted orange juice before and we can do it again.
  • An_American_Karol · 10 months ago
I just saw this video on CNN. What's interesting is the comment George H W Bush made about now not being the time for Jeb. lol
It's got to be tough knowing your oldest child screwed up the world and is the most reviled president in history.
  • Boycottutah · 10 months ago
I have had enough of all of the theocrats who use the Bible to justify hatred and make comments like Saint Obama's famous antigay quote just days before the election stating: "I believe marriage is a union between a man and a woman," "Now, for me as a Christian, it is also a sacred union. God is in the mix."

Obama is NO progressive. He is a Bible thumping homophobic Christianist. He will use his Bible to dictate how he handles the Gaza conflict (BTW read some of the blogs and comments based in the EU, many progressive Europeans are starting to see that Obama is just an empty suit). At least with people like Palin and Bush we know what we are getting from the start. Obama did a fantastic bait and switch.
  • An_American_Karol · 10 months ago
Can we wait until he is in office before we start to slam him for policy he has yet to make.
I am upset with Obama's choice of Warren, but I am not ready to call him an empty suit.
    Just my opinion.
  • warbler · 10 months ago
Thanks for that. But why are you posting it here, where no one will appreciate any of your sentiments.? You really should stick to the sites that appeal to puerile under achievers, Maybe some of the porn sites would like to hear your opinions. Places where people have low reading skills.
This is just contrarian boilerplate and on this site we usually do more than copy and paste.
You have a nice day, ma'am.
  • HelenaMontana · 10 months ago
I hear No Quarter is desperately looking for people to post anti-Obama rants--their current two are suffering from exhaustion (mental AND moral).
  • quark · 10 months ago
Do you ever actually read the pieces you are allegedly commenting on?

Your passion is evident but repeatedly posting rants unrelated to the subject at hand just waters down any impact.

Hint: the actual topic is another Bush in the White House.
  • vkobaya · 10 months ago
I seriously doubt there is a snowball's chance in hell of another Bush ever being democratically elected to the presidency. Actually, Jeb is a different person than George W. and if they had elected him, the nation would have been in quite a bit better shape than it is. While Jeb is conservative, George was Neo-Nazi, as well as stupid, insane, incompetent and a failure. I don't like conservatives, but George was a fratboy, brat who never intended anything but harm to this nation, quite different from both Daddy and Jeb. No, I'd never vote for Jeb, and the reality is after George Jr. there is zero chance of any other Bush ever holding democratically holding high office again. Of course, George Jr. was not democratically elected since he stole both elections.

BTW, Obama actually should have won by a landslide as the Republicans switched 8 million votes.
  • Butch1 · 10 months ago
I think the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. I don't trust Jeb to be any better than Geo I or Geo II. They are republicans and they are conservative, what more does a person need to know? Just look how he ran Florida and how gays and lesbians suffered under his thumb. He is no different than George with the exception, that he knows how to hide it better.
  • AdrianBrowne · 10 months ago
The only way the Bushes could restore the family name is to get Jeb in there as president -- or at least try -- to show that they can still be proud. Right now his biggest rival is Sarah Palin so perhaps they can start trying to destroy her.
  • judybrowni · 10 months ago
I believe it was Trex who said something to the effect that "the American people have a short memory, and one day soon, the Republicans will nominate another empty suit with a heart of tar."

Could anything better describe the Bushes? (Wasn't the grandfather stopped from arranging a military coup against Roosevelt, only by a General who reported it in the early stages?)

Why are these criminals never tried in a court of law?
  • Butch1 · 10 months ago

Not sure if a Bush was directly involved, but the general you're referring to is Marine legend Smedley D. Butler.

Google "War is a racket" and enjoy.
  • monopole · 10 months ago
Seriously, hasn't this family done enough damage to our country?

Of course not!! It will take the Neil Bush administration to reduce the US to a Failed State Status
  • RitornaVincitor · 10 months ago
If you think about it, we could possibly survive a third Bush presidency. If Obama gets two terms, he could get the country turned around and moving in the right direction. If Bubba was next, it would take him a number of years to undo everything Obama did. Afterward he would then only have limited time to completely destroy the nation. And he'd have to do it without the help of Cheney who would by that time likely be dead. Bubba is said to be more intelligent than his brother Shrub, but then so is almost everyone else, so that doesn't say much. The chances are that by the end of Bubba's second term America would be a third world fundamentalist Christian country, but it would still exist. And the good news is that no American citizen would be allowed to die until the government had exhausted every form of forced medical intervention available. Better invest in coma centers right now while the stocks are still dirt cheap.
  • PrahaPartizan · 10 months ago
"...If Obama gets two terms, he could get the country turned around and moving in the right direction..."

