Question: Why are the conservative writers all so bitchy as of late? They absolutely got everything they have been clamoring for - deregulation and endless wars. What's wrong with them? They don't seem to like the results of what they've been yapping about for decades! George Will and his conservative friends have helped pave the way for the disasters America is now reaping so they should just sit down and STFU!

I seem to recall some pretty scathing comments here about John Kerry when he started to look like a loser. I think it's called reverse halo effect - once we feel let down we lose sight of all the good we saw in someone.
OT historical note, iirc the dead sheep quote was Denis Healy characterizing criticism from Sir Geoffrey Howe, who in turn had (somewhat previously) described criticism of himself from Willie Whitelaw as "like being nuzzled by a friendly old sheepdog". I think the latter put-down actually works much better - shows a total lack of concern.

guilty. But I started in on Kerry during that long hot summer before it became obvious he was making the race to close for Republicans to steal it. I got extremely angry at Kerry for going on vacation and windsurfing! What a total political fool! Windsurfing?!!? Not only going on VACATION but choosing windsurfing as something to attempt while his ass should have been campaigning 24/7 until he won the Oval Office!