Pretender Dubya has dug us such a deep hole that even two terms of Obama during which he does everything 100% perfectly correct and good luck will not have managed to turn things around to a great extent. We have so many problems to correct with resources left so depleted by Bush's non-, mis- and malmanagement that a mere eight years will not be sufficient. Just starting to right this ship before it capsizes will not allow for another Bush scion to resume command on the helm without finally sinking the ship of state.
  • RitornaVincitor · 10 months ago
So you're saying that 8 years of Obama would not even turn things around? I'm not saying 8 years will fix all the damage. But you don't think it will even start to turn things around? In that case we should all move to Prague.
  • PrahaPartizan · 10 months ago
No, 8 years won't be nearly enough to fix all of the damage inflicted on the United States by the Bush Pretendership. Yes, we might start to turn things around, but it will be very slow and quite possibly very painful for many. We seem to have adopted a philosophy of "the needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many " in the US over the last thirty years and changing that won't be easy. Just look at the brouhaha which erupted today over the proposed stimulus, which will consist of 40% tax cuts (income tax cuts, too, I might add, which go to heavily to the most favored in society) rather than other, saner, more equitable arrangements which could start to rebuild the nation and the national polity. Eight years will be just barely enough to start to fix the damage. Having another Bush return with their insane policies when the recovery would be so tentative would just plunge the nation back into the abyss.

In 30 years, in my dotage, I would consider voting for Jenna or Not Jenna, depending on her policy stands. Prior to that, absolutely not

I would too, if she becomes a Democrat and publicly pees on her parents graves.

It will NEVER happen. The Bush name is MUD, Jeb or no Jeb, for many, many years.
  • AdmNaismith · 10 months ago
Don't underestimate how stupid Floridians can be. They already elected him twice as Governor, AFTER letting children get lost and die while being cared for by the State (ie- Jeb), THEN elected that lying, closet-case Crist (and Prop 2, and all the rest).
With a Columbian (ie- Brown) wife, the GOP will never let Jeb be President, but he could be Senator for a VERY long time.
  • June · 10 months ago
It aint happening, we are at the beginning of the 4th republic
From Michael Lind in the Salon, Nov 7th......
As I see it, to date there have been three American republics, each lasting 72 years (give or take a few years). The First Republic of the United States, assembled following the American Revolution, lasted from 1788 to 1860. The Second Republic, assembled following the Civil War and Reconstruction (that is, the Second American Revolution) lasted from 1860 to 1932. And the Third American Republic, assembled during the New Deal and the civil rights eras (the Third American Revolution), lasted from 1932 until 2004.

Yes, you read that correctly -- 2004, not 2008
  • Indigo · 10 months ago
I think that's an excellent insight.
  • justacitizen · 10 months ago
Don't worry about the Bush name alone. Remember to keep an eye on the Pearce, Walker, and Ellis families too. Like Pearce "ya know what I mean?" Bush (Google that quote). John Ellis Bush aka JEB. The nephew George Pearce Bush is now being groomed for upcoming destruction.

Babs is a relative of President Franklin Pearce, and he was no great leader in his own right.

That entire cesspool of a family crawled out of Satans septic tank.

Bush the First was and is the CIA. His comments are clearly a propaganda statement calculated to destabilize the Obama administration before the inauguration.
  • Aanya · 10 months ago
I see qualities in GW Bush that relfect so poorly on those who raised him. The G HW Bush presidency was nothing to brag on, and should have been their last contribution to public service. Another Bush in office is not an option. For people like Charles Manson, and other famous murderers and criminals, GW Bush has done more than anyone's fair share of destruction against humanity, and the next Bush who threatens us with his service, should be locked up! I'm totally for having all dictionaries being forced to remove the word "bush" and replace it with the word "shrub", and we'd never have to think of that family again.
  • Nylund · 10 months ago
Of course he wants Jeb to be president. He knows W. completely destroyed what little reputation there was in the family name and he's hoping Jeb can fix that to some extent. Jeb is, was, and will always be his favorite son. It was Jeb that was supposed to be president. Poppy knew W. would screw everything up and he wants Jeb to come in and prove him right that Jeb is the better son.

But I agree with your overall point. There is no reason this family drama has to play out from within America's White House. Let them make up some sort of competition in Kennebunkport to sort out their family issues and leave the rest of us alone.
  • justacitizen · 10 months ago
Sorry, I spelled his name wrong. It's Pierce Bush.. Look for his "Today Show" interview when he started hitting on the host.
  • pdxprobert · 10 months ago
After GW was elected, Jerry Falwell was bragging about his goals to get GW a 2nd term and then get Jeb elected in 2008 to carry on the Bush agenda for another 8 years... Had the Iraq invasion been handled correctly and oversight in general not been so lax, I believe Jeb would have been the President elect last November...
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 10 months ago
scratching my head: was there a "correct" way to handle the iraq invasion?
  • Butch1 · 10 months ago
Yes, by not invading it in the first place.
  • pdxprobert · 10 months ago
The correct way would be to have done it with the appropriate amount of troops to begin with.. and shouldnt have disbanded Saddams army and then let them keep their guns which they use against our soldiers...I was not in favor of the war on Iraq but it wasnt something I could stop, nor could you... nor were the real reasons ever explained..of course its about oil.,..... we are in a period of resource wars and they will last for the remainder of what oil is left in the ground that is recoverable at a reasonable price..and water wars are next... they will be closer to home though....were in a for a rough road... I suggest you watch a movie called the end of suburbia.. you will see some vintage footage of people in the Bush administration that will give you a better perspective of where we are heading...but that movie was made before the bankrupting of the govt was implemented.. it was the goal of grover norquist...that changes the picture even worse... What I find so disgusting is how easy it was to make the people cower and docile... keeping the people in a constant state of of fear, panic and prejudice worked... and now all the legislation is place to call any of us a terrorists and take away our freedoms... check out this bill that has passed the house 404 to 6, I believe.. after the election, a local radio station was running ads for the National Clandestine Service, a division of the CIA... do you think that might be a covert domestic spy service?.... the CIA used to be mandated for foriegn surveillance but that changed Ive heard.. http://www.projectcensored.org/top-stories/arti...
  • RainbowPhoenix · 10 months ago
No... the correct way to go about that invasion would have been to not do it at all.
  • An_American_Karol · 10 months ago
If Bush weren't Bush, we would have another Bush in the White House?
  • AdmNaismith · 10 months ago
'Seriously, hasn't this family done enough damage to our country?'

Are you kidding? The Bush Family are the original Inside Traders- using public service and government connections to feather their own nest while letting their benefactors die in the streets (here, Iraq, matters not to them).

Meanwhile, W may have fucked up their cash flow.
  • Butch1 · 10 months ago
I, for one, have seen enough of the Bush dynasty to last a life time. They have done more damage to this country than any other family. No one cares what he thinks, we know already that he wanted Jeb to be president over George but this daffy country chose the buffoon over the other one. How many Bushes do we have to put up with until they run out of them?
Advise to the Bush Family; stay away!! shut-up, we do not care what you think. This last Bush was enough for all of them they have waiting in the wings to rob this country further. "Fool me once, shut up, fool!! . . .

By all means, run another "Bush". If the name has too much leaning against it now, perhaps they can dig up another candidate with the last name of "Hoover". If they can't then a "Bush" it will have to be.

I can't see another Bush getting elected in the next three generations, but I can see the Republican's going back to that family for more Republican candidates for President: the Bush family occupies a unique piece of Real Estate in the Republican party: They have pedigree with North East Anti-New Deal economic elites, Corporate and especially Petro-Corporate elites, Southern anti-establishment/race bigots, and in Jeb, a tidy tie to Latinos, as his wife is hispanic and he speaks Spanish.

My guess is the Republican brand needs to be cleaned up every bit as the "Bush" brand before they can run again.
  • Gorgonzola · 10 months ago
There are more than enough stupid people in this country to make it a reality.
  • PrahaPartizan · 10 months ago
You know, with the George W. Bush Pretendership finally drawing to a close, I can understand with every passing day why the Bolsheviks totally eliminated the imperial Romanov family and tried to destroy all traces of its departure from this earth. Some families are just so totally toxic and inimical to the society in which they live that they invite that response.

    Jeb Douche?
    Would anyone be REALLY surprised
if the American people elect another
    member of this criminal enterprise.
Hell, our entire history is just a long
list of Douches who screw the masses
to benefit the 2% then run the show.

I proudly voted for Obama and expect
great things from him but when I hear
that his administration does not plan
on vigorously go after George, Dick &
their evil minions for the NUMEROUS
CRIMES they have committed I have
a fear that Barak might have a hint
of the Douche bloodline. I mean he is
related to Dick Cheney. God I hope I'm
wrong but this is America after all.
  • RainbowPhoenix · 10 months ago
The relation to Cheney is circumstantial. Biologically speaking, technically, everyone is related to everyone.
  • ponchoparadise · 10 months ago
And hence the reference to the Douche
    bloodline.
  • RainbowPhoenix · 10 months ago
Yeah but we're distantly related to them as well.

It would have been better and more logical if he had said, "I would have preferred to see Jeb as president instead of W the Lesser." And just left it at that.
  • Laur · 10 months ago
I don't think that the U.S. is in the mood right now. Perhaps after the Democrats have cleaned up the gigantic mess the Republicans since Reagan have made of our economy and our standing among the other industrialized nations, then there might be a chance. Of course, this is speculation that doesn't take into account any influence that the right-wing noise machine (i.e. the Murdoch/Mellon-Schaife media empire) has in promoting the idiocy and anti-democratic ideology of the Bushies. Nor does it take into account the fecklessness of the conservative Democrats who should wake the f*** up and recognize that they have the power and responsibility to move us away from the edge of the precipice to which the BUSH administration has taken our nation and planet.

But, what the hell--who else is as much an optimist as I?

    Happy new year, all! *g*
